The acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Kayode Oladele, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving large-scale recruitments into the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army as part of renewed efforts to address the nation’s security challenges.

Oladele described the President’s directive as “a bold and strategic step consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on strengthening national security, enhancing public safety, and restoring citizens’ confidence in government institutions”.

The FCC boss noted that the increase in recruitment across the security services would improve manpower capacity, expand rapid-response capabilities, and ensure that security agencies are adequately positioned to confront contemporary threats, ranging from terrorism and banditry to kidnapping and violent crimes.

He emphasised that with the recruitment process taking off, strict compliance with the federal character principle must be adhered to.

Oladele urged all agencies involved in the exercise to ensure “equitable, inclusive, and merit-driven representation of all states, local governments, and geopolitical zones, in line with constitutional provisions”.

He added: “Security is a collective national obligation, and inclusivity enhances cohesion, trust, and patriotism. Implementing the President’s directive must therefore reflect the diversity of our federation while maintaining high standards and professionalism.”

The FCC boss reiterated the commission’s readiness to work closely with the security agencies to monitor the process and ensure fairness, transparency, and broad-based participation.

He also praised the President for demonstrating decisive leadership in tackling insecurity, expressing confidence that the new recruitment initiative would help to reinforce security architecture nationwide and contribute to long-term stabilisation efforts.
