  • Keys to divine direction!

Welcome to this new week of great things. I hope you were blessed by last week’s teaching. May God engrace us to access His plan for us this month! Today, we shall focus on Keys to Divine Direction! From scriptures, we understand that God is ready to guide our paths in life. It is written: And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them (Isaiah 42:16).

However, God does not just lead anybody on the earth. He leads only His sheep who are willing to be led (Isaiah 55:8).Therefore, there are certain conditions that must be met before we can be divinely directed; they are:

What then, are the keys to Divine Direction?

    • Be His Son: The first key is that we must be born again. We must be covenant children of God before He can lead us. As it is written: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). This implies that, for God to be committed to directing us, we must first be His children. (Romans 8:14). Thus, by accepting Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour, we have secured the ticket for divine direction.
    • Meekness: We need a meek spirit to be guided and directed by God. David said in Psalm 25:9: The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. This means meekness of heart must be in place before God can show us His ways; which are higher than ours. The Bible describes Moses as the meekest man in the earth; as a result, he had access to the ways of God (Numbers 12:3; see also Psalm 103:7). Thus, there cannot be meekness without the fear of the Lord (Psalm 25:12).
    • Faith: We need faith to be directed by God. Paul said: For we walk by faith, not by sight: (2 Corinthians 5:7). Divine direction is not for those that walk by sight but for those who will trust God to lead them aright. It is faith that makes a man seek God for divine direction (Hebrews 11:6).
    • Fellowship with the Holy Spirit: A continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit is another requirement that must be met if we desire divine direction. As it is written: But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things (1 John 2:20; see also John 16:13). The Holy Spirit is to show us the things to come but before He can do that, we must first have to know Him and enjoy communion with Him. We also have to be conscious of His indwelling presence in us because the Holy Spirit is a Person we can talk to, ask questions and seek His help.
    • Quietness: We need quietness to enjoy divine direction. Not just a quiet outer environment but much more a quiet spirit. Avoid a rowdy spirit for God is a Spirit and He communicates with our Spirit. The Bible says: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Since our fellowship with God is in the spirit, we need to create quietness around us so that we can have a sweet fellowship with the Father where He can instruct us in the way to go (Isaiah 30:15).
    • Walk in Love: This is a condition in which we live without malice, anger and being relaxed with others, by loving them unconditionally. We also need to embrace liberty of the spirit and one of its manifestations is walking in love. As it is written: Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). Our conscience must be free from all manner of entanglements; including disobedience which quenches the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19).
    • Be Open: We need openness of heart for divine direction. This connotes, we should not be set or rest in our own ways like concrete. We must be willing to adjust to God’s instructions; even if they contradict our actions. (Matthew 18:3-4). Therefore, we should keep a sensitive and tender heart before God as we allow Him direct our paths, because He knows everything better than us ((2 Chronicles 16:9;Proverbs 16:9).
    • Worship/Praise: If we must enjoy constant direction, then praise must become our lifestyle. As it is written: But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). Thus, His voice of direction will come clearly to us when we give Him the praises that His heart loves.

In conclusion, these keys will manifest in your life if you are born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus, for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

  • Engaging vital keys to operating in the supernatural! (2)

Last week, we began this teaching with the understanding that by redemption, every child of God is ordained to operate naturally in the supernatural. However, there are certain vital keys that guarantee our access to operating in the supernatural, and we examined one of them last week. This week, we shall explore two other vital keys, which include:

    • Be Committed to growing in power: We recognise from scriptures that spiritual empowerment is in levels. In an encounter with God, Prophet Ezekiel narrates: Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over (Ezekiel 47:1-5).

‘Water’ in the above scripture represents the Holy Spirit and its various levels of empowerment¯ankle level, knee level, loin’s level and levels that could not be passed over, which is where Jesus operated. The Bible says: For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him (John 3:34). However, it is important to understand that though empowerment is in levels, it is always at a cost. The cost of growing in power is prayer and fasting, which is a non-negotiable requirement and the purchasing power for empowerment. It is written: Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6; see also Matthew 25:8-9; 2 Corinthians 11:27).

