  • APC holds peaceful LG congress in Jigawa

The All progressive Congress Local Government Congress was conducted peacefully in Jigawa State as the leaders adopted consensus candidate option.

Over 90 percent of the elected APC executives were elected through consensus across all the 27 local government area of the state.

However, there are some party members who expressed their dismay over the conduct of the congress, describing it as a stage-managed congress.

Visiting some of the local governments, our reporter reports that in places like Gwaram and Buji local government, the congress started late, attributing the delay to non-arrival of the state observers and congress material from headquarter.

It was observed that the congress witnessed large turnout of the delegates, as many of them are eager to ensure the serving executive secure the second term chance.

Most of the executive elected during the congress are the existing leaders, and according to some analyst it is a tactful plan to ensure the state governor Alhaji Badaru Abubakar has secured the party ticket to contest for second term in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
