  • Cultists on rampage in Benin, kill eight

The ongoing cult war between the Aye and Eiye confraternities has led to the killing of eight persons in different parts of Bénin City and environs within the past three days.

On Monday night, one undergraduate identified as John Terry was killed along Upper Uwa Street off M.M Way Bénin City.

Sources said he was engaged as polling agent to one of the political parties in the February 16th botched general elections.

Eyewitnesses said Terry was beaten to death with rods and sticks by his assailants.

A father of four identified as Africa was on Tuesday morning hacked to death at Aifuwa Junction after shots fired at him did not penetrate his body.

The corpse of Africa was dumped at the Central Hospital mortuary.

At Three House area at Upper Sokponba in Ikpoba-Okha local government area, traders and shop owners scampered for safety as suspected cultists robbed passers-by and shot into the air.

Two boys belonging to rival cult group were shot dead.

A pharmaceutical shop owner who pleaded anonymity said over 20 persons ran into his shop when the shooting started and they laid on the floor to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

He said traders around the area now close their shops from 7:30pm since on Sunday.

According to him, “I was inside my shop when I received a call that I should lock my shop and go home because the area was about to scatter. As I stood up to tell my boys to lock up, I saw people running into my store to take refuge.

“All of us were on the floor while shootings were on. We later heard many people were robbed while two boys were killed.”

Another witness said policemen later stormed the area and started arresting innocent persons.

On Sunday night, the Manager of the hotel owned by Osaze Odemwingie, Osato Okunkpolor, was killed by cultists who engaged in a shootout.

Edo Police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the Police has set up security measures to make sure the city is safe and well protected.

On critics of the “Operation Wabaizigan”, Nwabuzor said it was too early to condemn the security outfit.

A security source said the renewed killings since last Saturday are linked to the money released by political parties for the now postponed general elections.

  • Chelsea Memory: John Terry was a Motivational’Beast’-Mikel

Super Eagles Captain John Obi Mikel came very close to calling former England Captain and his Chelsea teammate John Terry a ‘progressive beast’ and winning mentality expert.

Mikel in a recent chat with the Sun, revealed how JT as he was fondly called left no one in doubt that he was indeed in charge of the Blues team and viewed winning as an achievement that should neither be compromised not treated with kid gloves.

Terry in the dressing room according to the Nigerian international who recently sealed a short term deal with English Championship side Middlesbrough, was ready to knock down everything and go to any length to send his message across and let every player know that going out on the pitch to win takes precedence over any other thing.

His approach he noted however endeared him to the team that was equally ready to follow his footsteps all the way, adding that the hunger among the players to succeed was an added advantage.

‘We were just so hungry. Did we take it a bit too far? Sometimes, yes, we had to,’

‘There were people fighting, grabbing round the neck, JT smashing the table and drinks. If we were losing a game you did not want to be in the dressing room.

‘The manager would speak and then leave it to JT to carry on. He smashes the whole place up and then we go back out and get the win

‘What he said, we followed. What he did, we followed. We looked at him for a reaction and we followed.

‘No matter what manager came in, you had to know the figurehead of the club was John Terry,” he recalled

Mikel who is hoping to contribute to Boro’s return to the English Premier League achieved most of laurels in his over a decade sojourn with Chelsea, lifting three FA Cups, the Europa and Champions League titles.

Boro who suffered a second relegation in 2016 are eager to return to the elite division with Manager Tony Pulis confident that contributions of the Nigerian will fire the club to its target. They currently sit in fifth place in the division on 50 points.

  • Terry opts out of Spartak Moscow £3million a year deal

Former Chelsea Captain John Terry has called off the proposed move to Russian club side Spartak Moscow.

Terry had flown by private jet to Rome on Friday for a medical with the club ahead of finalising personal terms on a tax-free deal, believed to be in the region of £3million a year.

With the move off, a statement from Terry read: ‘After considerable thought, I have decided to decline a contract offer from Spartak Moscow. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Spartak and wish them and their supporters well for the rest of the season.

‘They are an ambitious club and I have been very impressed with their professionalism.

‘But after assessing this move with my family, we’ve decided this is not the right move for ourselves at this time. Good luck Spartak.’

The 37-year-old has had numerous offers since leaving Aston Villa as a free-agent in the summer following their play-off final defeat to Fulham.

Terry has kept himself fit by training throughout the summer and admitted to Sportsmail that he was ‘still hungry to play if everything around it is right’.

‘I am in the best condition I have been in for the last eight to 10 years of my career,’ said Terry.

