    APC Chairman visits Benue flood victims

    Mr John Oyegun, National Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), on Thursday said that the party was packaging a relief programme for victims of the Benue floods.

    Oyegun, who visited some of the areas affected by the disaster, told Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camped at the International Market, Makurdi that the party would strive to cushion the effect on those affected.

    Represented by the National Deputy Chairman, South, Chief Segun Oni, Oyegun said that the party leadership was in Benue on a solidarity visit to sympathise with the state and the flood victims.

    “APC is packaging a relief programme that will not only alleviate the sufferings of flood victims, but benefit the entire Benue people.

    “The relief programme will be in batches; the first batch will arrive this week.

    “The disaster is unfortunate and should not be a reoccurring decimal because it happened few years ago; we must now begin to dredge River Benue and other rivers, to put an end to it.

    “We must also begin to make sure that we use the shore lands of these rivers as it is done in other parts of the world, for the public good,” he said.

    Oyegun said that what happened to the Benue people had affected the entire country, adding that the APC family was with them.

    Earlier, Gov. Samuel Ortom had commended the APC and the Presidency for their quick response to the flood disaster, adding that he had received relief materials from NEMA, Nasarawa State Government, donor agencies, wife of President Buhari, among others.

    He said that the flood and ecological challenges had affected 21 out of Benue’s 23 local governments, adding that some federal and state roads were equally washed out.

    The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun on Wednesday debunked the allegation that the APC imported thugs for the ongoing gubernatorial elections in Edo State.

    Oyegun, who spoke to journalists after voting at ward ll, unit ll, denied reports that the party gave bribe to Edo people to secure their votes during the governorship election.

    The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun has been accredited at ward ll, unit ll for voting at the ongoing gubernatorial elections in Edo.

    Oyegun who came out at about 10:45A.M said that was the best time to vote at his Polling Unit, adding that democracy has become widespread.

    He also observed that the election has been peaceful so far while commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as the security operatives.

    Oyegun back from leave,APC’s convention holds next week

    National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Monday resumed from a ten-day vacation with an assurance that the National Executive Council meeting of the party will hold as scheduled on Thursday March 24.
    The return of Chief Oyegun to his office put to rest speculations that he may have tactically vacated the seat of national chairman due to pressure on him by some leaders of the party to quit.
    Oyegun also said that the party may have to look outside the North Central zone to produce the National Publicity Secretary for the party, pointing out that the challenge faced by the party was getting somebody who can handle the position like the former National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed.
    There has been speculations in the media that Chief Oyegun may not return to his position as the National Chairman of the party even though he had told newsmen that he was proceeding on a vacation.
    Oyegun said: I am glad to be back. I told you I was going on a break because I needed it. I’ve had a good break, I’ve had a bit of rest and I’m back to the office”.
    On the scheduled meeting of the various organs of the party that has failed to hold for a long time now, Oyegun said “all the scheduled meetings of the party will run as planned, the caucus on the 21st, the BOT on the 22nd and NEC on the 24th. Everything will go as planned”.
    Speaking on the delay on appointing a National a Publicity Secretary for the party,Chief Oyegun said “I think arrangements have been completed to hold the necessary congresses to nominate the spokesperson. I think that should be done very shortly. In fact the issue is getting somebody that can be as close as possible to the outstanding performance of the present minister of information, Lai Mohammed.
    “I think that has been the issue. As a matter of fact if it means making adjustments somebody who is good is priority number one and you can make adjustments subsequently”

    Buhari will shock Boko Haram – Oyegun

    The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, on Tuesday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will surprise the, Boko Haram sect.

    According to him, the increase in Boko Haram’s attacks after Buhari’s inauguration was to test the President’s resolve against the group.

    He spoke with journalists after he led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to a meeting with the President at the Defence House, Abuja.

    He said: “Well he has spoken on security all through the campaign, the insurgents are trying to test his resolve and I have a feeling they will be in for surprises.”

    On the plan to relocate the military ‎to the northeast, he said: “There is nothing like lives, he was elected to protect Nigerian lives ‎and that is even his first priority.”

    Oyegun told journalists that he led his colleagues in the NWC to pay their respects to the President.

    He said: “We have not done so before‎ now because we wanted the event to move to the ultimate climax which is his installation as President and Commander –in- Chief and that has occurred.”

    Benue APC hails Odigie-Oyegun

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has congratulated the National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, on his election.

    Its Publicity Secretary, Ayem T. Atsem, said the emergence of the technocrat will put the party in a better stead to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    Ayem called on supporters to remain committed to the party.

    He warned them to be wary of the antics of the PDP, which are meant to destabilise the party.

    The party also lauded the leadership qualities of the State Chairman, Abba Yaro, noting that his leadership qualities would be used to the party’s advantage.
