    Encomiums as Korode presents book

The General Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Surulere District in Lagos, Prophet Funsho Korode, was overwhelmed with a stream of encomiums as a biography on his professional and spiritual voyage was presented at the Eko FM Marquee, Agindingbi.

The book captioned Prophet Funsho Korode: The Glorious Narrative of A Quintessential Seraph drew the attention of former Ogun State Deputy Governor Segun Adesegun and the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesha, Oba Michael Ajayi among other dignitaries.

Adesegun, who was the special guest of honour, described Korode as one of the few whose service to God is not centred on pecuniary gains or obsession for a leadership office.

He observed that the life and content of Korode’s character epitomises godly values essential for enhancing the Cherubim and Seraphim frontiers.

‘’After the departure of the uncommon General leader, G. O. Fakeye, I said to myself that now we are going to see the real story about churches in Nigeria. Because there are some churches when their leaders depart, it is on the pages of newspapers like the primaries of we politicians. But surprising and smoothly a new leader emerged. I see you as what a prophet of God should be. You do all things not for the purpose of money making, not for foreign exchange or anyone to eulogise you but to honour your God and that is why I am so happy to be with you today. From what we have seen today, prophets prophesy for the sake of making money.” he said.

On his part, Oba Ajayi described his spiritual rise as one preordained by God to elevate the church to another dimension of anointing.

He emphasised the need for people to reflect on lives and times of remarkable leaders through study of their biographies, noting the harbour relevant lessons for future decisions.

He said: “The reason why young people should read biographies, memoirs and diaries is because they provide the most valuable lessons in life. Every life has a beginning, middle and an end and how one has lived one’s life should be of great interest to those who are still at the beginning. As Christians, aside from the spirituality of the Bible, the Bible remains our primary source of biographical stories. Who can forget the lives of Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, Paul, and the life of God on earth, Jesus Christ? Looking at someone, such as Baba Korode, you can say he is a man of God stepping into the shoes that God has anointed for him to take this ministry to another height which is what has happened today.”

The book’s foreword was written by the Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University,  Prof Folorunsho Dapo Asaju.

Reviewing the 10-chapter compendium  Prof Wole Atere, said the book captures the transition of the prophet from an Anglican Christian dynasty to Cherubim and Seraphim setting following a contact with Prophet G.O. Fakeye.

He added that both had a father son relationship, stating that: “He was born into a Christian Dynasty, who were forebears of true practice of Christianity and were prominently attached to the Christian Missionary Society in the olden days. He came from a background that is linked to Anglican Church. His Zaria’s experience brought him in contact with giants of Cherubim and Seraphim, such as Pa Gabriel Fakeye and Prophet Ayelusi whom he met through his brother. His primary days were an opportunity for training in leadership, seminars, choir ministrations and prophetic deals. As part of his tutelage SFK occupied some positions as elder, a member of the ecclesiastical council and Choir master for 40 years.”

  • Praising God drowns problems, negativities – Korode

The General Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church (Ayo Ni O) Surulere district headquarters, Prophet Sunday Korode, has declared that praise and worship songs drown the power of problems, vexations and all negative life’s experiences.

He stated this while answering questions from reporters at the 2017 Choir Day of the church.

The event also marked the 44th anniversary of the choir, The Seraph Voices, penultimate Saturday.

The theme of the choir Day was, ‘YESOBEB, He restores my soul’.

The event featured drama and music presentations from different choir groups in the church and other branches of Cherubim and Seraphim.

Korode said there was no better time to sing praises to God than now when Nigerians are going through difficulties and hardships.

Praising God, he said, will bury all their sadness and make life a lot more meaningful for them.

“I think there is no other time that is better than now to raise the praise song to high level to dwarf the sadness of our collective experience as stated in James 5:13 to the end.

“That is, if anybody happy let him sing and if they are sad let them get into prayers and if they are sick let the elders be called upon to pray for such persons.

“One of the greatest powers of praising the Lord and songs is that of healing the wound that you have either internally or externally in the soul and spirit.

“You find out that when the children of Israel were in captivity, that’s when the song by the rivers of Babylon, a very interesting song over the years, came.

“You find out that they were walking and weeping but they were still singing praises.

“And Psalm 42:6 says though I am bored and cowed at the level of the heart and soul, I will still praise him,” the General Leader said.

According to him: “When you listen to the lyrics in the songs, they tell of the healings that are for all sicknesses.

“They tell of the victory that goes over all wars. They tell of the joy that drowns all sadness.

“So there is no better time to sing the songs of praise. The walls of Jericho came down at the sound of the trumpet and the Halleluyah chorus of the people of Israel.

“So this is the right time to bring down the walls of Jericho in our lives,” he said.

Prophet Korode also called on the federal government to “log on to what is good and keep on doing what is right to correct the nation and bring it back to balance to ensure that we recover from recession and we get into progression.”

  • How to fight corruption better, by Korode

How to fight corruption better, by Korode

General Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Surulere district Lagos, Prophet Sunday Korode, has hailed the anti-corruption war of the current administration.

President Muhammadu Buhari, he said, has demonstrated enough courage and determination to rid the nation of corruption.

He, however, said the war can be fought better with prosecution of looters and deploying the loots to reviving the nation’s ailing economy.

Korode spoke last week during a courtesy visit with the leadership of the district to headquarters of Vintage Press Limited, publishers of The Nation newspapers, in Lagos.

He said there was no doubt that corruption was being fought by the current administration.

He, however, lamented Nigerians have not bought into the idea, leaving only the executive to fight graft.

According to him: “The current administration has fought corruption commendably. It has done well but not well enough.

“They need to move it a little bit strategically. It appears only the executive is fighting the war. Except the legislature and judiciary as well as Nigerians buy into it, we won’t do well.”

On how to fight the war better, he called for comprehensive completion of all cases of loots and corruption in courts.

“We must start prosecuting looters as soon as possible. That is the only thing that will discourage others.

“Also, there must be full disclosure of the actual recovered loots. They have started but must go deep to uproot corruption,” Korode stressed.

He said recovered loots must also be deployed immediately to cushion the effects of recession.

Korode called on the federal government to assemble economic eggheads to “move the nation from possibilities to realities.”

He assured that the church is disposed to engaging in rigorous advocacy and media evangelism targeted at “spiritually fumigating the nation’s Augean of negatives.”

The group, in a statement by its founder, Primate Ayoola Omonigbehin, challenged him to “defend the cause of the poor and the rights of the needy, which is church’s foundation.”

It described Korode’s elevation as well-deserved, urging him to work assiduously to take the church to the next level.
