As part of efforts to encourage youths participation in sports, the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has commissioned a newly built basketball court in Oleh, the administrative headquarters of the LGA.
The facility situated at Isoko Central School, Oleh, was designed to promote youth development through sports and education, the Council boss stated.
Noting that Delta state has produced several national and international talents in sports, he posited that youths with sports talents could become self-reliant, not go hungry.
For the project’s initiators, the Oleh Progressive Minds Association (OPMA), the facility would provide underprivileged youths access to quality sports infrastructure, mentorship opportunities, and educational support.
Its President, Paul Ogba, in his address, emphasized the symbolic and personal significance of the project, stating it was created for values of discipline, dignity and service in line with the association’s objectives.
Ogba noted that the initiative aligns with the objectives of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly in promoting quality education, youth empowerment, and community development.

We urge you to embrace it with passion, dedication, and a spirit of sportsmanship. Let it be a place where you not only refine your skills, but also build character, confidence, and a mind-set of excellence and make friends,” Ogba charged.
