NNPCL: Lawyers storm AGF’s office as protest for probe of Kyari enters Day two

Over 500 anti-corruption lawyers on Wednesday stormed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) at the Ministry of Justice in Abuja to demand the immediate probe of Mele Kyari, the erstwhile Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

The lawyers, under the aegis of the Guardians of Democracy and Rule of Law, said they were out to rid the nation of corruption especially in the oil industry.

According to a petition co-signed Barrister Emmanuel Agada and Jonathan Uchendu, the lawyers lamented that Kyari’s leadership of the NNPCL was plagued with countless allegations of corruption over the alleged opaque way he ran the organisation.

The lawyers cited the controversy surrounding the rehabilitation and restreaming of government-owned refineries, where billions of dollars were spent but the figures and facts do not add up.

The petition highlighted the case of a oil firm, which allegedly invested $400 million in the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery, even as the Federal Executive Council had approved $1.5 billion for the repairs of the same facility.

The NNPCL, they alleged, is owing the firm more than $2 billion, with the debt being serviced through daily crude oil allocations to Matrix Energy that are not being paid for.

The lawyers demanded that the AGF review all agreements entered into by the NNPCL under Kyari’s administration, launch a fact-finding investigation into the questionable transactions, and institute a commission of inquiry into the NNPCL’s handling of the refineries’ repairs under Kyari.

The protesting lawyers vowed to continue their agitation until Kyari is brought to justice and the truth about the alleged corruption is uncovered.

The petition added: “The Guardians of Democracy and Rule of Law strongly believe that getting to the root of this matter will help the Federal Government to account for how public resources were squandered on the controversial refineries’ repairs undertaken under the Kyari leadership.

“In view of the facts stated above, we request that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation to immediately review all agreements entered by the NNPCL under the Mele Kyari administration.

“An investigation into the questionable transactions would also point the government in the direction of what funds to recover and from whom, which is sorely needed now considering Nigeria’s economic condition.

“Furthermore, investigating all that transpired will set the stage for holding even the current leadership accountable while equally identifying potential pitfalls for those who are now in charge so that Nigeria is not caught in a loop of repeating the same mistakes.

“A fact-finding investigation be launched to ascertain how much the Federal Government has lost to such agreements and recommendations on concrete steps to recover identified funds. We demand for an immediate judicial review of all matters related thereto.

“The Guardians of Democracy And Rule of Law will appreciate it if the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation can escalate the issue to a point where the Federal Government institutes a commission of inquiry into NNPCL’s handling of the refineries’ repairs under Kyari and the sacked board. “

A deputy Director at the office of the AGF, Winifred Adekunle, who received the petition promised to deliver it to the Justice minister and assured them that prompt action will be taken.

Protesters demand prosecution of ex-NNPCL CEO Kyari

A group of protesters, Concerned Citizens Against Corruption, stormed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice on Tuesday to demand the prosecution of former Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, and a thorough investigation into the company’s transactions for the past five years.

The protesters, led by its Convener, Comrade Kabir Matazu, expressed disappointment that despite President Bola Tinubu’s sack of Kyari and the entire NNPCL board on April 2, 2025, no steps have been taken to investigate the alleged corrupt practices under Kyari’s leadership.

The group highlighted the controversy surrounding the rehabilitation and restreaming of government-owned refineries, citing allegations of billions of dollars being spent without transparency.

They also pointed out a perplexing issue where NNPCL is reportedly owing Matrix Energy over $2 billion, with the debt being serviced through daily crude oil allocations.

“It is on record that this sack of the erstwhile corrupt leadership of the NNPCL drew applause from Nigerians, especially groups like our, which had been at the forefront of demanding accountability and transparency in the running of institutions,” Matazu said.

“It is also of note that in Mele Kyari leadership of the NNPCL was plagued with countless and endless allegations of corruption owing the opaque way he ran the place, more of a racket in favour of his friends and associates.

“This handling of the place was so suffocating to the national economy that Nigerians were taking to the streets to demand Kyari’s removal from the job, which Mr President eventually acceded to.

