Ex-ADP governorship candidate, supporters join APC in Ekiti

Former governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2022 election in Ekiti State, Kemi Elebute-Halle, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Elebutte-Halle, an engineer; who joined the APC alongside thousands of her supporters across the 16 local governments, was received by Governor Biodun Oyebanji and APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.

Speaking after her defection yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Elebutte-Halle said she joined APC to add value to the Governor Oyebanji administration.

She promised to ensure peace and unity within the APC fold and work for the success of the party in all elections, by deploying her structures and networks across the state to work for the party.

Elebutte-Halle said: ‘’We are joining APC to add value to the governments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji. The two leaders are committed to the welfare of the masses and the development of this nation. I shall do all within my power and reach to make sure my positive impacts are felt.

“I advise my supporters to relate freely with APC members in the 177 wards. We are now one and indivisible entity and ready to contribute to the development and success of the party.”

Receiving the defectors, Oyebanji, represented by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, assured the defectors that their future and political careers were guaranteed in the party.

Oyebanji said nobody would be allowed to discriminate or deprive the defectors of their rights as members under his leadership.

He said the rank of APC had continued to swell, owing to populist governance and people-centric policies and programmes his government had initiated to give solace to the masses.

He congratulated Mrs Elebute- Halle and her supporters for joining APC, saying the party was unique from others in terms of inclusivity, welfare and dividends of democracy being given to members and the citizens at large.

Handing over the party’s flag to the defectors, Dr. Ganduje described the leader of the defectors as a heavyweight politician, who would add value to APC.

Ganduje, represented by the APC Acting Chairman in Ekiti State, Sola Elesin, said the defectors would be given opportunities to realise their ambitions in APC.

“We have no new members in APC. We are one and equal. You are welcome to our party on behalf of our National Working Committee, led by Dr Ganduje. APC is a party of progress and we shall go extra mile to bring people of substance like you into our fold.”
