    JCI Eko empowers 150 graduates with skills

    No fewer than 150 graduates have had their skills honed at the JCI Eko’s After School (LAS) programme held at Ilaji Resort, Ibadan.

    The event themed “Post-Grad Playbook,” part of the JCI Nigeria Collegiate Conference, was attended by undergraduates, fresh graduates, NYSC corps members, and early-career professionals who were eager to gain practical knowledge for life after graduation.

    Keynote speaker, Mr. Abayomi Gbadamosi, spoke on career advancement, personal branding, financial literacy, and strategies for mastering after-school life.

    The panel discussion entitled, “Money, Moves, and Mindset”, explored career growth, financial empowerment, and personal development featured top industry leaders, who included the Head of Marketing, Smartcash, Mr. Sheriff Kolapo Ajibola;  and Head of Growth, Youverify, Mr. Hakeem O. Akiode.

    The panel moderator, Oluwadamilola E. Fawole, ensured that participants received advice and shared their experiences.

    Dignitaries at the training were National President, JCI Nigeria, JCIN Amb. Oluwatoyin Atanda; Collegiate Chairperson, Amira Abdullahi, National Vice President, Southwest District 1, Mariam Omolara Mohammed, and  Interim Executive Secretary, JCI Nigeria, JCI Sen. Sanni Babatunde Ajani.

    Others were Feyisayo Awopetu and Nusaybah Abdul Fattah.

    The event’s organising team was led by Abidemi Idayah. Alli-Balogun (Team Lead); President, JCI Eko, Babajide Faturoti and Vice President (Projects), Kingsley O. Okeke.

    JCI Eko celebrates 25th anniversary

    JUNIOR Chamber International (JCI) Eko has celebrated its 25th anniversary where it harped on  the virtues of good leadership, excellence and community impact. 

    At the event, which was held in Maryland, were past leaders, alumni, and members,who reflected on the  organisation’s achievements and the need for it to chart a course for the future.

    JCI Eko President, Babajide Faturoti, affirmed the organisation’s commitment to excellence.

    He said: “For 25 years, He said JCI Eko has become a beacon of hope for leadership and impact, empowering young members. This milestone is not just a celebration of our past but a call to do even more for our community.

    “This symbolic moment underscored JCI Eko’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of young leaders.

    “As JCI Eko looks to the future, its commitment to leadership development and community transformation remains steadfast. 

    Faturoti announced that next month, JCI Eko would host the JCI Nigeria Southern Conference entitled, Eko Düń, in Lagos. 

    “This highly anticipated gathering promises to set a new standard for engagement, collaboration, and impact within the JCI Nigeria community,” he added.

    The event was graced by JCI Nigeria President, Oluwatoyin Atanda, JCI Senator Adekunbi Wuraola, the first female President of JCI Nigeria, other National Board members and past JCI Nigeria presidents. 

    Atanda commended JCI Eko, saying it is one of the active and high-performing JCI organisations in Nigeria. She recognised JCI Eko president as the Most Outstanding  for February.

     The JCI Eko chartered president, Tunji Adekoya, sent his greetings. 

    Also, Samuel Olawale, who sent his greetings via Zoom, said over the years the organisation has moved from grace to grace, making milestones along the way. It has achieved its target in project execution and production of key officers at the national and continental levels of JCI, he added.

    Significantly, he noted, JCI Eko is among the top 10 best trainers in the organisation nationally.

    He charged them  on raising the bar, saying: 25 years should not be the end of your aspiration, but rather an ”opportunity to set more goals”.

    A key highlight of the event was the installation of Osi Apagun Lai Labode, the Managing Director/CEO of CashToken African (CeLD) Innovations Limited, as a JCI Eko Patron and induction of eight new members.

    JCI Eko cleans Lagos beach

    In a demonstration of its love for a clean environment, JCI Eko has spread its tentacles to Barracuda Beach, Lagos state.

     JCI said the beach had become polluted due to increased tourist activities and parties, necessitating cleaning, adding that its board emphasized the importance of tackling community issues creatively.

    The cleanup brought together JCI Eko members, who are professionals in their various fields, including its National Vice President, Mariam Mohammed, who were armed with gloves, waste bags, and eco-friendly tools, to address the problem of coastal pollution.

    They removed plastic waste, bottles, and other pollutants that threaten marine life and public health.

    Besides the immediate result of a cleaner beach, it said, the initiative raised awareness about sustainable practices and proper waste disposal.

    The project highlighted JCI Eko’s dedication to promoting the “Eko Way” among its members through its “Learn, Play, Network” mantra. It also showcased how community-driven initiatives could motivate others to play active roles in protecting and preserving natural resources.

    JCI Eko President, Jide Faturoti, remarked: “This cleanup is more than an environmental project; it’s a call to action for everyone to recognise the power of collective effort. Tackling problems in our community doesn’t always require massive resources sometimes, all it takes is the will to make a difference.

    “Through this initiative, JCI Eko has set an example of responsible leadership, reinforcing its mission to drive sustainable change while encouraging the local community to adopt environmentally friendly practices. Barracuda Beach now stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when creativity meets commitment.”

    JCI Eko celebrates young entrepreneurs

    JCI Eko has inaugurated its President, Babajide Faturoti, and board members.

     During the ceremony, JCI Eko celebrated its Social Enterprises Incubator (SEI) graduates.

    The event, at Agege, Lagos State, was attended by JCI senators, past presidents and families and friends.

    Outgoing President, Mariam Mohammed, hailed her performance, noting that they won awards, including Best JCI Award in Taiwan.

    Others were Eko Foundation, projects rebranding and Eko House.

    Social Enterprise Programme Director of JCI Eko, Terry Ferdinand, noted that the Incubator graduates had done well. Through partners, members accessed $25,000 and 5,000 euro grants.

    They won $10,000 at JCI Creative Young Entrepreneurs Award at JCI Africa and Middle East Conference. 

    “This journey was possible due to dedication of JCI Eko family; Mohammed; Vice President for Projects, Kingsley Okeke, and director of Brand Communication“.

    JCI Eko elects new officers at annual general meeting

    The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Eko has held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), where it elected new executive officers.

    The newly elected officers are President Babajide Faturoti, Executive Vice President Damilola Adeyemi, Vice President (Administration) Shukroh Adeyemi, and Vice President (Projects) Kingsley Okeke.

    The AGM featured key activities such as the presentation of directorate reports, a review of the organisation’s achievements and challenges over the past year, and the induction of the new officers.

    The main highlight of the meeting was the election of the new leadership team poised to steer JCI Eko into a vibrant future.

    The newly elected officers expressed their gratitude for the trust placed in them and pledged their dedication to advancing the mission of JCI Eko, fostering youth leadership, and driving impactful projects that contribute to societal growth.

    The AGM, attended by members, partners, and alumni, also celebrated the organisation’s achievements over the past year, reaffirming its commitment to developing young leaders and driving sustainable impact within the community.
