The Nigerian Army has commissioned seven newly renovated Corporal Below Quarters and three units of two-bedroom Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO) Quarters at Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos State.

The commissioning took place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, as part of the ongoing working visit of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. O.O. Oluyede, to Lagos. Speaking at the event, Oluyede emphasized that the project aligns with his commitment to enhancing soldiers’ welfare through improved housing and living conditions.

He urged the intended occupants to maintain the renovated buildings properly, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to providing better welfare packages and opportunities for its personnel.

The event was attended by top military officials, including Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division; Major General E. Akerejola, Chief of Logistics (Army); and Brigadier General O.M. Oyekola, Commander of the 9 Brigade, Ikeja.

The renovation project was handled by Green Lunar Nigeria Limited, whose Managing Director, Engr. Adewumi Oyekola, and CEO, Olaniyi Odina, were present at the commissioning. Oyekola praised the Nigerian Army for its trust in the company, describing the collaboration as a unique and valuable opportunity.

Odina acknowledged the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T.A. Lagbaja, for initiating the project and commended Lt. Gen. Oluyede for ensuring its timely completion. He also expressed appreciation for Major General Akerejola’s support in facilitating the project.

“The Nigerian Army is a dependable and financially disciplined client that prioritizes quality over profit,” Odina stated. He further expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with the Army on technology deployment, procurement, and logistics support.