“However, Nigerians are disenchanted that Mr President has only stopped at removing the former leadership without taking steps to investigate how the Kyari and his cabal bled this country dry in various ways, which we believe is still hurting the country economically as we speak.

“In this regard, a sore point is the fraud surrounding the rehabilitation and the restreaming of the government owned refineries. The figures and the facts are simply not adding up.

“In addition to the billions of dollars that the Kyari-led administration claimed to have spent on fixing the refineries, it also claimed that one of his fronts, Matrix Energy Limited invested $400 million in the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery. This is even as the Federal Executive Council had approved $1.5 billion for the repairs of the same facility.

Read Also: NNPC: Ojulari takes over from Kyari, seeks management, staff support to attain enormous targets

“But there are even more perplexing issues emerging. The NNPCL is now reportedly owing Matrix Energy more than $2 billion. This debt is being serviced through daily crude oil allocations to Matrix Energy that are not being paid for.

“What we are talking about here is a daily allocation of 80,000 barrels of crude oil to a non-state actors running a security outfit.

“There are consequently posers that require urgent clarifications. Why and how is the Federal Government through the NNPCL owing Matrix Oil $2 billion? Why is the debt being paid with daily supply of crude oil? Who were the parties to the negotiations of this satanic deal? Why are Nigerians being kept in the dark?

“The Concerned Citizens Against Corruption strongly believes that getting to the root of this matter will help the Federal Government to account for how public resources were squandered on the controversial refineries’ repairs undertaken under the Kyari leadership.

“In view of the foregoing, the Concerned Citizens Against Corruption calls on the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation to immediately review all agreements entered by the NNPCL under the Mele Kyari administration.

“This investigation should find out how much the Federal Government has lost to such agreements and recommendations on to recover identified funds. We demand for an immediate judicial review. “

The Concerned Citizens Against Corruption called on the Minister of Justice to escalate the issue to a point where the Federal Government institutes a commission of inquiry into NNPCL’s handling of the refineries’ repairs under Kyari and the sacked board.

The protesters vowed to continue demanding accountability and transparency in the running of institutions, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve to know the truth about the alleged corrupt practices under Kyari’s leadership.

Zulum, Kyari seek action on climate change, flooding

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum  yesterday  called for a paradigm shift from short-term humanitarian interventions to sustainable, long-term strategies  to combat the effects of climate change in the state.

He made the call at the ongoing fifth Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum (LCBGF)  in Maiduguri, the state capital.

He, however, stressed the urgent need for climate-resilient agricultural practices and robust infrastructure development in order to safeguard livelihoods and ensure food security in the face of escalating environmental challenges.

The governor acknowledged the disproportionate impact of climate change on the Sahel region, particularly in Northern Borno and parts of neighbouring Niger and Chad, where erratic rainfall patterns and prolonged droughts pose significant threats to agricultural productivity.

He said the region’s average rainfall of less than 250 millimeters necessitated for a greater reliance on irrigation for successful crop production.

“The reality of climate change is undeniable. We have witnessed a significant shift in rainfall patterns in recent years.

“In Maiduguri, rainfall, which was previously between 400 and 500 millimeters, has now increased to 600-700 millimeters, marked by intense and prolonged periods of rainfall,” Zulum said.

The governor, however, attributed the changes to global environmental factors, including greenhouse gas emissions and widespread deforestation.

He also highlighted the extensive damage caused by recent flooding in the state, which had disrupted agricultural activities and impacted livestock production.

Zulum expressed gratitude to international organisations such as the World Food Programme (WFP), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for their humanitarian assistance in providing food, non-food items, and cash support to displaced populations.

The governor  stressed the critical need for a more sustainable approach to disaster preparedness and mitigation. “We must move beyond temporary solutions,” he emphasised.

Zulum also advocated for increased investment in critical infrastructure, particularly water harvesting systems, to effectively manage seasonal floods.

