  • KOK says patronage of local goods will protect cottage industry

The need for Nigerians to support and patronise Made in Nigeria goods and services, thus empowering the nation’s cottage industries is the focus of the current episode of TV drama series, Professor Johnbull,  sponsored by National telecommunications company, Globacom.

Titled Made in Nigeria, the programme comes up on Sunday on DSTV Africa Magic Family and GOTV Channel 2 at 6.00 p.m., with a repeat broadcast on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. on the same TV channels.

The new episode highlights the importance of made-in-Nigeria products, positing that most goods in the Nigerian markets carrying foreign labels are in real fact produced in Nigeria.

  • KOK eulogises Peter Bunor

    KOK eulogises Peter Bunor

With the Nigerian movie industry still in shock over the demise of veteran actor Peter Bunor, a contemporary of the deceased, Kanayo O Kanayo (KOK), has extolled the virtues of the late artiste.

KOK, who spoke with The Nation, said they worked together on quite a number of movies in the mid-90s, describing the late Bunor as dedicated, honest, and a man who loved the acting job.

“I had not seen him for quite a while, but was told two years ago that he moved back to Delta. His son, Peter Bunor Jr., showed good potential, and is the only actor’s son toeing his father’s path. It is too early to say whether or not the Actors Guild of Nigeria has any plans for him, as his death was unexpected. The industry needs time to absorb the shock of his loss and talk with the family if they want AGN to be part of the burial,” the actor said.

On Friday, May 1, the nation’s entertainment industry was greeted with the shocking news of Bunor’s demise when his son, Bunor Jr took to his Facebook account to eulogise his late dad while announcing his death, referring to him as his father, friend, teacher and confidant.

Bunor Jr. joined the Nigerian movie industry when his father who introduced him to the trade noticed his acting skills. He had starred in several movies before going off the scene. So far, efforts to reach the AGN president, Ibinabo Fiberesima have proved abortive.
