    Former Nigeria international, Ikechukwu Uche scored for his struggling Spanish second division team, Gimnastic Tarragona in a 4-2 loss at Girona over the weekend.
    Gimnastic are bottom on the league table with 16 points in 19 games. The 32-year-old scored in the 26th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead.
    The former Recreativo de Huelva hitman has now scored five goals in 17 games.

    • Achieves feat in 23,829 minutes of match time

    Ikechukwu Uche scored his 100th goal since he arrived in Spain 14 years ago on Sunday afternoon, as Villarreal played out a 1 – 1 draw with his former club, Getafe, in La Liga.

    Before the start of this season, the Nigeria international had netted 94 goals cumulatively for Racing Ferrol, Recreativo de Huelva, Getafe, Real Zaragoza, Granada and Villarreal.

    He was on 99 goals before today’s game against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, Madrid, and he increased that tally by one after converting a spot – kick in the 52nd minute.

    It took Ikechukwu Uche 23,829 minutes of match time before reaching 100 goals, and he averaged 0.28 goals per game in 352 matches.

    His brother Kalu Uche, now with Levante, has found the back of the net 49 times for his Spanish clubs.

    Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche has sent get well wishes to retired Nigeria international Wilfred Agbonavbare.

    The former New Nigeria Bank glovesman is battling against cancer at a hospital bed in Spain after he was flown from the United States.

    “My prayer for Wilfred, former Nigerian legend goalkeeper. #FuerzaWilfred. My support for his family and friends, ” said Ike Uche on Twitter.

    Now 48, Wilfred Agbonavbare was in between the pipes at the FIFA U-20s in 1983 when Nigeria met Holland, and he stopped a certain Marco Van Basten from scoring, as both teams played a goalless draw.

    He spent six seasons at Rayo Vallecano before joining écija.

    The second – leg matches of the Copa del Rey continued on Wednesday and one of the fixtures involved Villarreal and Real Sociedad.

    The Yellow Submarine qualified for the next stage of the competition after drawing 2 – 2 with the home team, thus qualifying 3 – 2 on aggregate, having won the first leg 1 – 0 at Camp El Madrigal .

    For the second straight match in the Cup, Nigeria international Ikechukwu Uche was rested but he offered his support to his teammates before and after the tie with Real Sociedad.

    “Well done guys! Proud of my team! Congratulations! We qualify for next round in King’s Cup and will face #GetafeCF #EndavantVillarreal,” Ikechukwu Uche said on Twitter.

    By the way, the former Getafe man will score his 100th league goal since he started playing professionally in Spain if he finds target against Athletic Club on Saturday.

    Ike Uche praises Villarreal teammates

    Villareal striker, Ikechukwu Uche, has hailed his side’s 1-0 win over David Moyes’ Real Sociedad in the Spanish Cup round of 16 clash at the Estadio El Madrigal on Wednesday night.

    The 31-year old was an unused substitute in the narrow win over David Moyes’ men, but didn’t fail to congratulate his teammates for securing the win over their rivals.

    “Victoria importante y trabajada esta noche contra @RealSociedad en #CopaDelRey Enhorabuena

    chicos! @VillarrealCF #EndavantVillarreal,” he tweeted in Spanish, which translates to English as “Good victory tonight against @RealSociedad Well done guys! @VillarrealCF #EndavantVillarreal #CopaDelRey.”

    Uche looked on from the bench as Russian import, Denis Cheryshev scored what proved to be the winner after 71 minutes,almost ten minutes after being introduced.

    And the former Real Zaragoza forward couldn’t hide his appreciation as he further tweeted: “Victoria importante y trabajada esta noche contra @RealSociedad en #CopaDelRey Enhorabuena chicos,” which means “Important and hard-fought victory tonight against RealSociedad in #CopaDelRey Congratulations guys” when translated to English.

    The win for Villareal means they go into next week’s second leg with an advantage over Sociedad,who only over the weekend, defeated former European champions Barcelona 1-0 in the La Liga.

