Ibrahim Yekini: I’ve lost count of movies I produced

Filmmaker and actor, Ibrahim Yekini has revealed that he has lost count of the movies he has produced in his career.

According to him, he made so many films that he is ashamed to put a figure to it.

Yekini accepted that he handled his filmmaking and marketing immaturely due to a lack of master and contract agreements.

“What I needed then was not the money but for people to see what I was capable of so I didn’t pay attention to certain things.

“I don’t have a master to any of the films I produced in the past and that’s because I didn’t have the mind to tell the marketers that we should sign a contract that this film belongs to me after six months because I was scared that they might throw out my film even though I produced the movie with my money,” said Yekini.

Speaking on how he transitioned to film directing he said: “Don Richard used to be my director back in the days but we had a misunderstanding when I shot a certain movie, the marketers requested for Part Two, I couldn’t reach out to him, so I took up the courage to direct the part two myself.”

‘How I handle female fans around my husband’ – Olayiwola Aminat

Olayiwola Aminat Omowunmi, the wife of actor and producer Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has shared details about their marriage and how she ignored naysayers.

In an interview with Bimpe Akintunde on her talk show Iriri Mi, Aminat revealed that she has been with Itele for almost 10 years, having met when he was still struggling as an actor.

Aminat praised Itele’s strong fear of God, which keeps him grounded and prevents him from engaging in deceitful behavior.

She shared that anytime Itele wants to do something wrong, he remembers God’s wrath and stops himself.

Aminat also spoke about the challenges she faced in their early days, particularly with Itele’s constantly travelling for movie locations.

However, she got used to it over time and even wishes he would travel more.

She also spoke on the attention Itele receives from female fans, saying she overlooks it to give him peace of mind.

Aminat recalled how her friends would mock her because of Itele’s old car when they started dating, because according to her, she was a ‘Hit’ girl back in University.

“It’s been almost 10 years since we have been together. It is by the grace of God, I keep my husband from being deceitful. Ibrahim is the kind of person who has a fear of God. So he doesn’t get involved in scamming girls.

“When I met Itele, things weren’t rosy for him. Even with that, I stood by his side because I love him, and though I always said I wouldn’t marry a celebrity, I saw his attitude and behavior and saw he has a fear of God. If he wants to do something and remembers God would be angry with him for doing such, he would put a stop to it.

“When we first started dating, it was difficult for me with his constant travelling for movie locations, and we would fight over it, but with time, I got used to it. I just wish he would leave.

“To give him peace of mind, I overlook his relationship with some of his female fans.

“I was very pompous in school, and my friends would laugh at me because of the car he was always using to pick me up, but I didn’t bother because I knew where I was going to”.

“There was a time when I felt I was an unlucky guy. I know it’s the grace of God but I always labored so hard. My mum was selling ready-made; I was selling jewelry. We would hawk around goods around Bauchi village.

“I have been in the industry since 1997. Richard Mofe Damijo, Yomi Fash, and Adebayo Salami are my role models. Adebayo Salami is a fortunate man and so are his children.