It is impossible for anyone to walk in power consistently without subscribing to the demands of prayer and fasting. The Psalmist said: O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee (Psalms 63:1-3).  The “thirst of the soul” is the expression of our desires on the prayer altar and the “longing of the flesh” is the fast that it is coupled with.

However, it is important to understand that it is the combination of power and authority that gives us command over any issue of life. Jesus called His disciples and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases; yet, they could not cast out the devil out of a demon possessed man. When Jesus’ disciples asked Him why it was so, He replied: Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:19-20; see also Luke 4:36, 9:1).

As believers, we must understand that though faith confers us with authority, it must be coupled with power for delivery. Authority has no relevance without power. When the Apostles were empowered by the Holy Ghost, they prayed and great power manifested. We also understand from scriptures that when Jesus fasted, He returned in the power of the Spirit and the people saw the mighty power of God. That means our change of level in the school of power will lead to our change of level in our command of the supernatural (Luke 4:14, 9:43; Acts 1:8, 2:1-5, 4:30-33, 5:12, 15).

    • Be committed to giving towards Kingdom advancement endeavours: Our commitment to giving towards Kingdom advancement empowers us for supernatural prosperity. As it is written: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33; see also Haggai 1:5-13; Malachi 3:17-18).

‘God first’ does not only apply to soul-winning and follow-up of new converts, it also applies to our finances. Everyone who is genuinely committed to Kingdom promotions with his or her finances, naturally commands financial abundance and supernatural breakthroughs (Genesis 22:16-18).

It is important to understand that commitment to giving towards Kingdom advancement endeavours empowers the saints for supernatural prosperity. However, supernatural prosperity is an entrustment, not an achievement. That means God only entrusts it to those He can trust. Our capacity to promote God’s Kingdom determines the level of His wealth that He can entrust to us. Therefore, the bigger our hearts for God’s Kingdom, the greater our access to His resources. All we need is the giving grace, which can be accessed through prayers, because the altar of prayer is the altar of grace (Psalms 35:27; Haggai 2:3-9; Zechariah 1:17; Luke 16:11; 2 Corinthians 8:3, 7; Hebrews 4:16). As you engage these vital keys, I decree that you will begin to command dominion, naturally, over life’s situations and circumstances in Jesus’ name! Remain ever blessed!

Are you born again? This means, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? If you haven’t, you can do so as you say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!” For further reading, please get my books: Walking in the Miraculous, Operating in the Supernatural, Releasing the Supernatural, Commanding the Supernatural and All you need to have all your needs met.

  • Engaging vital keys to operating in the supernatural!

By redemption, every child of God is ordained to operate naturally in the supernatural. The Bible says: The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit (John 3:8).

However, until we engage the keys that unlock the supernatural, we cannot be in command of same. For instance, when we have the key to a door we desire to access, we have dominion over that door. Likewise, when we have the keys to walking in the supernatural, we operate in the supernatural, naturally.

What, then, are some of the vital keys to operating in the supernatural?

v           We must be committed to developing our faith: We are empowered to command the supernatural by faith. Jesus said: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).

We secure the hand of God that provokes the supernatural through faith. As it is written: Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? (Isaiah 53:1; see also 1 Kings 18:44-45).

We must understand that faith naturally puts us in command of the supernatural. This is why it is wisdom to commit to building our faith because it is our strength of faith that defines our level of command of the supernatural. Concerning the heroes of faith, the Bible records: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens (Hebrews 11:33-34; see also Daniel 6:23; John 14:12).

Thus, the stronger our faith, the higher our level of command. However, we do not wait for our faith to be built; rather, we must take personal responsibility to build it. Just like a sportsman must be committed to building his muscles if he must win continuously, we must be committed to building our faith in order to operate in the supernatural, naturally. For instance, building our physical muscles requires good nutrition and exercise; similarly, we must build our faith muscles by feeding strong on the Word, which is the principal source of faith. We must also feed on anointed books, which enlarge our understanding of the word of faith. Daniel said: …I Daniel understood by books…, and as a result, he was among the most gifted men in Bible history. Anointed faith books are boosters of faith because faith is a direct product of spiritual understanding of the truth (Daniel 9:2; Acts 8:30-35).

