  • I PLAN TO DO ‘COLLABO’ WITH MARY J BLIGE, KSB REVEALS

GOSPEL act, Kenny Saint Best, better known as KSB, has hinted that she planning to do more of international collaboration this year. Currently, she says, plans are on ground to collaborate with international act and Grammy award winner Mary J Blige.

“I am already working on it; we need to celebrate our industry. Frank Edwards did collaboration with popular gospel singer Don Moen that is a push for me,” the mother of two said.

She also commended hiphop star, Wizkid on his collaboration with Drake, which according to reports, is still the number one song on the UK chart.

On politics, the songstress revealed that one of the reasons she decided to join the race is to be able to use her status as a gospel singer to preach the gospel.

“Part of my passion for wanting to be in the government is to preach the gospel and also stand for the entertainment industry. Two of my proposals have been accepted, I won’t say more than that,” she added.

Speaking further, KSB said that she is also planning an award to celebrate women who have worked with the Lagos State Government over the past 50 years in a programme tagged Eko Heroin Award.

The gospel singer who has a single currently on air, Sugar, Sugar featuring MI, will also be releasing another single titled Heaven Smiles.

    KSB relishes status as Ambassador

KENNY Saint Best, a leading gospel artiste, has been made the ambassador of Children Living With Cancer Foundation, a non-governmental organisation based in Lagos.

She was presented to the media during the week.

Speaking, the amiable singer expressed her delight at being chosen as face of a group that genuinely caters for the needs of vulnerable members of the society.

“I feel very happy to be made the face this organisation because it is a big news to me that we have children living with cancer in the country. I was very sober when I learnt about it and was convinced that this is a foundation I would want to be identified with.  When the story of my life would be written, I would want this to be part of it.

“I am happy to be part of it because together we can restore the hope of our children, save those that have the chances of surviving, and help those that are now likely to survive to pass on without stress. It is a new day, a new assignment and calling for me. I am therefore using this opportunity to call on government at all levels, and kind-hearted Nigerians to support this noble organisation.”

Enumerating her plans for alleviating the suffering of victims of childhood cancer, she said: “We already set out to organise an inter school childhood cancer singing competition which will feature some established artistes and celebrities in the entertainment industry. The aim is to raise funds to support these children that are suffering from this dreaded disease. Aside from music, we would also be organising series of creative programmes to raise money for these kids.”

Speaking on the choice of KSB as face of the organisation, the Executive Director, Dr Nneka Nwobi said: “ We chose her because she naturally has a soft spot for the less privileged. Before we met her, several other artistes demanded for money to be our ambassador but she did not ask for a penny before accepting to be our ambassador. She heartily agreed to be the face of the organisation the very moment she heard the kind of people and project that we are into.

“So many artistes come to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to celebrate their birthdays with these kids just for the purpose of attracting attention to themselves but we have in KSB, a woman, a mother and a minister of God who is selflessly and genuinely concerned  helping to touch the lives of the kids.”

  • KSB plans three songs, videos for 2015

SHE might have lost out in the race for the Lagos State House of Assembly as an aspirant under the All Progressive Congress (APC); Kenny Saint Best (KSB) has not given up her quest for political power.

In a telephone interview with the single mother of two, she said: “Part of my New Year resolution is to be among the game players in politics. It is not a game for the faint-hearted. I am not going to quit because I failed to pick the ticket in my first attempt. In fact, the experience was good for me.

“As it is now, I want to be part of change. I am talking about political change, economic change and it is not music that will bring about that. I am ready to put my name, my personality, my voice, everything for the change that I desire. I can do anything to get political power to drive positive change because this nation needs change and I can’t sit and watch. The change we need in the country cannot be brought about by singing along; we have to play an active role that is the reason why I am doing this.”

Although her mind is made up for active politics, KSB is not about to let her love for music to suffer. “My music will definitely not suffer because I am going to keep feeding my fans with good music as I plan to release three songs and three videos in 2015. Apart from the songs and video which I will be releasing, I plan to collaborate with legendary King Sunny Ade and the enchanting Tiwas Savage,” she enthused.

Group endorses KSB for 2015 election

Gospel music artiste, Kenny St. Best (KSB) has received the support of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) for her political aspiration.

COSON announced on Wednesday that it is throwing its weight behind KSB, a frontline member of the royalty collecting society, who is vying for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Ikeja 1 Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chairman of COSON, Tony Okoroji, said during a press conference held in honour of KSB’s aspiration that although the society does not support any particular political party, COSON is fully supporting those candidates who, regardless of party, show that they are conscious of the desires and aspirations of the Nigerian creative community.

He said: “With the rebasing of the Nigerian economy, it has finally been acknowledged that entertainment is adding meaningfully to Nigeria’s GDP. What we have seen so far however is the tip of the iceberg. One of our key objectives is to make Lagos the entertainment capital of Africa with a bustling 24 hour a day economy with active nightclubs, restaurants, concert venues, carnivals, production centers, fashion shows, gaming establishments, etc. This will fuel a travel and tourism boom never seen in this region and create enormous jobs and wealth for our citizens.”

He noted that it is for this reason that, “COSON is fully supporting the candidacy of Desmond Eliot, 9ice, Tony Tetuila, Kate Henshaw, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Julius Agwu and others with entertainment backgrounds. They understand our aspirations for the Nigerian nation and speak our language. They will join the likes of Richard Mofe Damijo and Tony One Week who have served in political positions without blemish.”

Also speaking at the event, frontline actor and broadcaster, Mr. Patrick Doyle said, “we are supporting our colleagues in the industry irrespective of the political party they belong to. Today, we are here to publicly endorse our sister and colleague, Kenny St. Best popularly known as KSB, as she is set to contest the 2015 polls. I have personally known KSB for years and I can confidently tell you that she is a woman of great convictions. She is a woman who sees to the fulfillment of her words. What better character do we need in political offices than one whose words you can take to the bank?”

On her plans for her constituency, KSB said she will work tirelessly to ensure that the dream of Lagos State becoming the entertainment capital of Africa is realized, adding that she will also address issues concerning women, children, education and the less privileged.

Other artistes who sang praises of KSB at the event are female rapper, Weird MC, Fuji music sensation, Malaika and Kennis Music star, Joe El.
