    inDrive okays N75million relief to demolitions victims

    inDrive has provided over N75 million in relief to Lagos residents displaced by recent demolitions. The initiative, delivered in partnership with humanitarian organisation, Tolu Aniwura Welfare Foundation (GenerousMe) took place at St. Paul Catholic Church, Ebute-Metta, and supports families and individuals affected by the community displacement.

    The intervention reaches more than 2,000 beneficiaries, providing essential food items, clothing, bedding, baby care products, and school supplies.

    This support also extends to individuals who had previously benefited from inDrive-backed social impact programmes, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to empowering vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

    The relief packages included essential dry food items such as rice, beans, garri, noodles, spaghetti, cooking oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, and salt. Beneficiaries also received clothing, blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets, rechargeable lamps, power banks, and baby care items, as well as school packs containing bags, exercise books, and writing materials for children.

    Speaking on the intervention, Country Representative, inDriveNigeria, Timothy Oladimeji, explained that the initiative reflects the company’s people-first approach and its commitment to responding directly to urgent community challenges while maintaining a focus on long-term empowerment across its markets.

    “At inDrive, we believe that our responsibility goes beyond providing mobility services; it extends to standing with communities during moments of need. The recent demolitions left many families vulnerable, and through our partnership with GenerousMe, we were able to respond quickly and responsibly.     inDrive begins superApp rollout

    inDrive, the world’s second most downloaded ride-hailing app, has announced its first SuperApp rollout in Kazakhstan.

    The move followed the company’s growth in delivery, with over 41 million deliveries completed globally in 2024 and over 14 million in second quarter 2025, making it one of the fastest-scaling categories in the company’s portfolio.

    Over the next 12 months, inDrive will roll out its SuperApp to other key frontier economies, including Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Pakistan, Egypt, Brazil, and Morocco.

    Nigeria is a priority market for the company and is already being considered as one of the next countries where the SuperApp will be launched.

    The SuperApp is modular by design, built to adapt to the needs of each market rather than follow a one-size-fits-all blueprint.

    At the heart of the rollout is inDrive.Groceries, a new service that allows users to order from more than 5,000 products with delivery in as little as 15 minutes. Early pilots have shown remarkable traction: an NPS of 83% and an average of fivegrocery orders per user per month — clear signs that grocery, as a high-frequency service, can anchor daily engagement and strengthen loyalty across the platform.

    In his remarks, Chief Growth Businesses Officer, inDrive, Andries Smit, stated that the new application is a daily-needs vertical that drives repeat engagement, strengthens loyalty, and opens the door for cross-selling into mobility, courier, fintech, and beyond.

    “Grocery is the high-frequency anchor that brings people back every day, and early results show how much potential there is when users can find more touchpoints with our platform. Our model differs because we don’t roll out everything everywhere at once. We introduce the services that matter most to each city, while staying true to our principles of fairness, transparency, and choice. That makes this SuperApp strategy scalable and sustainable,” Smit said.

    With eight verticals already in play, inDrive is laying the foundation for a SuperApp designed not for saturated global markets, but for the frontier economies where equitable access to services can make the most meaningful difference.

    Evidence from early SuperApp rollouts shows great potential. A recent sample survey of 16 focus cities revealed that people using more than one service generate two to four times higher GMV and show over 15 percentage points higher retention compared to single-vertical users.

    inDrive is venturing beyond mobility into multiple verticals, using delivery and grocery as anchor services and powerful cross-sell mechanisms across its ecosystem.

    inDrive, global ride-hailing platform, has introduced a reduced commission rate of 0.1 per cent for drivers in Abuja during peak hours. The initiative aims to increase driver earnings and support their operations during high-demand periods.

    This initiative, according to management, is to help drivers retain nearly all their earnings during the busiest periods of the day, thereby boosting income and easing the pressure of rising living costs. The new initiative will apply to rush hours in the week.

    Country Representative, Oladimeji Timothy, said the initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to increase drivers’ earnings and reaffirm its commitment to fairness and empowerment.