Remember the Bible says: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

The second ‘hearing’ in the above scripture connotes understanding, which simply means being able to see what God is saying. Every time we see the truth, faith rises and the brighter the truth, the stronger our faith; the stronger our faith, the higher our level of command of the supernatural.

Paul said: The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. No doubt, he became a most gifted apostle and he flowed in abundance of revelation. He came to a point that he could boldly say: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith (Philippians 1:21-25; see also 2 Corinthians 12:7; 2 Timothy 4:13).

That is, his dominion over death was demonstrated. Furthermore, he confidently declared: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).

This stemmed from his addiction to the Word, which built his faith because revelation is the mother of faith. We cannot be committed to the Word and not grow in revelation; and we cannot grow in revelation and not grow in faith. Moreover, we cannot grow in faith without growing in the command of the supernatural. It’s all a function of committing ourselves to the study of the Word and the practice of same and then, we start changing level from glory to glory. We must also understand that faith has unlimited capacity for growth and as we grow from one level of faith to another, we go from glory to glory. The Bible says: For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17).

It is also written: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18; see also John 11:40).

Therefore, it is time to take responsibility for building our faith to enhance our level of command of the supernatural. Remember, the level to which we develop our faith determines our level of command of the supernatural. Remain ever blessed!

Are you born again? This means, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? If you haven’t, you can do so as you say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. • Keys to sustainable wealth, by Inyang

Christians must position themselves to explore the various wealth creation opportunities around them, the Senior Pastor of Sure Word Assembly Lagos, Dr Dennis Inyang has stated.

He spoke at the Access to Wealth Creation Conference 2016 by the church in Lagos with the theme creating wealth in a depressed economy.

Inyang said the gospel of Jesus is holistic, stating the same grace that saves is the one that grants access to healing, wholeness, prosperity and long life.

He noted the way out of poverty or lack does not rest on the shoulders of government but individuals who understand the economy and are able to explore them effectively.

According to him: “It is sad that many youths come out of school without jobs; the economy is biting hard and worst still many youths do not have the required skills and creativity to explore the various potentials in the market which need urgent attention.”

He challenged youths to rise above the frustration in the system by strategically locating how they can earn satisfactory incomes.

Inyang added that the difference between prosperity and materialism is purpose because anything can be abused if there is no proper understanding of its purpose.

“If you acquire wealth to put it to good use, helping the poor and needy, creating jobs for the common good, making a difference in the society or your community, investing in the expansion of God’s kingdom and such other things, that is not materialism,” he explained.

On reason for the summit, he said: “It is the will of God that we prosper and because of that we want to equip the people with God’s way of creating wealth

“We want to encourage entrepreneurship and teach God’s people biblical principles for wealth creation. We teach good money skills and investment options.”

He pointed out the high rate of corruption in the system will be reduced if the church teaches people the best way to create wealth without stealing or compromising their faith and conviction.

In his lecture, the Chief Executive Officer of Business Incorporated SGS Inspection Services Nigeria Limited, Mr. Emeka challenged Nigerians to tap into the various opportunities in the exporting market.

“From available data in the world, only a few counties in the world can match Nigeria’s endowment in terms of natural resources. Nigeria cocoa has the best flavor in the world better than Ghana, Cameroon,” he stated.

  • Duplicate the keys to his heart

IT was a great reunion and it started on a bright note. Friends dressed to kill with makeup that had been replenished to make them look like angels. Food and drinks and then the usual girls’ talks. Lady A set the ball rolling about her man’s escapades and how she stopped the cross-carpeting after a good fight.

Lady B is not so lucky and she exploded: “For me, it hasn’t been that easy but I have made up my mind to pay him back with all the filthy emotional coins doled out.”Everything has actually gone upside down and her heart is hanging in the balance. “Last week, my spouse changed all the keys of the house and I was locked out.”

Luckily, the lover girl had the keys to the boys’ quarters in her clutch bag and that is where her heart, body and soul have been finding emotional solace. Lady C’s temperament just could not contain it all and she began to think of options out of the emotional woods. “Why don’t you break the door? I think it is better to duplicate the keys and get back into your comfort zone.”

