I didn’t cause Plantashun Boiz dissolution – Kenny Ogungbe

Renowned music executive Kenny Ogungbe, CEO of Kennis Music, has addressed long-standing rumour about his alleged role in the breakup of former music group, Plantashun Boiz.

In a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Ogungbe clarified that he had no hand in the group’s dissolution.

According to Ogungbe, 2Face had already parted ways with the group when he approached Kennis Music for support.

He said: “People have been saying l’m the one responsible for the breakup of Plantashun Boiz.

“That’s not true. 2face came to me himself after the group had broken up that he wanted to sign with Kennis music and Eedris Abdulkareem told me to sign him which I did.”

Plantashun Boiz, comprising 2Face, Blackface, and Faze, initially disbanded in 2004 following the release of their sophomore album, “Sold Out.”

Although they briefly reunited in 2007 for a third album, “Plan B,” the group eventually went their separate ways again.

“There was a record that dissed me and the person who produced the record was OJB Jezreel,” he explained. “The record dissed me and the beat was fantastic. I went to Cool FM and Chris Obosi said this record dissed you and I looked at it and checked who produced it but they used a black object to cover the producer’s name, apparently he doesn’t want to be known for that project. I put the stuff to the light and I saw it, produced by OJB Jezreel.

“I got home, got his number and called him. I told him I had a new artist that I wanted him to work with and that was how we created African Queen.”