At a panelists’ session at the LCBGF, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, called for enhanced collaboration between government, banks and communities to combat the challenges of climate change, insecurity and poverty in the Lake Chad Basin.

He stressed the need to address the barriers faced by smallholder farmers, particularly the lack of access to capital.

He said that the Ministry of Agriculture was working with banks to assist farmers and

improve their livelihoods, being the key focus of government’s eight-point agenda.

The minister added that “smallholder farmers lack access to capital and this is a major hurdle for them. We are actively engaging financial institutions to provide support because agriculture is the backbone of the region.”

He hailed the proactive efforts of some states like Borno, noting that the leadership of Gov. Zulum had been instrumental to uplifting the livelihoods of the people, in spite of challenges in the region.

The minister emphasised the role of agriculture in poverty reduction and addressing broader socio-economic issues, including insecurity and corruption.

He acknowledged that the region’s traditional farming methods were no longer sufficient to cope with, considering the changing weather conditions, particularly the unpredictable rainfall and desertification affecting local communities.

Kyari added that “climate change is real. The desert has moved south, and the pattern of rainfall has changed drastically. In the past, farmers relied on traditional knowledge, but today, this is no longer enough.

“We must adapt and innovate. Technology could play a role in predicting weather patterns and mitigating the effects of climate change.”

I rose from Almajiri to become NNPCL boss, says Mele Kyari

    • Tantita hails NNPCL GCEO

The man sitting at the top of Africa’s leading oil firm – the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) – was an Almajiri as a boy.

Mele Kolo Kyari made this revelation in a tweet on his X handle yesterday to mark his 60th birthday.

The Almajiri is a system of Islamic education practised in northern Nigeria.

It encourages guardians to cede parental responsibilities to Islamic schools.

Many Almajiri children roam the streets of many Northern cities and towns.

Kyari said: “Allah, by his grace, spared my life to this exceptional day, making it my 60th year from birth, even much earlier on the Hijra calendar.

“I am profoundly grateful to my country for giving me the opportunity to grow from an Almajiri (Tsangaya) school pupil to become the CEO of Africa’s largest energy company.

“My deep appreciation to my family, friends and associates, my colleagues at work and my teachers (western and of Almajiri extractions) and many unmentioned people who account for many of my accomplishments, unconditional support and my overall wellbeing.”

Kyari, however, did not give further information on his Almajiri background.

He started post-primary education in 1977 at the Government Community Secondary School Biu, Borno State.

He completed his secondary school in 1982 and attended the University of Maiduguri where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology and Earth Science in 1987.

He joined the then-NNPC in 1991.

In his tweet, Kyari expressed gratitude to Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving him the opportunity as chief executive of the oil giant.

“Even more particular, I deeply appreciate the exceptional privilege given to me by Presidents Buhari and Tinubu to serve as the last GMD of the NNPC and the pioneer CEO of the NNPC Limited.

“Reflecting backwards alone can’t account for the profoundly eventful life I spent to this date, walking through good and bad times, travails and triumphs, pains and happiness, fails and successes and many more that only the sufficiency of Allah will explain.

“At this milestone, I feel the obligation to serve with even greater conviction and with elevated expectation of eternal recompense so deeply pleasing.

“I am hugely indebted to my family for being nearly absent for most of my later years serving our nation and the common good.”

Buhari appointed Kyari as NNPC GMD on June 20, 2019. He officially assumed the role in July of the same year.

On July 19, 2022, at the transformation of NNPC to NNPCL, Kyari assumed office as Group Chief Executive Officer of the Limited Liability Company.

    Tompolo hails NNPCL GCEO

The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) hailed Kyari on his 60th birthday.

Tompolo’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo.

The former Niger Delta freedom fighter, while noting that Kyari had “remarkably transformed NNPCL to the acknowledgement and admiration of the doubting Thomases,” expressed renewed commitment to building on the achievements made in Nigeria’s increased crude oil production.

The Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw nation commended the NNPCL GCEO for his patriotic and nationalistic zeal.

