How my parents rejected me – Jumoke George

Actress Jumoke George has shared a heart-wrenching account of her childhood experiences, divorce, and parental rejection.

In an emotional interview with Biola Bayo on the “Talk to B” show, Jumoke revealed the traumatic events that shaped her life.

Jumoke recounted how her stepmother mistreated her, forcing her to visit a herbalist’s house from a young age.

According to her, she was made to prepare food with charms intended to control her father.

Jumoke described being treated like a slave, emphasising that her experiences were incredibly painful.

“My stepmother was even worse. From a tender age, I was sent to a herbalist’s house. It’s a pity and it saddens my heart that I am even the one that will prepare the food that the charm will be added to for my dad. You can’t even handle a slave the way they handled me. Today, I just put an end to that kind of job I am always sent”, she said.

She said when she finally confided in her father about her stepmother’s cruel actions, he didn’t believe her.

She said that he disowned her, leading to a period of homelessness and hardship.

Jumoke recalled squatting in various places, sleeping on tables, and even using safety pins to hold her clothes together.

“When I pleaded with him to allow me to talk, he said, ‘From henceforth, I disowned you,’ and he went into his room, and the next thing I saw is that he came out with his gun.

“It was from that moment I entered into a problem. The big mistake I made in my whole life was crying that I wanted to go with my dad when he got transferred”.

“I was sleeping around; I even slept on the table they used for selling goods by the roadside. If I see abandoned vehicle, I will sleep inside. Then, I used a safety pin to hold my bras. I used twine ropes to hold my pants”, she said.

Jumoke also opened up about her troubled relationship with her mother, which stemmed from her decision to stay with her father during his transfer.

She said her parents have since reconciled, while her mother apologised for her past actions.

“It wasn’t until four or five years ago that I knew what I did to offend my mother. But then, she pleaded with me that I should forgive her, that she didn’t have Christ, and it was a time of ignorance, and she was feeling hurt then.

Furthermore, Jumoke shared her experiences with domestic violence in her failed marriage.

She claimed that her ex-husband would frequently beat her, even in public, saying that the abuse escalated during her pregnancy.

“When pregnancy came in, my journey with him was like going from frying pan to fire; he will always beat me. It got to a stage; he would come and meet me at movie rehearsal to beat me so that we would both roll down from the upstairs”.

Jumoke described her marriage as a nightmare, saying she went from “frying pan to fire.”

  • Why I was blacklisted for 14 years – Actress Jumoke George

Why I was blacklisted for 14 years – Actress Jumoke George

Veteran actress Jumoke George has opened up on the reason that led to her 14-year hiatus from the film industry.

In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Jumoke revealed that she faced significant challenges, including discrimination and harassment, which forced her to take a break from acting.

She said her absence from the industry was largely due to the unfair treatment she received from film executives and directors.

According to her, she faced discrimination with her skin colour and also alleged how directors demand s3x-for-role from her.

She also recalled an incident where a director told her she was being blacklisted for refusing to sleep with them.

Jumoke explained: “My skin tone was not the only setback I encountered in this business. The other reason why I did not get any roles or see the back of a lens for 14 years is because I refused to sleep around. For my skin tone, they complained that I was too dark and I would tell them to add my lightning to the scene to make me look lighter,” she said.

“You cannot push me into something I do not want to do. I will glow with this skin till old age and do not forget, black does not crack.  I started having issues with getting roles when the executives wanted a relationship in exchange for it. The pressure was getting immense and it was more than 20 to 30 people.

“Another thing was that if you dated one of them, broke up, and went ahead to date someone else, they would discuss you among themselves. I said to myself that as long as God exists, I would not find myself in such a space. I had to do so to avoid becoming a pass-around among them.

“I did not get any acting roles for about three years, I did not understand what was happening. One day I was at Feminine Cafe at LTV 8, and I met one of our directors, I would not mention his name. I asked him what happened that he did not call me for roles, and he asked me ‘Jummy, you want to feature in movies?’.

“He then told me that their group of directors decided not to call me roles and I was like why? He said it was because I was refusing to sleep with them… he also asked me what was the benefit of my refusing their advances. I just started crying and he walked out. When I got home, I prayed to God to take control. “

Actress Jumoke George warns women against BBL surgery

Movie star Jumoke George has cautioned women against undergoing Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.

Her warning comes after a 36-year-old woman died during a butt enlargement procedure in Lagos, leading to the arrest of a medical doctor.

Jumoke questioned the motivations behind women seeking BBL, asking if they are dissatisfied with their natural bodies and essentially telling God that He made a mistake in creating them.

She emphasised that God’s creations are perfect and that seeking unnecessary surgical enhancements can lead to harmful consequences, including death.

In a video on Instagram, Jumoke said in part: “Women, what is the colour of our problem? Because if I say I understand I am lying. The scripture says every creature was made in the image of God the most high.

“You females looking at me whose image do you think you were created? Are you telling God that He does not know what He was doing? God is perfect. What then are we looking for? God has given some long life but they intentionally cut off their lives. Stay away from BBL”.
