Nigerian, Turkish firm sign partnership for healthcare services

Two medical services providers, KASI Healthcare and Memorial Hospital Turkey, have signed a strategic partnership to improve healthcare delivery in the country through cutting-edge technology and advanced medical techniques.

The partnership is coming on the heels of reports that Nigerians spend about $1 billion yearly on medical treatment abroad for conditions that could be effectively treated within the country.

The two firms said the partnership would introduce innovative surgical techniques and state-of-the-art medical equipment designed to improve patient outcomes and the overall quality of care available for Nigerians.

Addressing reporters yesterday at the Lagos Airport to unveil the partnership, the Country Administrator of Memorial Hospital Group of Turkey, Dr. Zainab Bashir, said the collaboration with KASI Healthcare would ensure advanced medical services delivery between both institutions to elevate the standard of care for Nigerian patients.

Dr. Bashir said highlights of the partnership include the provision of free second opinion and specialised medical check-ups for Nigerian patients.

Such offers, she said, would give patients access to thorough medical evaluations and alternative care options in one of Turkey’s most prestigious healthcare facilities by ensuring they get the best treatment.

Under the partnership, KASI Healthcare Aeromedical Unit will provide an air ambulance and medical escort as well as ground handling from its clinic at the international wing of the Lagos Airport.

The clinic, Dr. Bashir said, would also host the monthly visits by specialists from Memorial Hospital in offering second opinions and training courses for Nigerian providers.

Commenting on the partnership, KASI Healthcare’s Medical Director, Dr. Adedayo Osholowu, said: “We are excited to partner Memorial Hospital Turkey in our shared mission to improve healthcare services in Nigeria.”

To raise public awareness and foster engagement, he said a campaign would be unveiled to include collaboration with Doctors Nigeria TV show with a focus on orthopaedic care and promotion of second opinion services and referral management.
