President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in vanquishing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists still threatening lives in the North-East, following a weekend suicide attack in Konduga, Borno State.
Describing the incident as a cowardly act, the President said such attacks on soft targets are diversionary tactics by insurgents on the back foot, and must be met with intensified security operations to eliminate them completely.
President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the bombing and offered his condolences to the Government and people of Borno State.
He also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to swiftly provide support to survivors and affected families.
In a related development, President Tinubu also extended his sympathies to victims and families affected by Saturday morning’s explosion at a scrap metal factory in Kano State.
The incident reportedly killed five and injured ten others.
He underscored the importance of workplace safety and urged relevant government institutions to thoroughly investigate the cause of the explosion to prevent future occurrences.
“The safety of all Nigerians, whether in their communities or places of work, is a priority,” the President said.