Great ideas! Sadly, this is no longer a comfort zone and breaking in means that the emotional battlefield would get hotter. Okay, what about duplicating his emotional keys? That sounds better, but the timing obviously is wrong. How do you go about duplicating a key(s) that you cannot fathom where the originals are? Even if you do, you have to be sure that it is not a broken key. If it is lost in transit then you can go for the master key.

The key to a man’s heart is very important in any relationship. You either have it or do not have it. There are different types of keys and only the good key is functional, useful in unlocking a closed door as well as locking up to avoid the emotional intruder. The quality of your key would determine which doors you can open, take you to the nooks and crannies of a rusty heart as well as pave the way for heart that’s been sealed up.

Even when his emotional keys are in your custody, you must ensure that what you are holding on to is the genuine copy and not a key that cannot open any door (s).

If you must duplicate the emotional lock, then you must start early and be prepared. This master plan would produce the key to his brain (to modify how he thinks), the key to his legs (movement) , key to his stomach and taste bud (food), key to eyes (keep him from looking around) as well as the key to the bedroom. The key to the senses are vital in every relationship. For the ears, it must be something sonorous and something pleasant. Nagging must not be an option if you want to be in control. Like the musical keys, your emotions must be exciting and attractive. For emotional fortune, you must select tunes in the major key sound which is usually cheerful unlike those in minor key sounds that are gloomy. The patterns of the pitches in major keys mirror excitement, whereas the minor keys reflect the subdued speech.

So when you want to fall in love, look out for a fast, loud, jumpy rhythmic sound. This reflects the way an excited person behaves and you can be sure to be infected by this jolly good emotional fellow.

The fear of the emotional keys should be the beginning of wisdom for lovebirds.  Every woman must be in charge, be a perfect alternative for any intruder who wants to take over stylishly. You would be uppermost on this man’s emotional scale of preference and it won’t be so easy to push you out through the window or backdoor. If you fail to produce the right key (s) then you become a visitor, stranger or an unwanted guest in this romantic adventure.

Interestingly, there are times when you have all the keys and yet you just cannot cross the emotional Rubicon.  Here, stern-looking emotional guards, armed to the teeth, won’t let you cross over. If you dare put up a resistance, then you can be sure that they would throw you into the streets far away from your emotional door (wooden or steel), door hole and keys.

The guards are there to avoid a clash with the new ‘key holder’, the one who has captured your beholder with the computerised keys. Like a robot, the heart that once chanted , ‘yours sincerely’, the heart that could not sleep because of your smile , the heart that fell for your kisses , the one that swore to abide by the love vows would shift just by the touch of the emotional remote buttons.

But if you are dealing with a local champion, then the set of keys required would be quite different. A sophisticated set of keys won’t get you anywhere. As a matter of fact, it is going to stall the process. Here, all that is required is a kick starter and the antics required here is pulling the right wires together. But remember that this heart can pack up anytime and anywhere. It certainly won’t be a reliable heart and it would most likely disappoint when you least expect.

  • We operated with master keys and fake guns

THE Lagos State Police Command has smashed a suspected robbery gang made up of panel beaters, drivers, car dealers, native doctors, private security men, auto mechanics, landlords, fake pastors and businessmen without fixed business addresses.

Suspected members of the gang arrested by the police include Seyi Oyewale, Saheed Adebayo, Isa Adegbenro, Kayode Quadri, Afeez Ibrahim and Femi Ashiru. Others, including one Kazeem a.k.a. Naira and Alaba, were said to be at large.

Narrating his role in the series of robbery operations they allegedly carried out before their arrest, one of the suspects, Afeez Ibrahim a.k.a. Sharpman, a 35-year-old indigene of Odogbolu town, Ogun State, said: “I am a panel beater. I was doing well in my job before I met Femi Ashiru (one of the suspects in police net).

“I made so much money that I built a house of my own. I was contented with the money I made on a daily basis. I worked seven days in a week. The moment Femi came into my life, my character changed. I started lying to my customers. At times, I deliberately destroyed a part of a car and collected money from the owner to buy a tokunbo (fairly used) part to replace it.

