Long term injury worry, Solomon Kwmbe, SportingLife was told has recovered from the facial injury he copped during the first stanza in Maiduguri against El Kanemi Warriors and has started jogging ahead of his anticipated return to football.

The out-of-favour Super Eagles’ defender will hope to stem up training at the gym with a view to playing in the some of the remaining matches of the season.

Ex- Enyimba, 3SC and Sunshine Stars’ striker, Cletus Itodo has also brushed aside his toe worries and has fully recovered and is available for selection for this weekend clash with Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja while Nanen Imenger who before now was nursing a groin injury has also overcome his complaints and has been declared fit to play.

Lobi’s top scorer, Anthony Okpotu who copped an injury in Uyo against Akwa United last weekend in his comeback game for the club has resumed light training too.

Plateau Utd to remain focused, says Itodo

Daniel Itodo has urged Plateau United to focus on one game at a time in the home stretch of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League campaign.

“I think the only target we need to set ourselves is to win as many games as we can before the end of the season and see what position that takes us to,” Itodo told Goal.

“There are many teams still fighting against relegation and we are one of them. I believe that at the end of the campaign we won’t go down. Let’s just take it a game at a time and see where that takes us. Hopefully we can finish the season strongly.”

The Jos-based outfit currently occupy 16th position in the league table and face a tough test against Lobi Stars this weekend.

Plateau United will next face Lobi Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium on Sunday.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) attacking midfielder, Cletus Itodo has promised to net more goals for the side in the remaining 10 matches of the ongoing league season.

The former Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars player has netted two goals for the Oluyole Warriors in his short stint with the Ibadan warlords.

Itodo said emphatically that he will be primed to contest for the top scorer’s gong by the time the ongoing season will come to an end.

“My first goal for 3SC was the 3-1 defeat of Heartland in Oba while the second was the 2-1 win against former side, Sunshine Stars in Ibadan at the weekend.

“I thank God for the ones I have scored I strongly believe I will score more goals in the days to come to even challenge for the top scorers’ award.

“It looks laughable at the moment considering the fact that some players have already scored as many as 12, 13 goals with 10 matches left on the season’s calendar.

“For me impossibility is nothing, I will strengthen myself and work hard towards achieving the target,” said Itodo to supersport.com.

Itodo said his side will not comeback empty-handed in the NPFL match day 29 clash at Enugu Rangers on Sunday.

“Rangers are traditional side in the domestic league and almost impregnable at home but that profile will not change the fact that on match day it will be 11 players on each side.

“We will work very hard to challenge for the three points at stake, if we cannot take the whole points we cannot miss taking a point from the clash.

“Our dream is to finish among the top three at the end of the season so we need all the points we can garner to be on the path to realising our target,” said Itodo.

The Ibadan outfit are ninth on the 20-team Nigerian top flight on 41 points 11 points adrift league leaders, Enyimba.

    Itodo returns against Heartland

Sunshine Stars midfielder, Cletus Itodo will be available for selection in his side’s mid-week Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 14 clash against leaders, Heartland at the Akure Township Stadium.

The experienced Nigerian playmaker has not been in his side’s line-up in the last four league matches due to severe typhoid fever attack but has declared himself fit for the top flight game.

The Akure Gunners managed pitiable one point from a possible 12 in the last four games to 3SC, ABS, El-Kanemi Warriors and Sharks to bring their total earning to 18 leaving them in 10th spot on the 20-team elite league log.

Itodo said the game against the NPFL leaders is important to his side making it a must play for any player who wishes the side well this season.

“I’m fit and will be available for selection against Heartland on Wednesday in Akure. The encounter is very important to us that every hand must be on deck to ensure we profit handsomely from the game.

“Heartland are enjoying the best of times at the moment so we must be at our very best to pick maximum points. We need the points badly to shore up our position on the log. It has not been good experience standing out in my team past three or four games, It has been painful seeing them go down and I couldn’t offer any hand of assistance no thanks to the typhoid fever that brought me down to my knees.

“I’m excited to be back and will give my very best should the coaches beckon on me. I’ll be happy to announce my return to the domestic league with an emphatic victory against Heartland. Every player understands the plight of the side at the moment and is raring to go against Heartland, I sincerely pray everything will turn out right in our favour on Wednesday,” said the former Dolphins defensive midfielder to supersport.com.

Sunshine Stars have failed to win in their last four games including the barren draw against ABS at home soil.

“We have capable replacements,” the former Under-20 international told supersport.com.
