    Ikeja Dynamic wins best Lions Club

    Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club has emerged best among clubs in the Lions Club International District 404B2, Nigeria jurisdiction.

    Ikeja Viva Lamour came second, while Lagos Pacific Lions Club came third.

    Also, Lion Adedeji Olukokun and Lion Opeyemi Sanyaolu emerged as Lion of the year.

    The immediate past District Governor, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, who did a yeoman’s job presenting awards to winners all night, got presented with an Appreciation Award for his contribution towards the planning of the World Sickle Cell Awareness Day.

    The highly glamorous gathering of Lions in the district was held on Sunday July 6, at the Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

    Categories of awards included the Humanitarian Pillars Awards, Service Excellence Awards, Exceptional Service Awards, Top 10 Clubs of the Year Awards, Outstanding Service Appreciation Awards, Lion of the Year Award, Outstanding Region Chairperson Award, Outstanding Zone Chairperson Award among others.

    Reflecting on the past Lions’ year, Senbanjo in the Lions Club Year Book, said the District impacted over 100,000 lives through community service, even as he charged fellow Lions to “continue to serve with passion, purpose, and pride”.

    In his goodwill message, the International Third Vice President, Dr. Manoj Shah congratulated the district, saying, “Your unwavering dedication has echoed deeply within the communities you serve, bringing hope, change, and inspiration.

    Yuletide: Lions Club fetes 150 with food packs

    Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club yesterday held its December Service Activity tagged: Hunger Relief Project.

    The event, held at Agidingbi Town Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, had over 150 people going home with food packs of rice, spaghetti, and garri.

    According to the club president, Lion Adeola Boluogun, the gesture was in accordance with one of the club’s focus areas of providing hunger relief.

    “We decided on the hunger relief project, first because it is festive season; and two, because Lions Club is known for food security; and we all know how hard things are, especially for the common man. So we decided to support people in the community today with food. Christmas will be in a few days and we want everybody to be able to celebrate Christmas in their homes, no matter how austere. Today, we have been able to reach out to between 150 to 200 persons, amongst whom are widows, single mothers, and men for whom things are not going well. ”Boluogun said.

    Club gives out 50 eyeglasses, renovate public school

    Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club has given out about 50 eyeglasses to residents in the Agidingbi/Ikeja axis and environs.

    The club also seized the opportunity to unveil the newly renovated and equipped children’s section of the Agidingbi Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos which it undertook.

    According to Lions Clubs District Governor 404B2 Nigeria, Lion Professor Dayo Fagbohun, the gesture to distribute eyeglasses was a core project of the club as adopted after visually impaired Helen Keller charged the club back in 1925 to light up the world.

    Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, First Vice District Governor for Lion District 404B2 Nigeria and LCI District Coordinator, traced the background to the glasses distribution to the medical outreach tagged: ‘The Love Free Medical Mission, Legacy Project 3.0’ held at the same venue a few weeks back.

    About the massive school renovation feat, Senbanjo said the Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club had to go into a lot of partnerships, especially with Lions Club international Foundation, which provided a huge chunk of the fund, as well as with private organisations like Kids Décor and Stylo Furniture.

    President of the club, Lion Opeyemi Sanyaolu said the inspiration to renovate the crèche section of the school was rooted in his love for children as well as his belief that children of public schools should not feel that they are deprived of certain privileges because they are of public schools.

    “They should have equal opportunities with children in the privileged schools, which is why we have come to ensure that the classrooms are top-notch,” he said.
