    Monarchs back council chair for re-election

    Trditional rulers in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State have endorsed the Chairman, Akogun Anomo for a second term.

    The monarchs promised to mobilise tbe electorate to vote for him during the fourth Ikosi-Ejinrin SME Grant: “Okoowo Anomo,”  with an injection of over N60 million into council economy.

    At the secretariat for the ceremony were political leaders, labour unions, leaders of associations and grassroots stakeholders.

    One thousand and two hundred people received grants and other empowerment programmes. 

    Onomo, explaining reason for the programme,  said: “Our mission is to take many off economic vulnerability. This is  purpose.”

    Also, new vehicles were donated to the six monarchs of the LCDA to support them in the discharge of their responsibilities. 

    Beneficiaries are Oba Rafiu Balogun (Ejalonibu II), Elejinrin of Ejinrin; Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe (Jamade I), Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu; Oba Saheed Momson (Mabudeje Aduloju III), Abowa of Agbowa; Oba Mushafau Olofin-Ajaiye, Olori-Ido of Orugbo-Iddo; Oba Nelson Ogunlari (Ogundalu II), Olowu of Owu-Ikosi; and  Oba Elias Adedapo (Ijelu I),  Olota of Otta-Ikosi.

    According to Onomo’s Chief Press Secretary, Areh Abdulhamid, the monarchs lauded Anomo for his  achievements, inclusive governance, and humble leadership style, explaining that these feats motivated them to purchase his APC nomination form for him.

     They declared that “Anomo has served diligently and selflessly,” urging other aspiring candidates—whom they described as “our sons as well”—to join hands with the incumbent to continue moving Ikosi-Ejinrin forward.

    Presenting the official vehicles to the monarchs was the Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji Shakiru Akanni Seriki (BAMU), APC Apex Leader in Epe Division and a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).

    He praised Anomo’s uncommon performance in governance and reaffirmed the party’s full endorsement of his second term bid.

     Anomo thanked the royal fathers, political leaders, market leaders, artisans, and all stakeholders who have endorsed his return. “Your love has overwhelmed me,” he said, “and I rededicate myself to your service with a renewed sense of humility and duty. I will not take this for granted, pledging to bring even more dividends of democracy to the people if re-elected. He emphasized that the “Okoowo Anomo” initiative is not politically motivated but a sincere effort to boost the local economy and uplift struggling families. “We are simply committed to reducing poverty and strengthening our local commerce.

    The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Ganiyu Aderibigbe, bestowed a chieftaincy title – Otunba Akogun of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, on the Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akogun Wale Anomo during his inspection to the community.

    The council boss was conferred with a surprise chieftaincy title while inspecting ongoing construction of the Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) building in Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom.

    The event coincided with his birthday celebration.

    According to the monarch, the honour bestowed on Anomo on his birthday was in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Odo-Ayandelu and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

    Oba Aderibigbe praised Anomo’s strategic distribution of projects across the communities, noting that no previous council boss had achieved as much.

    “The title is a testament to Anomo’s impact, including the provision of a 500kva transformer, construction of the Epe Divisional headquarters of the NSCDC building, and promised community hall. His commitment to rural electrification, education, and citizen support has earned him the respect and admiration of the people,” he explained.

    The monarch promised supports from the people of Odo-Ayandelu for Anomo’s second-term bid as Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

    Anomo expressed gratitude to the monarch and the Alayandelu-in-Council for the honorary title.

    The council reassured the community that he remains focused on delivering more development projects, describing the title as a recognition and motivation for his continued leadership.

    The Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, has convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at Itoikin community towards the construction of Lagbeja-Agric Road in the Community.

    At the meeting, important discussions and clarifications were made towards ensuring that the road construction is completed without any hitch.

    The road construction project spans a length of 418 meters and is 7.3 meters wide. Apart from being a major diversion aimed at decongesting traffic on the express, it is also a feeder road for many streets in the community.

    Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Anomo, said the project is funded entirely by Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. When completed, Anomo said, the Lagbeja-Agric Road will become a point of historical reference not only in Ward R1 but also in Itoikin Community as it is the first road construction to be carried out by the LCDA in Ward R1 since its establishment.

    It will also be the first tarred road in the whole of Itoikin Community, he added.

    He said the timeline for the project is six months.

    He congratulated residents of the community for the infrastructure while urging them to be cooperative with the contractors, ensure that all necessary support is given to their workers from inception to the completion of the project.

    He also beckoned on the contractor to patronize local material suppliers to foster economic growth within the community.

    He called on the contractor to create opportunities for employment, particularly targeting the vibrant and capable youth demography, thereby fostering socio-economic development and empowerment at the grassroots level.

    The Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment towards dishing out dividends of democracy to his constituents.

     The LCDA inaugurated a block of three classrooms at LG Central Primary School, Agbowa-Ikosi, equipped with Marker boards, furniture for both teachers and pupils, and instructional materials.

     In addition to the new classrooms, the council also constructed a security post, procured and installed a new gate, generating set, as well as pipe-borne water for the use of the school.

