Osun APC: PDP plans to rig

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to rig the June 21 and August 9 gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun states.

A statement by the party’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said the PDP plans to hack into the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC’s) data base to corrupt the voter register by eliminating their names from the register.

The APC alleged that the PDP in Osun was already deceiving unsuspecting voters to collect the PIN numbers of their voters’ card.

It said the PDP had accessed the telephone numbers of the voters and are pretending to be calling from INEC’s office in Osogbo that prospective voters should confirm their voters’ cards’ PIN numbers for security purpose.

The APC alerted the INEC of “the latest in the series of dastardly plots by the PDP to rig elections in both Ekiti and Osun states”.

The APC urged INEC to nip the plan in the bud.

In a swift reaction, Senator Iyiola Omisore, through his media aide, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said the APC should stop making allegations against him and the PDP. He said the party should rather discuss issues.

    Osun APC celebrates too early

IF things were normal, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State should indeed be in celebratory mood considering the odious election of Senator Iyiola Omisore as the governorship candidate of the PDP for the August governorship poll. According to the party’s publicity and media director, Kunle Oyatomi, the APC believes that given the widely held view that Senator Omisore is hated for his rough tactics in elections, as well as the burden of allegations he bears over former Minister of Justice Bola Ige’s assassination, his rejection in the poll would be a formality. But it is precisely Mr Omisore’s negative image that makes him dangerous and unscrupulous. He will not consider any tactics too low or contemptible to embrace. Osun APC should in fact be worried rather than celebrating.

What holds PDP together is melting at the core, says Osun APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared that the wind of change blowing in the PDP will “dismantle the political culture of graft, corruption and impunity in governance,” which it says the party represents since its assumption of power in 1999.

Reacting to the defection of 37 PDP members of the House of Representatives to the APC, the party said it welcomed it as a “unique situation which will resonate throughout the country and cripple the forces of retrogression that have been at the core of the country’s descent into a banana republic.”

The Osun APC’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said in a statement in Osogbo that “it will be a costly error for anybody to reduce this event to a sheer struggle for political power.”

He said: “A force perhaps beyond our comprehension has struck at the monstrous head of evil in Nigeria right there in Abuja which will cause the PDP house built on sand to collapse with a thunderous sound.

“Things cannot be the same anymore with the ruling party because what held it together has melted from its own heat – corruption, graft, mismanagement of funds and total misrule of Nigeria.”

He accused the PDP of “ utter misuse of illegitimate violence to muzzle dissent and terrorise opposition parties, rig elections and frustrate the will of the majority of our people, as a crime that is playing out with impunity in several states.”

APC hails Aregbesola on council creation bill

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has hailed Governor Rauf Aregbesola on the presentation of the bill for the creation of 27 local council development areas (LCDAs) to the House of Assembly.

In a statement by its Director of Publicity, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, APC described the governor’s move as “a great step in imprinting himself in the hearts of the people”.

Stressing that the governor has fulfilled all his electioneering promises, the party said: “Aregbesola is changing the face of politics from that of deceit to unimaginable credibility within a short period of three years. Aregbesola is not just about to create new councils, but set a precedence by making them more cost effective to run through a parliamentary system.

“This is typical of a leader that is thinking outside the box; a blessing for which Osun people are grateful to God. New councils will bring governance closer to the people and make it more participatory.”

APC alleged that some politicians in the opposition were planning to destroy the billboards of its aspirants.

It urged residents to be vigilant and report billboard vandals to the police.