He said: “Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, in sustained strides, has succeeded in putting Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and development in tandem with the development blueprints and economic recovery plans of President Tinubu, as carefully enunciated in the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Recalling that the defunct NNPC was comatose before Kyari came to its rescue, Tompolo emphasised that the success stories recorded by the company under his supervision had received widespread accolades from all relevant stakeholders.

Tompolo commended Mallam Kyari for ensuring that two of the nation’s refineries, the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Port-Harcourt Refining and Petrochemical Company, were revamped.

He said: “This has led to the unlocking of a total refining capacity of 117,000 barrels per day (bpd) with the operational take-off of both the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries in November and December 2024, respectively.

“The Port Harcourt refinery, which resumed production on November 26, 2024, after extensive rehabilitation, currently operates at 70 per cent, thus accounting for 42,000 barrels per day capacity, while the Warri refinery restarted operations on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 60 per cent capacity, translating to 75,000 barrels per day.

“This revival is expected to enhance Nigeria’s energy security and reduce reliance on imported refined products, marking a significant step in the country’s refining sector transformation”.

Similarly, Tompolo, whose company, TSSNL, is a major actor in the war against crude oil theft and other sharp practices associated with petroleum products in the Niger Delta, appreciated Kyari’s commitment and encouragement in the battle to save the nation’s economic mainstay from saboteurs.

“When the production of crude oil was threatened, you responded with unwavering resolve and developed the right security architecture, which culminated in the involvement of non-state actors, including Tantita, in the task of policing oil pipelines and tackling crude oil theft, and establishment of the state-of-art command and control centre.

“These bold collaborative efforts curbed crude oil theft and sabotage.

“It’s to your credit that you evolved, restructured from the dysfunctional NNPC to a profit-making model, using sanity and efficiency as the watchwords towards steady increase and the consequential unimaginable quantum leap in the production of crude oil from the abysmal 600,000bpd to 1.8mbpd.

“The pointers that the crude oil production is itching towards 2mbpd is the hallmark of your innovative driven-culture.

“Sir, we celebrate and owe President Tinubu and your esteemed self, a load of gratitude for the production level we attained today,” Tompolo added.

Extending wishes of long life and robust health to the celebrator, the Tantita Chairman expressed the commitment of his firm to collaborate with other state and non-state actors in sustaining the upward crude oil production trend.

“I, on behalf of the management and staff of TSSNL, congratulate the indefatigable Mallam Kyari on his glorious 60th birthday.

“As we pray the Almighty Allah to continue to grant you sound health, wisdom and strength in the task of nation building, Tantita seizes this medium to renew its loyalty and commitment to the onerous tasks of sustaining the milestones being recorded under watch,” Tompolo stated.

    Okupe: You’ve shamed critics

A former presidential spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe, also congratulated Kyari on his 60th birthday.

He said the NNPCL under the leadership of Kyari has shamed critics.

“I am one of those who were critical of NNPC and even laughed at the creation of the NNPCL.

“Like my former boss President OBJ (Olusegun Obasanjo), I never thought anything good could come out of NNPCL or its leadership.”

“The recent multi-faceted and dimensional achievements of the corporation have shamed us former critics and have made some of us very proud of Mele Kyari and his management team.

“The revival of our refineries and revitalisation of critical infrastructure of the industries, leading to a significant downward trend of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump prices, is worthy of commendation.

“I seize this opportunity to congratulate Mr Kyari on his attainment of the age of 60 years,” Okupe said.

The former Director-General of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation apologised to the NNPCL boss for not having faith in the corporation initially.

He wished Kyari more success and expressed hope he would take steps to help further bring down PMS prices to ease challenges faced by many Nigerians.

Okupe prayed God to bless and reward Kyari “mightily”.

  • 1.8m crude bpd milestone: Energy transformation on course under Kyari

1.8m crude bpd milestone: Energy transformation on course under Kyari

    • By Ade Olusokan

It is a major milestone in the history of crude oil exploration in Nigeria. The nation is gradually hitting the mark for the crude oil quota from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), thereby revving up the nation’s earnings and setting the country on the path of sustainable growth.

