    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jubril Yisa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality education and academic excellence as a cornerstone of sustainable development.

    Yisa made this known during the Welcome Back-to-School Programme and Award Presentation for best-performing pupils of the 2025 academic session, held at the Iba LCDA Multi-Purpose Hall.

    He described education as the foundation of personal development and national progress, stressing the need to provide equal learning opportunities for every child. He noted that the back-to-school initiative was designed to remove barriers to learning and encourage pupils to resume school fully prepared and motivated for the new academic session.

    As part of the programme, the council distributed school bags, uniforms, and writing materials to pupils across the LCDA.

    He said the gesture was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians while promoting regular school attendance and improved academic performance among pupils.

    The chairman also presented awards to pupils who distinguished themselves academically during the 2025 academic session. He described the award recipients as role models whose discipline, consistency, and dedication to learning deserved recognition. He urged other pupils to see the awards as motivation to work harder and strive for excellence.

    Yisa commended the teachers for their dedication and professionalism, noting that the achievements celebrated at the event were a reflection of their commitment to shaping young minds. He also appreciated parents and guardians for their continuous support and involvement in their children’s education.

    Addressing the pupils, the council boss encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined, and respectful, while making effective use of the educational materials provided. He emphasized that education remains the key to a better and more secure future.

    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area, Jubril Yisa, has presented N11,527,098,722.17 budget proposal  to the Legislative Arm.

    He described it as budget of infrastructural continuity.

    According to hi, the budget prioritises road rehabilitation and construction to improve connectivity within the communities.

    The council helmsman further stated that the budget was carefully prepared with prudence, accountability and transparency in mind and it aligns with available resources.

    Leader of the House, Mustapha Hassan hailed the council boss for all the developmental projects and provisions of welfare programs across the wards for the benefits of our people.

    He assured that the lawmakers will do everything possible to pass the budget within few weeks so as to give way for its implementation.

    Hassan assured all stakeholders that the legislative arm would scrutinise the budget proposal in the interest of the council.

    Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ojo Constituency 1, Olusegun Ege, appreciated the 5th Legislative Arm of Iba for their support towards the 6th Legislative.

    Iba seeks infrastructural continuity at budget retreat

    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jubril Yisa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained development with the unveiling of the Year 2026 budget, themed “Budget of Infrastructural Continuity.”

    Yisa made known during a Budget Retreat at Crown City Hotel & Suites, Agbara-Atan, Ogun State.

    Describing the retreat as a strategic engagement rather than a routine administrative exercise, the chairman noted that the 2026 budget is designed to consolidate and expand on existing infrastructural projects across the LCDA. He emphasized that development is a continuous process that requires consistency, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose.

    According to him, the administration has over the years made significant investments in key sectors such as road infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental management, and community development. The 2026 budget, he said, is focused on sustaining these gains rather than abandoning ongoing projects.

    In the education sector, he said there were plans to continue the renovation and expansion of public schools to create more conducive learning environments for pupils and teachers. He stressed that quality education remains central to securing a brighter future for the younger generation.

    The chairman assured residents of sustained upgrades to primary health centres, with special attention to maternal and child health services as well as community health outreach programmes. He noted that accessible and efficient healthcare is fundamental to building a productive and prosperous community.

    The chairman also highlighted roads and transportation as a major priority of the 2026 budget. He said the council would focus on completing ongoing road projects while initiating new ones where necessary, adding that the era of abandoned projects must remain a thing of the past.

    Iba sensitises stakeholders on indiscriminate dumping of refuse

    In a renewed effort to tackle the menace of indiscriminate refuse dumping, the Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jubril Yisa, has convened a stakeholders’ meeting to address the growing environmental challenge within the council area.

    The meeting, held at the council secretariat, brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, and environmental stakeholders to deliberate on practical solutions to the persistent dumping of refuse on roadsides, open spaces, and other unauthorised locations across Iba LCDA.

    Yisa expressed deep concern over the rampant disregard for environmental regulations, describing the act as unacceptable and detrimental to public health.

    He urged stakeholders to sensitise residents on the importance of proper waste disposal, warning that the council will no longer tolerate environmental infractions.

    “Government will not condone indiscriminate dumping of refuse in unauthorised places. We all have a role to play in maintaining a clean and healthy environment, and violators will henceforth face appropriate sanctions,” the chairman stated.

    Head of Environmental and Health Services of the LCDA,  Motorola Adeoye, emphasised that improper waste disposal remains one of the leading causes of blocked drainages, flooding, and the spread of communicable diseases in the area.

    She noted that the gathering was designed not only to raise awareness but also to engage stakeholders in finding sustainable strategies to ensure cleaner and healthier communities within Iba.

    The interactive session provided a platform for participants to share insights, propose workable solutions, and strengthen community collaboration in enforcing environmental sanitation laws.

    Present at the meeting were the Vice Chairman, Ayodele Samuel Thomas; Leader of the Sixth Legislative Chamber, Mustapha Hassan; other legislative members; the Council Manager, Olufemi Babalola; Baales, and several other dignitaries.

    The council reiterated its commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and urged residents to embrace responsible waste management practices for the overall well-being of the community.

    Iba begins building of Town Hall at Igbo-Elerin

    Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Jubril Yisa, has performed the groundbreaking for the construction of a Town Hall at Igbo-Elerin.

    Jubril, represented by Vice Chairman, Ayodele Samuel, described the project as historic, stressing that it would serve as a symbol of unity, progress, and shared vision for the people of Iba LCDA.

    He noted that the Town Hall had long been a dream of the community, which would now become a reality.

    According to him, the facility will serve as a hub for civic engagement, cultural expression, youth empowerment, and developmental dialogue.