“At times, some customers would give me their cars to work on but Femi would advise me to sell it. He later started supplying me cars and jeeps snatched by his gang to sell. I became a receiver of stolen vehicles.

“Unfortunately, the new business I found myself doing dragged me into a lot of police cases. This affected my job as a panel beater. Hence, I abandoned the job and sold my house and other belongings in order to survive. When life became too difficult for me, I joined the gang and started going to robbery operations with them.”

Asked how many vehicles he received from Femi before joining the gang, he said: “It was the devil who made me an armed robber and receiver of stolen cars. Somebody in our village made the charm against me to become a criminal. What happened to me was not ordinary. I was doing well but suddenly, I became a liar, cheating my customers. I became a receiver of stolen goods and eventually joined the gang.

“In fact, I joined two gangs. The vehicles I received included Toyota Camry, which I sold for N200,000, and Toyota Muscle, which I sold for N600,000. I also received a 4-Runner Jeep from Kazeem and resold it for N450,000. My gain here was N50,000. Kazeem, known also as Baba Ope or Naira, is still at large.

“I also sold a Toyota Highlander for N500,000 and gave the money to Kazeem, but till date, he did not give me a dime. He promised to give me the balance when I brought another car. I later brought a Hyundai and he gave me N30,000 only. I gave him a Rav4 which was sold for N350,000, but I was given only N20,000.

Asked how he was arrested, he said: “Femi was first arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command. He led them to my house and they saw me and arrested me.”

The second suspect, Seye Oyewale a.k.a. Sheyi Campus (27), who hails from Osogbo, Osun State, said: “I am happily married with a set of twins. I was a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) before I became an armed robber. But we don’t use real guns. We operated with fake guns and master keys.”

Explaining how he joined a robbery gang, he said: “I was called by one guy called Alaba to follow him to Ifako Ijaiye area (Lagos) to rob in November last year. We were three in number, namely myself, Isa Adegbenro from Ogun State and Alaba. I reside at No. 5, Adara Martin Street, Agbelekale area, Oke-Odo.

“When we reached Ifako at about 9 pm, we collected a Toyota Camry car parked by the road side. When the owner saw us and came to stop us, I used the fake gun to scare him away and zoomed off with his car. The man was forced out of the car and Isa drove it. We took the car to Afeez Ibrahim and he paid N150,000. I was given only N30,000 when the money was shared.

“The second operation occurred at Oko-Oba Road. We snatched a Toyota Muscle car. The owner left the key at the ignition and went to buy something nearby. We took it to Afeez and collected N400,000, but I was not given a dime for my efforts. Isa gave the whole N400,000 to Afeez.

“When I confronted Isa, he told me that Alaba collected my money for me. Alaba is still at large. Alaba is the gang leader and we operate at the Oko-Oba axis in Lagos.

“I was the one who sold a Samsung handset to Sunday for N3,000. He was our regular handset buyer and receiver, but he did not follow us to operations. We heard that he had been charged to court because he was using the handset he bought from me and SARS operatives tracked him down.”

The third suspect, Kayode Quadri (37), an indigene of Ilorin, Kwara State and resident of Oke Otaona, Ikorodu, said he was a driver at a secondary school in Otaona on a monthly salary of N25,000 before he joined the robbery gang.

He said: “I joined the robbery gang because my salary was too poor. How can I manage N25,000? If I were a commercial bus driver or trailer driver, I would be getting more than N50,000 every month. If you see the insult I receive from teachers as a school driver, you would pity me.

“When I joined the gang, my role was to drive them to points of operation and bring them back. I still go to school to drive, depending on the time we fixed our robbery operation.”

On how he joined the suspects, he said: “I know Saidi, Naira and Sharpman. We used to smoke Indian hemp at the same joint. One Sunday, I followed Sharpman and Naira to do one job (armed robbery) at Adama side, Ikorodu. I was their driver.

“After robbing some people we had met on the road, we saw one man in a Toyota Highlander and stopped him, dragged him out and zoomed off with his car. I was not paid a dime until I was arrested by operatives of SARS. That happened this January.

