Actor Jamiu Azeez has reacted to rumours suggesting he converted to Christianity, expressing frustration over the intense scrutiny surrounding his personal life.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the actor questioned why many Nigerians are deeply invested in his private decisions, asking whether they would be held accountable for the choices he makes.
Jamiu, who was recently seen attending a church service dressed in a white garment and holding a candle, said the action triggered what he described as “crazy” reactions across social media platforms.
He noted that he had received numerous critical comments on blogs, particularly on Facebook, as well as direct messages from individuals seeking to attack him online.
Emphasising his right to personal freedom, the actor said he is at liberty to practise any religion of his choice and that such decisions should not be a source of public controversy.

“It’s only in Nigeria that people are so bothered about another person’s life.
Imagine telling a man in his 40s how to live his life. I posted myself in a White Garment on the Cross Over night, and, man, the comments I have been reading in blogs, especially on Facebook, are crãzy. Some even came to my DM to drag me, like bro, you will not be accountable for my life, oo.
“I can choose to practice any religion, and that should not be anyone’s problem. I never even come out to say I have converted oo. Una wan kpai me. No worry, I go wear Babalowo cloth tomorrow,” he wrote.
