    Slow people might not find me funny – Kamo State

    Skit maker and content creator Kamo State has opened up about his role models in the entertainment industry.

    He revealed this on the “Curiosity Made Me Ask” podcast, revealing that his role models include Odunlade Adekola and Funke Akindele for acting, and Woli Agba for content creation.

    “From acting, I’d say Odunlade Adekola and Funke Akindele. When it comes to content creation, I’d say Woli Agba”, he said.

    Kamo State also shared his perspective on humour, stating that not everyone may find him funny, and according to him, it is okay.

    “You don’t have to be loved by everybody. Slow people might not find me funny, and it’s okay”, he said.

    In a personal revelation, he spoke about the naming of his daughter, Olufunke.

     According to him, it was his mother who chose the name, saying, “When it was my mum’s turn, she chose Olufunke. The name was not from me.”

    Popular actor and content creator, Kamo State, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to veteran comedian AY Makun for allowing him to work alongside him.

    Kamo State shared his excitement in an Instagram post, where he uploaded a video of himself with AY during the skit shoot. Describing the moment as a lifelong dream fulfilled, he thanked the comedian for what he called “the gift of access.”

    “It’s a dream come true shooting a skit with UNCLE AY. Thank you for the gift of access, Sir @aycomedian,” he wrote.

    In a show of humility, AY responded in the comment section, saying, “Thank you for the opportunity,” highlighting the mutual respect and admiration between both entertainers.

    How financial constraints stopped my dream of becoming lawyer, by Kamo State

    Skit maker and actor Kamo State has opened up about his early aspirations, revealing that he initially wanted to become a lawyer. 

    He, however, said that financial challenges and his mother’s concerns about funding his education forced him to reconsider his career path.

    Instead, he turned to performing arts, a decision that allowed him to channel his creativity into content creation.

    Kamo State began producing content as early as 2012, but his breakthrough came in 2019 and 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, when his skits gained widespread attention.

    In an interview with Tobi Makinde, he said: “I really love your content for one year. Me, I’ve been doing content since 2012, yes. Man, 2012, I was seven in 2012. I’ve been creating content since 2012, but I can say my major break out happened in 2019. You guys 2020 during lockdown. Yeah, absolutely. So, basically, I wanted to be a lawyer. Yes. Yes.

    “Guys, did you hear that? Guys, did you hear that? Yes, yes, but… Let me know, let me see. Kamau States wanted to be a lawyer. Is that headline? Thank you, you know the vibe. So, tell us about that. Actually, I was raised by a single mom, you know. Raising me with my siblings and my big sister.

    “My siblings, generally, is so high for my mom. I got into, I got admission at the same time as my sister. It was a very difficult thing for my mom. The single mother, like, send us to school and all of that. So, I had to wait for my sister to go first. Wow, wow. And I rewrote, I wrote Jambe Day, second year. They gave me a lot. My mom called me and said, Kama, then it was like that. Thank you. Are you sure you want to do this? Who’s going to sponsor you? How do you want to do it? Wow. But I mean, I had to, like, rethink that.

    “Okay, what if I pass the money, I’m not going to do it, okay?Do you get it? So, I had to, like… Actually, I studied performing arts. Okay. Do you get it? What school? Wait, you’re about to know what I mean. Ah, oh, shit. Yes, now”.