    “It will be more than just a building; it will be the beating heart of our Local Council Development Area,” he said.

    The council boss emphasized that development does not happen by chance but through intentional planning, collaboration, and commitment.

    He lauded the contributions of traditional institutions, and community stakeholders, acknowledging their role in making the project possible.

    He added that the Town Hall would also serve as a legacy for elders and a platform for intergenerational dialogue.

    He said: “This is only the beginning. The responsibility of nurturing and protecting this dream rests on all of us. Together, let us ensure that this Town Hall becomes a space of peace, progress, and people-centered development.”

    He expressed optimism that the project would be completed successfully and stand as a testimony of unity and determination in the community.

    Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jubril Yisa, has emphasised the importance of investing in the future of the community—its children.

    He spoke during the Children’s Day celebration at the Iba LCDA Hall.

    Yisa said: “the future of Iba LCDA, the future of Lagos, and indeed the future of Nigeria, lies in the hands of the children we raise today.”

    Reflecting on the theme, “Children, Our Future, Our Responsibility,” Yisa reiterated that nurturing and empowering children are a shared responsibility that must transcend the boundaries of the home, school, and community.

    He underscored the need for deliberate policies that support the growth, education, and well-being of children in Iba LCDA.

    “We must ensure that our policies, homes, schools, and communities reflect this commitment to safeguarding their well-being and unlocking their full potential. Every decision we make today, every action we take as leaders, parents, educators, and members of society, directly shapes the kind of future our children will inherit,” he said.

    The council boss highlighted several initiatives his administration is pursuing to better the lives of children in the area. These initiatives include improvements in school infrastructure, ongoing teacher training, partnerships to provide scholarships, and skill acquisition programs for teenagers.

    He emphasised that the development of children extends beyond education, pointing to the critical need for safe neighborhoods, access to healthcare, clean water, and proper nutrition.

    “Education goes beyond the four walls of a classroom. Our children deserve to be raised in environments that support their growth and development in every possible way,” he added.

    Yisa also took time to acknowledge the roles of parents, teachers, and the wider community in shaping the lives of children.

    Addressing parents, he said, “You are the first teachers and the first examples our children see. Let us raise children who understand the values of honesty, kindness, hard work, and respect for others.”

    He expressed gratitude toward the community’s educators, recognizing their role in shaping futures.

    “Teachers, your work is the foundation on which futures are built. You deserve not just our respect, but our full support,” he stated.

    Yisa encouraged the young ones in attendance to dream big, while reminding them of their responsibilities, noting

    “You can be anything you choose to be—whether you want to become doctors, engineers, teachers, artists, scientists, leaders—even the future Chairman of Iba LCDA—know that your dreams are valid. But with dreams come responsibility. Study hard. Listen to your elders.

    “Be proud of your heritage. Be kind to one another.

     Work hard, and never give up—no matter the challenge.”

    He reminded the gathering that the true wealth of any community lies not in its physical structures but in its youth.

    “Let us build a legacy that future generations of Iba LCDA will look back on with pride,” he said.

    Every Iba child deserves good education, says Abila

    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area, Jubril Yisa, has said that every child in the council deserves access to quality education.

    Yisa, otherwise known as Abila, stated that his administration is proud to play a part in making that a reality.

    He made this known during the presentation of JAMB forms to beneficiaries.

    Yisa said: “Today marks a significant milestone in our efforts to empower and support the educational pursuits of our young people. We recognised the importance of education in shaping the future of our community, and we are committed to providing opportunities for all, regardless of their socio-economic background. The presentation of today’s JAMB forms is another series in educational supports which I promised our youths during the electioneering campaign. To the glory of God, I have fulfilled all these in the past years with presentation of JAMB forms and GCE forms coupled with Abila yearly Bursary Award to support our students who are facing one challenges or the other at their various institutions.”

    According to him, the JAMB forms represent more than just a registration process; they symbolize hope, opportunity, and a chance to unlock the full potential of the students.

    People’s welfare is my priority, says Abila

    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area, Jubril Yisa, has said that the welfare of the residents is his priority.

    He stated this during the distribution of palliatives.

    Yisa, otherwise called Abila, said the gesture would cushion the effects of hardship prevailing in the country as a result of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

    According to him, 1000 food packs were distributed.

    The palliatives, he said, included Cash Support Programme for Widows and Aged Women within the wards in the council.

     He assured them of a continuous exercise of Abila Food Bank. 

    He added that his administration will not stop in its efforts until hardship is phase out in his community.

    The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Jubril Yisa, has appealed to traders to make current realities reflect in prices of food items.

    He urged them not to inflate the prices beyond the reach of Nigerians in a bid to make outrageous profits.

    Yisa, popularly called Abila, said this during the distribution of 1000 packs of Governor Sanwoolu free food palliatives on Saturday at the Council Secretariat, Iba.

    He promised more of palliative programmes  for residents to relieve them from the hardship and pains as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

    Yisa, who distributed 1000 packs of food last Wednesday, said Saturday’s distribution is an additional one from  Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu.

    This, he said, was to support Federal Government and to complement what his administration has been doing for the people.

    He enjoined them to be calm, assuring that the Federal Government is working tirelessly towards revamping the economy.

    “We will all going to smile and enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.

    Chairman of Iba Local Government Development Area, Jubril Yisa, has inaugurated solar-powered borehole for the people of Okokomaiko.

    The gesture, he said, was executed to curb water scarcity in the community.

    Yisa, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Samuel Thomas, said it was important for them to execute the project, due to water scarcity in the community and that it was a form of response to the people’s yearning and also to bring relief to the residents.

    He urged the them to maintain the borehole to serve the purpose it was meant for.

    He promised members of the community more projects.
