  • Six killed in Katsina auto crash

    The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said six persons were killed in a motor accident on Katsina-Kano road on Saturday.

    The Sector Commander of FRSC in the state, Alhaji Abdu Bagadawa, said the accident occurred at Morawa village in Batagarawa local government area of Katsina State.

    He said the incident involved a bus with registration number BDG 730 XT, with 19 passengers on board and a motorcycle with registration number MTZ 143 QA.

    According to Bagadawa, the accident was caused by the motorcyclist who rode on a wrong lane.

    He said the bus crushed the motorcyclist to death and skidded off the road, killing five occupants on the spot.

    He said the corpses of the victims had been deposited at Katsina General Hospital, where 15 persons injured in the incident were rushed to for medical attention.

    Bagadawa warned road users, particularly motorcycle riders to desist from driving on a wrong lane on the highway.

    He also urged them to always abide by traffic regulations to reduce road crashes.

  • 13 killed in Katsina auto crash

    The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Tuesday confirmed that 13 persons died in a ghastly motor accident on Malumfashi-Dabai Road in Kafur local government area of Katsina State.

    The FRSC Sector Commander, Alhaji Abdu Bagadawa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident occurred at Unguwar-Iliya village on Tuesday morning.

    He said the accident involved a Volkswagen wagon, with registration number KAF 608 XA carrying 18 passengers and a trailer belonging to Dangote, registered TRN 130 XA, parked by the roadside.

    Bagadawa said the Volkswagen had a tyre burst, which caused it to skid off the road and hit the parked trailer.

    He told NAN that 13 persons died instantly, while five others sustained injuries.

    The FRSC official  said the dead and injured victims were later taken to Malumfashi General Hospital in the area.

     

  • Three killed in Katsina auto crash

    Three people were reported dead and 14 others injured in a motor accident along Mashi-Katsina Road on Friday.

    Eyewitnesses told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Mashi that the accident involved three vehicles – two golf cars heading to Katsina and a Sharon bus travelling to Daura.

    One of the eyewitnesses, Suleiman Mashi, said the accident occurred at 2:30pm at a village near Mashi town.

    He said one of the Golf cars heading to Katsina overtook the other and that led to a head-on collision with the oncoming Sharon bus.

  • Five die in Katsina auto crash

    Katsina State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of five persons in a motor accident during the Ed-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

    Three people were also injured in the crash.

    The state FRSC sector commander, Alhaji Habu Dauda, who confirmed this to journalist in Katsina, said the accident occurred on Friday at about 4.30 pm on Katsina-Dutsinma road.

    He said the incident happened in Batagarawa local government area when two Peugeot cars model 406 and 307 with registration numbers EW 527 ABC and FL 121 RET, respectively, collided.

    Following the incident he said, five persons: three men and two women, died instantly while three others were injured.

    He said the FRSC rescue team which arrived at the scene few minutes after the accident took the injured persons to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina for treatment.

    He also said the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FMC mortuary.

    Dauda said the accident was caused by dangerous over-taking.

    The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that four of the deceased persons were from the same family.