     Not less than 500 pupils of the school received the Ikosi-Ejinrin Complete School pack. Each pack contained 10 exercise books, writing materials like pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, etc. Pupils in Primary 5 & 6 had a portable dictionary and mathematical set added to theirs to prepare them for secondary education.

     Recognizing the need for adequate classroom furniture, Anomo also procured several Scholar flip-top desks and chairs for the use of pupils in the kindergarten and nursery classes.

     He announced that the newly constructed block is built in honor of a living Political Legend, Chief Olufemi Dehinsilu, in recognition of his numerous contributions to the development and growth of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA and Epe Division as a whole.

     Reaffirming his commitment to bringing positive change to every major sector of development in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Anomo announced infrastructural initiatives as well as economic programs aimed at assisting residents.

     “In about two weeks’ time, we shall be breaking the ground for Officers’ Quarters at Ketu Police Station. We shall also be commissioning a block of three classrooms at Ejinrin. The contractors handling Koyo road will also be back on site fully as we can see their equipment there already,” he said.

     To the delight of the Market Leaders at the program, Anomo also announced the phase 3 of the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Traders support program and the maiden edition of the Ikosi-Ejinrin Students Bursary and Scholarship initiative aimed at assisting and supporting indigent indigenes in Tertiary Institutions.

     Abowa of Agbowa Kingdom, Oba Saheed Owolabi Momson, commended Anomo for his giant strides in the education sector and his commitment to the general development of the council.

     He expressed gratitude for the commissioning of the new block of classrooms, which signifies progress and a brighter future for the community, urging residents to protect and own it jealously.

     Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu, showered encomium on Anomo for his commitment and relentless investment in the education sector, encouraging him not to rest on his oars as he pledged continuous support and partnership from LASUBEB.

     The Education Secretary, Epe LGEA, Otunba Shittu Idowu, also expressed appreciation to Anomo for his contributions in transforming the education landscape within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

    The building was opened by Dr Shittu.

    The Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, Akogun Wale Anomo, has inaugurated a block of three classrooms at LG Primary School, Otta-Ikosi.

    Anomo also provided chairs and desks, and other learning materials, including white marker boards, needed to make teaching and learning an enjoyable activity for both teachers and pupils.

    Dignitaries at the event included Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun, the Elejinrin of Ejinrin; Oba Elias Omoloro Adedapo (IJELU 1), the Olota of Otta-Ikosi;  Oba (Bldr.) Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu; Oba Saheed Owolabi Momson, the Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi; Oba Nelson Obayomi Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi; Pioneer Chairman of the LCDA, Alhaji Ganiyu Adio Akintola; former Chairman Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Ganiyu Adetola; Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu; SLG, Miniru Temitope and other members of the Executive cabinet; Council Manager, Mr. Sunday Awobajo and members of the management team, APC Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Apex Leaders, Alhaji Haveez Thanni, Chairman Otta-Ikosi Indigenes Forum; Epe LGEA Education Secretary Shittu Aliu Idowu amongst others.

    Anomo emphasized that the inauguration was in fulfillment of his campaign promise to invest heavily in education.

    He said: “This newly unveiled block of three classrooms is not just about bricks and mortar. It is a symbol – a testament to our unwavering commitment to building a brighter future for Ikosi-Ejinrin, one where education thrives and every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

    He highlighted various initiatives undertaken by his administration in the education sector since the inception of the administration, including the Ikosi-Ejinrin School Bus Shuttle, distribution of Ikosi-Ejinrin complete school packs, investment in teaching aids, distribution of brush-cutters, and rewarding excellence, as seen in the celebration of Miss Sofiat Mohammed, the 2022 Lagos State Spelling Bee winner from Baptist Day Primary School, Agbowa.

    He appreciated various stakeholders in the LCDA for the support given to his administration.

    He also commended members of the Executive council, Legislators, management team, and members of staff for their diligence in discharging and working collaboratively with him.

     He reiterated his commitment to the progress of Ikosi-Ejinrin, saying: “I stand before you, not just with the accomplishment of this day, but with the unwavering commitment to serve you, to dedicate every ounce of my being to the betterment of our community. We will build more schools, equip them with resources, and empower our teachers.

    “As we stand on the cusp of a new era in the transformation of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, let me assure you all that my commitment to discharging my duties to the best of my abilities remains unwavering.”

    The special guest, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), appreciated the Chairman for being a worthy associate who is unrelenting in complementing the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in standardizing education in the state.

    Dr Shittu retorted that the investment in basic education shouldn’t be left to the hands of the government alone, as primary education is the foundation and when the foundation is solid, whatever is erected on it will stand. He urged the beneficiaries to make use of the facility judiciously.

    The Olota of Otta-Ikosi, Oba Elias Adedapo, commended the chairman for delivering the project and investing in the future of the community through the provision of quality education attesting to the numerous activities which the chairman has done as he offered heartfelt prayers to the chairman for staying true to Changing the narratives for good in Ikosi-Ejinrin.

    APC Chairman Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Wittu- Ajenifuja, appreciated the Chairman for his numerous projects and programs and importantly for making the Party proud, carrying Leaders along and delivering on his campaign promises, imploring him to continue on the great path he has started.