“We drove a Honda Civic car to the robbery scene and snatched the Highlander. Afeez was both the receiver and one of the strikers. I was not given a dime because they told me that the Highlander jeep had not been sold. I was told that they were going to snatch a vehicle before I joined them. So, I was not forced to become a part of the action.”

The fourth suspect, Isa Adegbenro a (27) from Abeokuta, Ogun State, who resides at 25, Musiliu Street, Agege, said he was an auto mechanic and driver. He said: “I am happily married with two children. I live in Oko Oba. SARS operatives arrested Seye and they used him to arrest me. I don’t know these people. They belong to another gang entirely. I belong to Alaba’s gang, though the police has not arrested Alaba. He is still our great gang leader.

“Other members of our gang are Seye and Isa. We are a three-man gang and we operate around the Oko-Oba axis. There was a time we snatched a Toyota Camry and sold it for N150,000 to Afeez. I got only N35,000. We also snatched an Orobo Toyota Camry, the one they call Toyota Muscle, and sold it for N400,000. I got N100,000.

“I had my workshop at Pleasure Bus stop area, very close to Ile-Epo market before the owners of the land demolished our workshop and built a residential building and shops there. When I was chased away from there, I had no alternative but to join this gang in order to survive.

“I vow that I will never operate with real gun because I had no intention of killing my victims. We used to use master keys and fake guns. Alaba is the gang leader and he does not use a gun. He uses master keys.”

The fifth suspect, 27-year-old Saidi Adebayo, who hails from Itamaga village, Ikorodu Lagos State, is married with a nine-month old baby. He said: “I am a plumber. I also dig borehole. I was on a playground in Itamaga area one evening when Kazeem came to meet me. He asked why I had decided to suffer like my father who did security work, because I was doing a security job at Mowonla.

“It was there that I knew Kazeem, Afeez and Quadri, a wonderful native doctor. They asked me to follow them to do one job. I asked them what job but they said they would tell me the next day. They only said it was a job that would give me quick and big money. The next day, he told me that the job was about collecting vehicles from people. I left in anger. He later called me on the phone but I refused to pick his call.

“He came later and asked why I refused to pick his calls and I told him that he said I should join them to collect people’s cars and I could not do such a thing as a security man who was well known in the area. The Police later arrested me and I told them that I had resigned from armed robbery but I could still lead them to those who were still doing the job.

“I met Kazeem, Alfa, Sharpman and Afeez about one and a half years ago. I had once followed them to snatch a car, but the car had an accident, which led to their arrest. They were charged to court and sent to Ikoyi Prison. I ran to Ugheli in Delta State and stayed with a tailor friend named Tony for some time. I came back when my wife gave birth to a baby boy. I resigned from armed robbery job and faced private security work at Mowanla land.

“So, tell them that I am innocent because I did not participate in this case. The Police declared me wanted when they charged my colleagues then. How can I be arrested because I was once an armed robber? I have repented. Let them release me.”

The sixth suspect, Femi Ashiru (36), said he was a car dealer with his stand, FM Motors, in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

He said: “I have an auto stand at Ikorodu. It is called FM Motors. I reside at Igbogbo Bayoku Road, Ikorodu.”

Asked how he got his supplies, he said: “I do go to Cotonou to buy vehicles and resell in Nigeria. My sister, Mrs Dupe Fakua, who is based in France, also sends cars to me to sell.”

On when he started patronising car snatchers and armed robbers, he said: “I met Sharpman, Afeez and Ibrahim through a guy called Wale Polo, who is in detention right now for selling and receiving stolen cars from Sharpman. I knew Sharpman as a panel beater also.

One day, he told me that a customer for whom he normally repaired cars used to bring cars for sale and they were very cheap. I told him that if it was the kind I liked, I would buy. He later brought one RAV4 jeep and I looked at the vehicle, tested it and found it okay. I paid him N450,000.

“There were documents in the vehicle. The particulars were pasted on the windscreen. The insurance and road worthiness papers were all originals while other documents were in photocopies. He promised to bring the original copies of those ones later.