    “This initiative is part of our commitment to put drivers first. With  0.1 per cent commission during peak hours, drivers in Abuja can keep almost everything they earn, especially when demand is highest. It’s will put more money in their hands,” he said.

    inDrive is recognised for its peer-to-peer pricing model, which allows drivers and passengers to negotiate and agree on fares. This approach, combined with one of the lowest commission structures in the industry, ensures drivers maintain more control over their income compared to traditional ride-hailing platforms.

    “On weekdays, the 0.1% commission rate applies at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. On weekends, the offer extends further, including additional evening slots to give drivers more flexibility and higher earning potential during periods of peak demand,” Oladimeji said.

    Ride hailing firm, inDrive, has restated its commitment to making its service as reliable and secure as possible.  It said over the past year, it has seen incredible growth in new clients in Nigeria, with person-to-person (P2P) deliveries – such as parcels sent between friends, family, or individuals – tripling and B2B deliveries growing sixfold.

    Its Spokesperson and Senior Business Development, Timothy Oladimeji, who spoke when the company unveiled a list of essential delivery tips to help customers ensure the safe delivery of their items, said the platform has introduced many innovations to give users a memorable and safe delivery experience.

    “At inDrive, people trust us to deliver everything from daily essentials to meaningful gifts and special purchases. That’s why we are committed to making our service as reliable and secure as possible.     The list of essential delivery tips unveiled by the company include making a wise choice of courier, labelling of the item with the recipient’s name and address, indicating the fragility and weight of the item to a courier, choosing the right vehicle to transport the item(s), documentation of the item or package’s condition by taking a photo, wrapping the package with recycled materials, checking the courier’s rating and comments, camouflaging the contents of the package, delivering in person expensive items like high-end electronics, cash or jewellery.

    The essential tips was released against the backdrop of recent findings by the company, which analysed 5,000 comments left by Nigerians about their experiences with deliveries in 2024 and their appreciation of the most unusual deliveries and comments.

    According to the study, the top five delivery categories include Food (17per cent), Clothes (15per cent), Electronics (10per cent), Documents (four per cent), and Medicine (two per cent). Other notable categories are textiles and cosmetics, which show the broad spectrum of everyday needs for which Nigerians rely on delivery services.

    “In 2024, we introduced improvements to geo-tracking, enhanced courier selection based on ratings and feedback, and made ordering even more seamless. We always encourage users to choose couriers carefully, using our convenient rating system to ensure the best experience. While we strive to provide a safe and efficient service, we also recommend that users take extra care when sending high-value items, just as they would with any delivery service,” Oladimeji said.

    According to him, it is better always to select a courier with good ratings and positive feedback to ensure a safe and reliable delivery experience.

    Food deliveries took the lead, with items ranging from simple everyday meals to elaborate and carefully curated delicacies. While the most common food package is simply labelled “Food” (64per cent), some senders specify unique dishes, reflecting Nigeria’s rich culinary traditions.

    Among the most exotic and rare deliveries are 42 tubers of yams, 5 litres of soup, a bag filled with small chops, a box of pizza, a bowl of goat meat (asun), shawarma and ice cream. Clothes are also major items that dominate as many fashion-conscious Nigerians frequently send clothes through delivery services.

    Some of the unique fashion items spotted among deliveries include autogele i.e elaborate headgear used in traditional Nigerian fashion, aso-oke and asoebi i.e fabrics worn at special occasions and weddings, vintage shirts, waist trainers, wedding dresses, veils, and petticoats. Other unique items that have been delivered include esoteric crafts, a fragile bonsai tree, air fryer, bass guitar, PlayStation 5 game disc and excavator keys.

    Another significant trend is the delivery of gifts, with flowers, surprise presents, and hampers being among the most commonly sent. The Nigerian love for celebration and appreciation is evident in these thoughtful deliveries.

     Azeez said they would engage with others  to ensure a win-win situation for all.
