    Bendel Insurance name Boboye new head coach

    ‎The management of Bendel Insurance Football Club has approved the appointment of Coach Kennedy Boboye as the Technical Manager of the club.

    ‎In a statement signed by Kehinde Osagiede who is the Director of Media and Communication, Bendel Insurance, he disclosed that the appointment follows a mutual agreement between the management of the Benin Arsenals and Coach Boboye for him to assume full responsibility for the club’s technical department with immediate effect.

    ‎After a thorough evaluation, the management found Coach Boboye suitable for the role and has offered him a substantive two-year contract. The decision is based on his proven track record, impressive credentials, and extensive experience in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

    ‎Arrangements have been concluded for the official unveiling of the Delta State-born tactician in Benin City, today (October 14).

    ‎The management of Bendel Insurance FC is optimistic that Coach Boboye’s appointment will usher in a new phase of improved performance and renewed confidence in the ongoing season.

    ‎Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, has expressed appreciation to Coach Baldwin Bazuaye, an Executive Director in the Commission, who stepped in as Interim Technical Manager following the suspension of Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba on Monday, October 6, 2025.

    Edo appoints Boboye as Bendel Insurance technical manager

    The management of Bendel Insurance Football Club has announced the appointment of Kennedy Boboye as the new Technical Manager of the team.

    This comes a week after the suspension of the team’s Head Coach, Greg Ikhenoba, over poor performance.

    In a statement issued by the club’s Director of Media and Communications, Kehinde Osagiede, Boboye is to assume full responsibility for the club’s technical department with immediate effect.

    “After a thorough evaluation, the management found Coach Boboye suitable for the role and has offered him a substantive two-year contract. The decision is based on his proven track record, impressive credentials, and extensive experience in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL),” the statement read.

    The club added that arrangements have been concluded for the official unveiling of the Delta-born tactician in Benin City on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

    The management expressed optimism that Boboye’s appointment would usher in a new era of improved performance and renewed confidence in the ongoing season.

    Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, commended Coach Baldwin Bazuaye for stepping in as Interim Technical Manager following Ikhenoba’s suspension.

    Akwa United rehire Boboye due to past records, says Bassey

    Akwa United Football Club has agreed a mid-season managerial contract with coach Kennedy Boboye.

    The Management of the Club signed the deal with coach Boboye at the Club’s office in Uyo yesterday  January 6, 2025 and the coach is expected to begin work later this week.

    Chairman of the club Elder Paul Bassey described  Boboye’s return to the team ‘as necessary’, adding that the decision to re-assign the coach was’ because of his track records and previous achievements with the club’.

    Bassey expressed optimism that the coach will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the team with a turnaround in the team’s fortunes in the second half of the season.

    Coach Boboye joined the Promise Keepers during the 2019-2020 NPFL season and won the league title with the club in the 2020-2021 season – his second league title as a coach after lifting the trophy with Plateau United in 2017.

    Boboye was in-charge of Akwa United as the team made its CAF Champions League debut in 2021 and after a run of poor results, he resigned from his position as head coach of the team in 2022.

    Following his departure from Akwa United, he had a brief stint with Heartland and Sunshine Stars before re-joining the Promise Keepers ahead of the second stanza of the 2024-2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