“He also brought a 4Runner and I paid him N700,000, though it had no registration number or vehicle particulars. But he said it was not snatched. Another one he brought was a Toyota Camry car and I paid him N450,000. He later brought a Hyundai Santate jeep and I paid him N650,000.

“He also brought a Toyota Camry 2010 model and I paid him N950,000. Although that one had no particulars, he assured me that it was genuine. He later confessed to me that the Camry 2010 model was snatched. Therefore, when he brought a Highlander Jeep, I refused to buy it. I told him to take it away, but instead of taking it away, he went and parked it at my house and said he would remove it later. He covered it with tarpaulin.

“When policemen arrested me in my office, I told them on our way to the police station that there was one jeep that was parked in my house, which I had told them to come and take away but they refused, and I could not report them to the police because they are dangerous with guns.”

He said he later took the police to Sharpman, the supplier of the vehicles’ house and he was arrested in his house at Agufoye area, a new site in Ikorodu. He was the only member of the gang he claimed to know.

  • Keys to a lasting marriage (part 2)

    Dear Reader,

It’s my privilege again, this wonderful week, to bring you the Word of God concerning marriage. So far, we have discussed the concept and the keys to having a lasting marriage. This week, I shall be teaching on the hindrances to a lasting marriage.

There is war that rages within. This battle goes on everyday. Sometimes, one party gains the upper hand, and another time the other party sings a victory song. As long as we are in this temple of clay, the battle lines are drawn.

By the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary, we are without excuse. If we yield to the flesh, we shall reap corruption, death; but if we yield to the spirit, we shall reap life! It’s a matter of choice (Galatians 6:8).

Marriage does not automatically leave a man above the works of the flesh. Yielding to the flesh accounts for the heartache many born-again couples experience in their homes today.

    What are these works?

They are impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, spiritism…hatred, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own group (Galatians 5:19-20).

Let’s find out how a few vices can steal peace and joy from marriage, hinder a marriage from lasting, and how to combat them.

    •Slothfulness

Laziness is a work of the flesh. Good homes and marriages don’t just drop from heaven; they are made to happen! God had to first work for six days, creating the world before He rested (Genesis2.2). You must be ready to do what it takes, before you can enjoy rest, peace and honour in your marriage. If there is any indication of laziness in you, get rid of it now, because the fruit of laziness is shame, whether it is spiritual (laziness in studying the Word of God, prayer) or physical, doing house hold chores or caring for the family (Proverbs.10:5). Nobody loves a lazy person.

Slothfulness is a destroyer of families. Many know what to do to improve the state of their families, but they simply won’t do it or they do it for a while and give up. You must co-operate with God for your marriage to work.

Receive grace to be diligent, so you can enjoy your marriage, in Jesus’ name.

    Idolatry

God commanded man in Exodus 20:3 saying: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Nothing should come before your relationship with God, whether it is a car, jewelry, children, or even your spouse. Your love for God should not be replaced with a love for money, shoes or any other thing (Matthew 22:37).

There is another dimension to idolatry. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 15:23: For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. Stubbornness is equated with idolatry. This means that before God, stubbornness is a grievous sin as the worship of graven images!

What does it mean to be stubborn?

It means to be adamant, to be fixed in purpose or opinion, to refuse positive changes. God hates it!

Flee stubbornness! Be flexible with your spouse. Allow mercy and compassion, and God will not let you experience shame in your home.

    Anger

We all get angry at one time or the other, but the difference between this and the work of the flesh is sin. The Bible says that: Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath. (Ephesians 4:26) By holding to anger, you open the door to sin.

If you get upset about the way your spouse does certain things at certain times, rather than exploding and speaking cruel words which can cause irreparable damage, control your emotions and take a walk or pray, until you cool down.

Anger is a killer, and must be dealt with. It puts asunder faster than fornication. One may not kill physically, yet by angry words or even silence, you can kill a person’s spirit. It has the same consequences as murder. Learn to control it!

To be free from these hindrances in your marriage, you need to put God first in anything you do. He is the One Who can help you out, because He is the Founder and the Originator of marriage. To do this you need to accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Let Him into your heart, and then you will see changes in your marriage. If you are ready, please say this prayer with me, Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins.  Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Now I know I am born again!