    The Nigerian has scored six goals for the Yellow Submarines in all competitions this season, and will be expecting to play a part when they visit the San Sebastian for the return leg next Wednesday.

    Nigeria international Ike Uche began 2015 with a bang as he scored in Villarreal’s 2-2 draw at Elche on Saturday.

    The 30-year-old striker has now scored five goals in 15 games this season and Villarreal are now sixth on the Spanish La Liga table with 31 points from 17 matches.

    Uche scored in the 17th minute to put his club 2-0 ahead, before the hosts scored two goals to earn a point.

    The former Real Zaragoza player lasted for 75 minutes before he was replaced by Giovanni Dos Santos.

    He thanked the fans for supporting the club throughout the encounter.

    “2-2 draw against #elche Thank you fans for supporting us all game long. Keep working for next game @VillarrealCF,” Uche tweeted.

    Ike uche unveils new boots for Congo, Bafana cracker

    Nigerians will see recalled Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche put on a new pair of adidas boots when the country takes on Republic of the Congo in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers at the Pointe Noire stadium on November 15.

    The Villarreal striker, who has been included in coach Stephen Keshi’s 25 man squad for the double header fixture against Sudan and South Africa, celebrated his return by unveiling a new set of boots and thanking his sponsor, Adidas on his official twitter handle.

    “@ikeuche9: My new shoes #PredatorInstinct, thanks @adidas_ES!”, he twitted.

    Nigeria have scored just five goals and conceded the same number in four matches in the ongoing qualifying rounds where they are now third on Group A log with four points behind leaders, South Africa (8points)and Congo (7points).

    However, the inclusion of the former Getafe striker who has scored 18 goals in 44 appearances for the national team, will heave a sigh of relief to fans that have been clamouring for his return.

    Uche, who was unarguably the best Nigerian striker in Europe last season, recently reached a 100 goal-mark in Spain.

    Coach Stephen Keshi has called up 25 players for the must-win 2015 Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Red Devils of Congo and Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

    Much –respected, Spain –based striker Ikechukwu Uche has been called for the first time in nearly two years, and there is also a first senior team opportunity for Nasarawa United midfielder Tony Edjomari.

    Home –based defender Solomon Kwambe also returns, and Aaron Samuel (who got one of the goals against Sudan), Hope Akpan, Sunday Emmanuel and home –boy Emem Eduok have further chances after being called for the matches against the Falcons of Sudan.

    Skipper and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, defenders Godfrey Oboabona and Elderson Echiejile, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi and Mikel Obi, and forwards Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike and Babatunde Michael are also invited.

    All the players are expected to report at the Bolton White Apartments, Wuse, Abuja on Sunday, November 9.

    The Spanish La Liga has left out Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche from the three nominees for the best African star for the past season.

    Last season, Uche netted 14 goals for Villarreal but was overlooked by former Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi for the World Cup in Brazil.

    Last week, Uche celebrated scoring his 100th goal in Spain.

    Cameroon skipper Stephane Mbia, who featured for Seville, was also not considered for the top prize.

    The three nominees for the best African star in the La Liga are Yacine Brahimi of Algeria who featured for Granada before he moved to FC Porto; Morocco’s Youssef Al Arabi, who scored 12 goals for Granada last season, and Seydou Keita of Mali, who featured for Valencia before he moved to Italy.

    The ceremony to announce the winner will be staged on Monday.

    INVITATION SAGA Ike Uche to Keshi: You lied

    Nigerian international, Ikechukwu Uche has denied claims by Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi that he was contacted for the games against Congo and South Africa which he bluntly refused.

    The Villarreal striker, who expressed his anger via his Twitter handle lastnight, said he was never contacted by the team’s secretary, Dayo Enebi.

    “Important to clear the air. I never spoke to the Nigeria team secretary about SA visa or demand to have a word with the coach at any time,” he tweeted.

    He however wished the Super Eagles the best as they play Sudan in AFCON qualifying match on Saturday.

    “We have important games against Sudan. It should be the focus of the players. I wish the team all the best in the Nations Cup qualifiers.”