‘I’ve had a brilliant summer, the first time in 20 years I have been able to get away like that with my family during the school holidays.

‘I was away so much last year because I was fully committed to giving everything to Aston Villa, but now I am fully recharged.’

The Russian side targeted Terry to replace French defender Samuel Gigot who picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury last week and is out for the remainder of the season.

John Terry steps up recovery for Villa promotion push

John Terry admits he hates being injured, but the veteran Aston Villa defender looks to be taking a proactive outlook on his recovery by hitting the gym for a big Monday session.

The 36-year-old is expected to be out for the rest of the year after suffering a fracture to his fifth metatarsal during Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month.

But following a brief break in Dubai, Terry was back at work as he completed the latest stint in his rehabilitation, and shared an inspiring gym montage that wouldn’t look out of place in a Rocky film.

While still wearing his protective boot, Terry completed a series of bench presses and chin-ups before partaking in some leg strengthening exercises on the floor.

His caption read: ‘I hate being injured and can’t wait to be back.’

That would have been more than enough for your average gym bunny, but Terry is anything but. Not quite burnt out, the former Chelsea and England captain strapped on his snorkel and tightened his trunks before hitting the pool for some laps.

The video would have served as good viewing for Aston Villa fans, who will no doubt be looking forward to the return of Terry as their Premier League promotion push clings on under manager Steve Bruce.

Following a 2-1 win over QPR at the weekend, the Villans moved up to fifth in the table but they have a lot of ground to make up on Wolves and Sheffield United, who occupy first and second place and sit nine and seven points ahead respectively.

Terry was present for the game as his team-mates sealed a win and he posted a cheeky message on his Instagram afterwards, saying: ‘Walking away from Loftus Road with three points like always.’

John Terry  off to Dubai shuns injury worries

John Terry’s injury has not stopped him from enjoying the international break as he headed for Dubai on holiday.

The former Chelsea defender picked up a metatarsal injury during his club Aston Villa’s game against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, the final game before the break.

But he has managed to get himself away from the Midlands to Dubai while his club have time away from competitive action.

He posed on the beach with his crutches and showed off his cast in a series of photographs.

And while out in the middle east, it seems Terry is working on his mind while he is unable to exercise his body to the usual level.

He flashed the front cover of the James Kerr book Legacy: What the All Blacks Can Teach Us About the Business of Life while relaxing on the beach during his break.

It seems like an ideal read for Terry. The book covers 15 lessons from the New Zealand rugby side and how they apply to leadership, something the veteran defender has to consider as Villa captain.

Terry has already said he is desperate to return as soon as possible from his lay-off.

The 36-year-old has been an integral figure for Villa this campaign, playing every minute of their Championship matches until he was substituted off in the 20th minute on Saturday.

Manager Steve Bruce said after the game that he was hopeful Terry would be able to return within six weeks and not 12

Terry who made over 492 appearances for Chelsea scoring 41 goals in the bargain signed a one year contract with championship club Aston Villa on 3rd July this year, and was appointed captain of the team for the 2017-18 season

Burglars of John Terry’s house get 28 year jail term

A gang of burglars who deliberately targeted the mansion of former England captain John Terry after he posted pictures of his family skiing on Instagram have today been jailed for nearly 28 years.

The former Chelsea footballer and current Aston Villa captain was on a skiing holiday with his family when their £5million mansion was raided and ransacked in February.

Darren Eastaugh, 30, Joshua Sumer, 27, Roy Head, 28, and Oliver Hart, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit burglary between February 1 and March 27 this year.

The conspiracy involved seven burglaries across Surrey and Sussex earlier this year, with a total lost from all of them was £600,000.

Today all four were jailed for a total of 27 years and 11 months at Kingston Crown Court.

A fifth man, Kye Hardy-King, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of handling stolen goods when some of the stolen property was found at his home.

Former England captain John Terry and his wife Toni (left) shared a photograph of the pair on a skiing holiday (right) on Mr Terry’s Instagram page which led to the couple being burgled and losing nearly £400,000 worth of goods

They struck after the footballer, who now captains Championship side Aston Villa, posed for pictures on the slopes of the French Alps with his wife Toni, 35, boasting to his 3.4million followers that he was having a ‘great few days away skiing with the family’.

But while the couple happily shared photos and videos of their lavish holiday, they didn’t realise the posts had attracted the attention of a ruthless gang of prolific burglars.

The men broke into their £5million mansion in Oxshott, Surrey, and spent hours ransacking the property, swiping designer handbags worth £126,000 and rare signed first edition Harry Potter books valued at £18,000.

