    Kano manufacturers seek direct power supply from NDPHC

    Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Jennifer Adighije, has assured the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) of the company’s willingness to partner with them to drive industrial growth, create jobs, and enhance socio-economic development of the country.

    Adighije, who was speaking during the visit of a 20-member delegation from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kano Branch, to her office, expressed NDPHC’s readiness to support manufacturers within the ambit of regulations and infrastructural capacity.

    “We are committed to partnering with the manufacturing sector to drive industrial growth, create jobs, and enhance socio-economic development. Within the provisions of the Eligible Customer framework, we are ready to work with MAN Kano Branch to make this happen,” she said.

    She noted that the company’s recent improvement in plant availability has positioned NDPHC to ramp up supply and meet off-taker demands once regulatory approval is received, adding that the revival of key assets, including the Omotosho and Alaoji power plants, will further enhance generation capacity.

    The MAN delegation was led by the Managing Director of Dala Foods, Kano, Ali Madugu.

    Madugu appealed to the NDPHC boss to extend the company’s Eligible Customer Programme to the branch in a bid to address the severe power challenges crippling local manufacturing activities in the state.

    He emphasised the readiness of Branch  to partner with NDPHC for a sustainable power supply.

    “Our members have both the capacity and the willingness to procure power directly from NDPHC. Access to reliable electricity is critical for reviving industries and sustaining jobs in Kano State,” he stated.

    Recall that Adighije, had stated that the company plans to free and commercialise approximately 200 megawatts of its 2,000 megawatts of stranded electricity by the end of 2025.

    She had also bemoaned the “abysmally low uptake of electricity’ from the electricity market by the electricity distribution companies, saying this had significantly weighed down the company’s operations.

    New NDPHC boss Adighije vows to improve revenue earning

    The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) managing director, Jennifer Adighije, has vowed to optimize the assets of the firm to improve its revenue earning.

    Speaking at the handover ceremony in Abuja, she said her mandate was to execute and manage the national Integrated Pocanwer Plants (IPP) optimally.

    She said: “Anchored on three pillars, which are optimization of the performance of our assets to ensure that we can improve significantly our revenue earning potential for building significant financial capacity.”

     The new boss said her vision has already been well built around managing the power plants optimally.

    She also vowed that her vision will be tailored towards optimization, which is a mandate of the company.

    “The mandate of the NDPHC is crystal clear. Our mandate is to execute and manage our national IPP assets optimally. And so my vision will be built around optimization,” she said.

    The new managing director also pledged to optimize and drive the organization towards efficiency.

    Adighije said she will leverage on technology and human capital to propel positive change with external stakeholders.

    She identified human capital as the greatest asset of the company that will drive sustainable positive change.

    The Chief Executive Officer revealed that she was yearning to work with the diverse talents in the company to drive it to greater heights.

    She sought the support of the staff and management for alignment of NDPHC with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu for energy efficiency.

    Adighije said, “Myself and my team, we are eager to hit the ground running. I look forward to working with these beautiful talents.

    “As you can see they represent a unique diversity of backgrounds ready to deploy expertise and experience to properly this company to a greater height.

    “I, therefore, urge you all to give me all the support and give my team all the support that we need to ensure that we are able to align with Mr. President’s renewed hope agenda for accelerating our collective prosperity through energy efficiency.”

    In his remarks, the outgoing Managing Director, Mr Chiedu Ugbo said he was hanging with gratitude, nostalgia, and excitement.

    He said the moment marked the conclusion of a significant chapter in his life and attributed his success to the support he got from the staff and management team.

    Ugbo urged the team to support the new Managing Director even more than they did for him.

    He said: “To the Heads of Departments and the management team, I urge you to support Engr. Adighije and the new executive directors wholeheartedly.

    “Embrace her ideas, share your insights, and continue to foster the collaborative spirit that defines a successful organisation. Together, you will guide the team through the upcoming challenges and opportunities.

    “As I step away, I am excited to see how you will build upon the foundation we have laid. The future is bright, and I am confident that you will achieve great things together. Please know that I will always cherish the memories we have created and the relationships we have built.”
