    PLWDs get walk aid

    Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation for People Living with Disabilities has distributed walking canes and other mobility aid to beneficiaries in Lagos, as part of its outreach programme.

    The event, which coincided Eid-el-Maloud, was aimed at easing the burden of persons living with disabilities, ‘’who face challenges accessing essential aids due to rising costs.’’

    Convener, Kehinde Oshilaja, decried the rising prices of disability equipment and called on government to in with subsidise or support policies to make such items affordable.

    Guests described the initiative as timely and impactful.

    Chief Imam of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Lagos Mainland, Abolanle Tajudeen, said the gesture is a divine injunction to aid the vulnerable.

    Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Irorun, Ebute Meta, Lagos, Gbenga Adelusi, urged others to emulate the foundation.

    The body thanked its patrons for their continuous support.

    Oshilaja lauded the society and others for their encouragement and partnership.

    Foundation honours philanthropist

    Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation has paid tribute to philanthropist, Orisanla Oseremagbo, celebrating his generosity and commitment to uplift community.

    In a statement by Coordinator, Kehinde Oshilaja, it hailed Oseremagbo, and called for preservation of the Yoruba culture.

    The foundation decried politicisation of the selection of rulers, saying government’s interference in matters decided by Ifa Oracle could erode cultural authenticity and destabilise communities.

    “This trend has caused conflicts in Yoruba towns. Politically-appointed kings may be ignorant of the dos and don’ts of the land, and this ignorance threatens integrity of our heritage,” he said.

    It appealed to monarchs to prioritise welfare of people living with disabilities, noting that true leadership must combine cultural fidelity with compassion for the vulnerable.

    The foundation urged governments to respect traditional hierarchies, warning that meddling in the appointment of monarchs could spark tension.

    Foundation to governors: prioritise welfare

    Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to supporting people living with disabilities, has  urged governors to prioritise their welfare.

    The Coordinator, Comrade Kehinde Oshilaja, speaking at the weekend at an event to celebrate Easter tagged: “Jesus Legacy”, held at the foundation’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, used the occasion to appeal to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other Southwest governors to prioritise the welfare of people living with disabilities.

      He hailed Sanwo-Olu’s efforts so far, but stressed the need for more support, particularly by providing affordable houses for people living with disabilities.

    Oshilaja expressed concern about the alleged presence of Boko Haram insurgents in Lagos and other Southwest states.

     He urged leaders to be vigilant and take measures to ensure the safety of citizens.

    The coordinator encouraged members of the foundation to hold onto hope and love one another, citing the teachings of Jesus Christ as an example of kindness and compassion.

     He said the foundation’s efforts to support people living with disabilities had attracted the attention of Lagosians and appreciation from communities.

    ‘’The foundation’s work serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity and support for all members of the society,’’ Oshilaja added.

    300 benefit from foundation’s gift

    Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation has organised its annual Christmas celebration for People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) in Lagos State.

    The event brought together over 300 PLWDs, who were treated to a day of fun, food and gift-giving.

    Convener and Coordinator, Kehinde Oshilaja, said the event was made possible through support of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and other individuals, as well as churches.

    He said: “This year’s theme, ‘For the Betterment of Nigeria’, reflects our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of PLWDs and promoting a more inclusive society.”

    The event featured sermon by Archbishop of Lagos, Rev. Olawale Martins, who lauded the foundation’s compassion and kindness towards PLWDs.

    The cleric encouraged Nigerians to emulate the foundation’s philanthropic efforts and appealed to the government to provide more support for PLWDs.

    Oshilaja implored the Federal Government to reduce cost of petrol and provide other incentives to support PLWDs.

    He thanked the foundation’s partners, including Holy Cross Cathedral, Saint Dominic, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, and others, for their support.