John Terry named Villa captain for 2017/18 season

John Terry has been appointed as the new captain of Aston Villa.

The 36-year-old former England and Chelsea skipper takes the armband from James Chester, and wore it for the first time on his Villa debut in Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Shrewsbury.

Terry joined the club earlier this month, signing a one-year deal with the Sky Bet Championship side as manager Steve Bruce sets his sights on mounting a promotion push for the 2017/18 season.

Appointed Chelsea skipper in 2004, he captained the Blues to back-to-back Premier League titles before adding three more during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Terry’s move to Villa Park, one of the most lucrative ever signed by a player in the Championship, could see him earn £4m if he can help secure a successful promotion campaign.

The club’s unveiling of the defender, via a mocked-up WhatsApp chat featuring owner Dr Tony Xia, included the phrase “Captain. Leader. VILLAN,” playing on Chelsea fans’ description of Terry as “Captain, Leader, Legend”.

  • Terry Dreams Chelsea Return as Manager

Terry Dreams Chelsea Return as Manager

Aston Villa new boy John Terry has set his sights on returning to Chelsea one day as manager and says former teammate Frank Lampard could join him.

The 36-year-old chose to join Villa in the Championship having ruled out a Premier League move following 22 years at Stamford Bridge, admitting playing against the Blues “just doesn’t sit right” with him.

Speaking about managing his former club Terry said: “That’s a goal. Me and Lamps (Frank Lampard) have had those conversations. Do you dream too big? I don’t think you can ever dream too big.

“I’ve always wanted to be the very best and if that’s in management, then Chelsea’s the one. That would be incredible but I realise as well you can’t go in somewhere like Chelsea as your first job.”

Terry, who made over 700 appearances and won 15 major honours with the Blues, signed a one-year deal with Villa on Monday after snubbing more lucrative offers to remain in the top flight.

Swansea and West Brom were keen to keep him in the uppermost division but the ex-England captain, whose capture was announced in a faux WhatsApp conversation by Villa, revealed he was uneasy about representing one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals so soon after bidding farewell.

“Playing against Chelsea just doesn’t sit right with me, to be honest,” he said. “Whether that’s different in a year’s time, I don’t know. The raw emotion of leaving the club after so long there…(playing against them) just didn’t sit right with me.

“I had a lot of big financial offers to play in the Premier League and still play at the top, but once I took that decision out of it – that I wasn’t playing in the Premier League – this was an easy one for me.

    John Terry Joins Aston Villa

Chelsea legend John Terry has joined Championship side Aston Villa after his glittering career at Stamford Bridge came to an end at the close of the 2016-17 season.

The move was confirmed by Villa owner and chairman Tony Xia on Monday.

The 36-year-old leaves Chelsea after 717 games, five Premier League titles and a European Cup triumph in 2012.

This is how Villa made the news official… (Warning: Will cause some very serious eye-rolling)

“It’s a club I have admired from afar for many years,” Terry told the BBC.

“There are fantastic facilities at Bodymoor Heath, Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there’s a good group of players here, with an experienced and successful manager in Steve Bruce.

“I can’t wait to get started now and look to help the squad achieve something special this season.”

Fabio Capello hits China for Jiangsu Suning job

Fabio Capello has arrived in China ahead of his latest assignment, with supporters of new club Jiangsu Suning waiting at the airport to greet the high-profile Italian manager with open arms.

Capello agreed to become the new boss of the Chinese Super League side on Sunday, joining former Premier League managers Luis Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas, Gus Poyet and Felix Magath in China.

The 70-year-old Italian, who managed the England national team for four years before resigning in 2012, was visibly delighted by his reception at Nanjing Lukou International Airport.

Capello landed ahead of his new adventure alongside his assistant Gianluca Zambrotta with the former Italy full-back draped in a the light blue and white scarf on arrival.

The former  Real Madrid, Roma, AC Milan and Juventus manager received a large bouquet of flowers and a scarf of his own from the jubilant Suning supporters that filled the airport.

Capello was also joined by former Italy international and Brescia manager Cristian Brocchi, who will now form part of his coaching staff as they bid to kick-start Jiangsu Suning’s season.

The club are currently third from bottom in the Chinese Super League after gaining just eight points from their first 12 games.

Capello follows in the footsteps of the likes of countrymen Marcello Lippi and Fabio Cannavaro by taking the reins at a Chinese club.

Lippi helped lead Guangzhou to the top of the Chinese game and is now in charge of the national team, which is struggling to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

England reached the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup under Capello before a heavy defeat by Germany, and the Italian resigned two years later after John Terry was stripped of the captaincy.
