    All Progressive Congress (APC) national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, along with Senators Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North), Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Sharafadeen Alli (Oyo South), and former Senator Teslim Folarin, were among the prominent figures who paid their final respects to the late Oyo State APC Chairman, Isaac Omodewu, as he was laid to rest amidst an emotional farewell on Friday, September 13.

    Other dignitaries in attendance included former NCC Chairman, Prof. Adeolu Akande, former Oyo deputy governors, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan and Moses Adeyemo, APC deputy national chairman, Isaac Kekemenke, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, APC State Secretary Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, Bimbo Kolade, Toye Arulogun, Hon. Remi Oladeji, Shina Alabi, Abass Aleshinloye, and party spokesman Olawale Sadare, among others.

    The funeral service, which was held at First Baptist Church, Otu, in the Itesiwaju local government area of Oyo state, was attended by a large crowd of mourners, who came to bid farewell to the late chairman.

    It would be recalled that Omodewu passed away on August 19th in the United States of America after a brief illness at the age of 61 years.

    He was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and later Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the administration of late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

    In his message at the burial event, Ganduje, who was represented by the APC deputy national chairman, Isaac Kekemenke said the party was sad with the death of Omodewu.

    He condoled with the family, saying they should take solace in Omoodewu’s death and not be derailed.

    He said APC at the national level will make sure Oyo APC remain one to achieve its aims and objectives.

    In his remark, Senator Sharafadeen Alli described Omodewu as a dedicated and committed party man who worked tirelessly to rebuild APC in Oyo state.

    He stated that the deceased was an astute administrator, adding that the party is going to miss him because his effort and contributions cannot be over-emphasised.

    He, however, urged party members to take solace in the legacy he left behind and to continue working towards the realisation of the APC’s vision for Oyo state.

    Also, Senator Fatai Buhari described Omoodewu’s death as a great loss to the party, saying the deceased has left a legacy that can never die.

    “He tried his best for our party, he won three Senatorial seats, and nine House of Representatives seats for us despite having a sitting governor who belonged to the opposition party.

    Meanwhile, as the body of the late chairman was lowered into the grave, emotions ran high as mourners struggled to hold back tears.

    Though his passing has left a big gap in the Oyo APC family, his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate party members to work towards the realisation of the APC’s vision for the Oyo state.

    In his sermon, Rev. John Oyelade described Omodewu as a kind man who has touched many lives while alive.

    He urged Nigerian leaders to always be good to their followers because life is short, adding that Omoodewu’s death should be a lesson and an eye-opener for everybody.

    “We must know that death is a reminder of a day of reforming, death gives us the opportunity of repentance.”

    Tears and tributes flowed freely on Friday when the body of the late Oyo All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Isaac Omodewu, arrived his hometown, Otu community in Itesiwaju local government area for burial. 

    Omodewu passed away on August 19 in United States of America after brief illness at 61.

    He was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and later Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the administration of late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

    The body, which was accompanied by party leaders, government officials and family members, was received by a large crowd of mourners who gathered to pay their last respects to their late son.

    As the body arrived, emotions ran high as mourners struggled to hold back tears, remembering the late chairman’s contributions to the APC in Oyo state.

    The late chairman’s hometown was adorned with banners and posters celebrating his life and legacy. 

    Party members and well-wishers took turns to pay respects to the late chairman, offering words of comfort to the family. 

    The atmosphere was filled with sorrow and grief as mourners remembered the late chairman’s dedication, commitment and passion for the APC.

    The final journey of Isaac Omodewu, the late Oyo State APC Chairman, commenced as his body arrived at the Oyo APC Secretariat in Ibadan for a lying-in-state ceremony.

    This will be followed by a Christian wake-keep at Victoria Garden Event Centre, located opposite The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

    Omodewu, who passed away on August 19th in the United States after a brief illness at the age of 61, was transported from Lagos to the Oke-Ado APC Secretariat.

    The arrival was met with a sombre atmosphere as party leaders, government officials, and family members gathered to pay their respects.

    The lying-in-state ceremony offers party members and well-wishers a chance to honour the late chairman.

    The APC Secretariat has been decorated with banners and posters celebrating Omodewu’s life and legacy.
