Rangers urged to beat Kaduna United

Enugu Rangers’ General Manager, Paul Chibuzor Ozor has charged the players of the Flying Antelopes to go all out for an away win against Kaduna United in the premier league Week 38 tie billed for the Ahmadu

    Bello Stadium on Sunday.

The Enugu side are 10th on the log with 55 points from 37 games and they are to square up against the Crocodile Boys who have already been relegated to the lower league with 38 points from as many matches.

They are 18th on the log.

Rangers struggled at the beginning of the season and only started picking up at the latter part of the second stanza but Ozor in an interview with SportingLife disclosed that the players have been charged to forget about the turbulent season but should concentrate on winning the game against Kaduna United on Sunday.

He promised to surprise the players and the technical crew if they are to secure an away win in Kaduna which he hinted would ensure that the club finishes the season better than last season.

He pointed out some of the reasons for the Flying Antelopes inability to achieve their target but warned that the club’s strong end to the season would mean Rangers would be among the frontrunners next season.

“We have urged the players to go to Kaduna and ensure that they get maximum points and then come back to get the surprise from us. We are happy that our club has stayed very competitive towards the end of the season and that we are  not like some clubs that are always desperate to win cheap points not minding what it would take.

SL10 later spoke to another player who has also been with the team since last season and he confirmed that they have not been paid this season, that the salary they got was last season’s outstanding debt.

“It’s true we have not been paid since the season started, but we the old players from last season that were owed six months, we got paid for two and half months, and that was since March.”

THE League Management Committee has explained the reasons for the decision to hand out bans and fines to Kaduna United. In a statement signed by Salihu Abubakar, and made available to futaa.com, the LMC said that: “Kaduna United is responsible for the conduct of their fans as provided for under Rules 115:16 and is therefore fined N250, 000 as a first offender to serve as an appropriate deterrent to all others” Abubakar wrote.

The Club was also held liable for access of unauthorized persons to Match Officials and thereby exposing them to danger. The LMC ruled that Kaduna United failed to secure areas leading to the Dressing Rooms thereby allowing unauthorized persons access to match officials, who were then exposed to potential danger.

“For this; Kaduna United shall pay a fine of N100, 000 and undertake to conduct a Supporters’ Enlightenment seminar to which leaders of their Supporters Club must be invited to before their next Home game. “This seminar must be observed and approved by the LMC. • Babayaro survives, now sole administrator

SportingLife can exclusively report that the management board of the Glo Premier League campaigners, Kaduna United has been dissolved by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Usman Zubairu.

According to leaks gathered from sources in the team’s camp, the dissolution of the board did not affect the seat of the club chairman, Hon. Sabo Babayaro, who according to reports, will now operate as a sole administrator pending the appointment of a new board which will be done in earnest as names are already been nominated to fill the vacant seats.

It was learnt that members of the board were issued letters of disengagement on Monday evening to confirm the end of their services.

The dissolved board has been in existence for a year and was inaugurated by ex commissioner for sports, Nazifi Jibrin, but with almost the same name and faces from the board of two years ago, according to sources, the new board will have new names and faces, with people of sporting integrity and background.

This is the second major change effected by the commissioner who has promised a total overhaul of the team after appointing Ex-International, Garba Lawal, as Team Manager.

The commissioner has also made plans to see that players are paid all allowances owed them from last season till date, beside his plan proposal of an official car for the head coach and the chairman.

The club will also for the first time have a club house and the commissioners ‘plans are at advanced stages, with a bank soon to see to it that players salaries, allowances and grants are paid as and at when due.

The commissioner’s decision to allow Babayaro to continue running the club may not be unconnected with his leadership quality and experience in sports.

Under Babayaro’s leadership, the club broke 38 years trophyless run by winning the Federations Cup in 2010, the feat that earned the team a CAF Confederation Cup slot.

Babayaro guided Kaduna United to the semi final of the CAF Confederations Cup in its first appearance in the competition.

In his earlier interview, Babayaro heaped praises on the visionary leadership of the new commissioner for Youth and Sport on his plans for the club.

“Already he (Hon. Usman Zubairu) has started to source for funds to pay the players their outstanding debts even before the state Government account is re opened for the year, aside that, there is a proposed increase in their travelling allowances, the introduction of a club house, a new camp and an official car for myself and the chief coach,” the vice-chairman of League Management Company said.

Babayaro who doubles as the vice-chairman of the NPFL said Kaduna United is now set to consolidate on their 10th place finish in the just concluded league next season as a way of appreciation to the Mukhtar Ramallan Yero lead adminstration.

Dolphins rue loss to Kaduna United

DOLPHINS FC Chief Coach, Abubakar Hassan says the lone goal defeat against Kaduna Utd was hard for him to bear as they came close to recording a third draw on the road.

Ali Adamu’s goal from a set-piece near Dolphins box in the closing quarter of the game denied the Stanley Eguma team a point for their hard work with the rains pouring down heavily in the course of the game.

“We were close to sharing spoils against Kaduna United but a call I felt could have been direct free-kick turned out to be an indirect, and the Crocodiles’ Adamu scored the only goal from there.

“By and large, the result does not reflect the hard work we put in the match.

“We now must go and prepare for the game against Kwara United. So we must put in our best to see we take the maximum 3points at stake.”

Recall the first leg meeting in Ilorin ended in a draw.
