Ozubulu church re-opens a week after gunmen attack

Normal church services were held at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra, a week after gunmen killed  worshipers during early morning service.

The church was sealed after Aug. 6 massacre which claimed 11 people and 18 others sustaining various degrees of injury.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who attended the church service, reports that there was an initial low turn-out of parishioners but the attendance later picked up.

NAN reports that the service was attended  by officials of the state government led by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu.

Also, present at the Mass was Aloysius Ikegwuonu, popularly called ‘Bishop” and one of the chieftains of the village, who was alleged to have been the target of the Aug 6 attack.

IIkegwuonu, who lost his father in the attack, refused to talk to newsmen, but one of his aides said his principal would talk at appropriate time.

Security operatives were seen in and around the church wielding arms.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Jude Onwuaso, the Parish Priest, encouraged parishioners not to be deterred by Aug 6 attack, adding that “God is still on the throne”.

Ownuaso said that the slain parishioners were at the right hand of the Almighty.

Some Parishioners told NAN that many of them were yet to overcome the shock of the invasion.

Mr Jude Okoye, a parishioner, said he forced himself to attend church service because of his deep religious understanding that a Christian believer must experience persecution to make to heaven.

NAN recalled that a delegation of the federal government led by Minister Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, visited the place on Saturday Aug.12 to condole with the state.

Psquare on war path with brother, Jude Okoye

Few years back when the Okoye’s got embroiled in an internal feud, many thought the issue was dead and buried. It appears they were wrong, as a fresh round of hostility ensued Tuesday.

While the initial ‘beef’ bordered on a purported split. This time, Peter, one of the twins, is claiming that he will no longer do business with their elder brother and manager, Jude.

Peter  noted that although he has issues with Jude, he remains loyal to his singing partner and twin brother, Paul.

He said via his Twitter handle: “I don’t have a problem with Paul but the management. My loyalty for Psquare and the fans still remains 100%. A manager is been employed by the artiste not the other way round. #truthBeTold,” he explained in a series of tweets.

The singer also issued a disclaimer stating that whoever does business with North Side Entertainment on behalf of Psquare does so at their own risk, stating that he had nursed the problem for four years and was fed up.

“Please, who so ever makes any transaction with North Side Entertainment or Jude Okoye on P-square’s behalf does so at their own risk. #warning. Family business can be a pain in the a$$,” he further tweeted.

Reacting to his younger brother’s rants, Jude Okoye, Wednesday morning, pleaded with fans to pray for Peter as, saying only God could rescue him.

Apparently irked by Jude’s comment, Peter replied; “You said I need prayers! Bro you need GOD!”

He also insists that Psquare is not breaking up, while justifying his decision to make it a social media affair.

“Some ask why on social media. Do I have a choice! Insisting you must remain Psquare’s manager? And that your decision is final? #Psquare4ever,” Peter wrote.

However, his team mate, Paul, has kept mum on the issue.

    Jude Okoye fixes wedding date

Four months after Paul Okoye, the one half of twin brothers’ group, P-Square, said ‘I do’ to his heartthrob, Anita, their elder brother and estranged manager, Jude Okoye, has announced his marriage plans to the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) Tourism 2012 queen, Ifeoma Umeokeke.

The couple is said to have picked July 17 for their traditional wedding scheduled to take place at the bride’s home town in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Already, Ifeoma is said to be pregnant and the church wedding will hold shortly after she has been delivered of her baby.

Engees, as Jude is popularly called had proposed to his fiancée on April 24, his birth date.

    Engees proposes to Ify Umeokeke

JUDE Okoye, who is the elder brother and manager of the singing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, otherwise known as P-Square, on Thursday, April 24, popped the big question to his girlfriend of few months, Ify Umeokeke. He made the proposal on his birthday, which made it even more romantic.

Popularly called Engees, he has been having a secret affair with Ify, who was the MBGN Tourism 2012.

Cynthia Morgan, an artiste signed under Jude’s Northside Entertainment record label, shared a photo of the bride-to-be with her ring, but didn’t reveal her face. According to reports, Ify has been expecting a ring on her finger as she feels she is ripe for marriage.

Before now, Paul had wedded his heartthrob, in a well-attended ceremony. This was followed by Peter, who also got married to his sweetheart, Lola Omotayo.

However, the trio have been enmeshed in one form of controversy or another, with the latest threatening to break up the group.

A large number of entertainers, last Sunday, gathered to celebrate their own, as Peter Okoye, the one-half of the popular P-Square group got married to his baby’s mama, Lola Omotayo. Jude Okoye, the celebrator’s elder brother, who is also manager of the P-Square group, and Paul, the other twin were, however, absent at the star-studded event.

Omotayo, who already has two kids for Okoye, was apparently overwhelmed as she exchanged marital vows with the singer at the Ark Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos.

The superlative wedding was witnessed by family and friends of the artiste, some of who included May D, Kate Henshaw, Funke Akindele, Toke Makinwa, Emmanuel Adebayo, Gbenga Adeyinka, Klint Da Drunk, Genevieve Nnaji, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Iyanya and a host of other celebrities.

For a day that could be described as her most cherished moment, the bride wore three outfits; two traditional attires and one shimmering green gown, looking fabulous in them.

One celebrity, who tweeted about his inability to fly into the country to attend the party was fellow artiste, D’banj said he wished he had a private jet. “God go do am”, he prayed. Jude and Paul were said to be having a studio session with another singer, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid.

The wedding, which is now the talk-of-the-town, earlier in the year, came under public scrutiny after Lola gave birth to their second child outside wedlock. She had rebuffed critics, saying she was never desperate or in a hurry to get married to the renowned singer. She claimed she would be content to remain as Okoye’s baby mama than to marry him without being able to support him financially. No sooner than the interview hit the internet than fans began to call her all sorts of unprintable names. Omotayo must have been demoralized by the negative comments that he beau went on Twitter to defend her, saying,” she accepted me when I had nothing. Now that I have achieved a lot, respect her for that. E no easy.” On another occasion he had said, “…Met this woman when I had nothing…she’s a blessing to me, so don’t talk like you know her because you don’t”.

Perhaps to put to rest the furore being generated by having children by Omotayo outside wedlock, Okoye, in August proposed to this mother of his kids.

Okoye, a music superstar, did not opt for a regular kind of proposal; he did it in superstar grand style with a brand new Range Rover Evoque, bouquet of flowers, a hand written sign and an absolutely stunning diamond ring.
