The Chief Executive Officer of Benid Industries Limited, Dr Idoko Bartholomew. has bagged an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration and Management.
The honorary award was presented at the 11th leadership summit and induction ceremony at the University of Lagos on April 5, 2025.
The event was organised by the Ecolerite Institute of Peace Advancement in partnership with Prowess University Delaware, USA under the theme “Industrial Relations: A veritable strategy for enhancing organisational performance.”
The award was conferred in recognition of Dr. Idoko’s exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s industrial sector and his remarkable philanthropic efforts.
As a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Idoko has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to both business excellence and societal development.
His leadership in Benid Industries Limited, which manufactures wine and spirit beverages, alongside his oil and gas business has earned him national recognition as a trailblazer in the Nigerian manufacturing industry.
Idoko’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1997 when he joined his family business. By 2001, he established Benid Industries Limited, which has since grown to include multiple subsidiaries and a substantial workforce.
Bartholomew passed through the tutelage and mentorship of his Elder brother Benjamin Idoko in 1998, experience which really imparted his success story.
His company received certifications from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) by 2005, further solidifying its position in the industry.
Aside from his business acumen, Idoko has made significant strides in philanthropy.

He founded the Kakaraka Football Club, supported underprivileged communities, provided scholarships to students and initiated the drilling of boreholes in various communities, positively impacting the lives of many Nigerians.
In addition to the honorary doctorate, Idoko was celebrated for his leadership and humanitarian contributions, which have earned him several accolades, including the ICON of Security Ambassador Award in 2023 from the Coalition of Nigeria Youths on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA), as well as the Award of Excellence from Oba Alejo of Ikare Land.
During the ceremony, Idoko expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasising the importance of industrial relations in fostering organizational success and societal well-being.
He also encouraged young Nigerians to pursue excellence in their respective fields, underscoring the need for integrity, hard work, and a commitment to service.
The event was attended by prominent figures from the business, academic, and government sectors, and it served as an inspiring moment to reflect on the role of leadership in driving national development. Dr. Idoko’s honorary doctorate further cements his status as a leading figure in Nigeria’s business and philanthropic landscapes.