Under the visionary leadership of Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), the company has achieved remarkable milestones, transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Among these achievements is the recent attainment of 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) in crude oil production and 7.4 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) per day in gas production.

Many detractors and critics of the NNPCL chief were shocked when the landmark achievement was announced recently. Unperturbed by the well-oiled campaign of calumny launched against him by elements who were jittery by his revolutionary plan for the nation’s oil corporation, Kyari remained committed to best global practices, innovation, collaboration, and resilience in steering the company and the nation’s energy sector toward sustainability and growth.

Since assuming leadership, Mele Kyari has demonstrated a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s energy sector. His tenure has been marked by bold initiatives and strategic decisions, aimed at ensuring that NNPC Ltd remains competitive and profitable in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.

Kyari’s leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and transparency. By fostering partnerships with key stakeholders and deploying cutting-edge technologies, the NNPCL, under his watch, has created a culture of accountability and efficiency within the company. This has not only led to increased production levels but has also restored confidence in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

One of the most notable achievements under Kyari’s leadership is the recent increase in crude oil production to 1.8mbpd and gas output to 7.4bscf per day. This milestone is a significant improvement from the 1.43mbpd recorded in June 2024 when the Production War Room Team was inaugurated.

The Production War Room, a strategic initiative envisioned and established  by Kyari, played a pivotal role in this success. The strategic team comprises g experts and key stakeholders, the team implemented a series of interventions across the production chain to address inefficiencies and security challenges. Through collaboration with government and private security agencies, as well as Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners, the team restored production levels and set the stage for sustained growth.

The success of the Production War Room and the subsequent production milestone would not have been possible without the collective efforts of various stakeholders. Speaking on the achievement, Kyari praised the team for their dedication and highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving progress.

“The team has done a great job in driving this project of not just production recovery but also escalating production to expected levels that are in the short and long terms acceptable to our shareholders,” Kyari remarked.

Other stakeholders, including Chief Pius Akinyelure, Chairman of the NNPC Ltd Board of Directors, and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), also commended the team’s efforts and pledged continued support.

In addition to an increase in crude oil production, the rise in gas production to 7.4bscf per day is also a testament to NNPC Ltd’s focus on diversifying Nigeria’s energy portfolio. As the world transitions to cleaner energy sources, natural gas is emerging as a critical bridge fuel. Nigeria’s abundant gas reserves position it as a potential leader in the global energy market.

Under Kyari’s leadership, NNPC Ltd has prioritized gas development, aligning with the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas initiative. The company’s efforts in this area include expanding domestic gas infrastructure, promoting gas-to-power projects, and exploring opportunities for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.

The NNPCL also played a key role in deepening the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. These efforts include partnering with NIPCO Gas Limited to build 35 CNG stations across Nigeria, NNPC Retail has also trained over 1,000 auto mechanics on how to convert vehicles to CNG, aided with toolboxes, coveralls and generators among others. The PCNGi supports the deployment of CNG vehicles and helps individuals and businesses convert their vehicles into CNG. The initiative aims to: Reduce dependence on fossil fuels; Enhance energy independence ;Lower energy costs for citizens ;Provide economic relief; Reduce transportation cost and contribute to Nigeria’s national goals of reducing emissions and combating climate change

The increase in crude oil and gas production has significant implications for Nigeria’s economy. As the country’s primary source of revenue, the oil and gas sector plays a crucial role in funding government initiatives and driving economic development. The recent milestone positions Nigeria to better meet its OPEC obligations while boosting foreign exchange earnings.

Additionally, increased production capacity enhances Nigeria’s ability to attract foreign investments. With a stable and secure production environment, international investors are more likely to view Nigeria as a viable destination for energy projects.

These remarkable feats didn’t happen in isolation. There were a number of factors that made the achievements possible.  Under Kyari’s guidance, NNPC Ltd prioritized the security of oil and gas infrastructure. Pipeline vandalism and theft had long plagued the sector, leading to significant revenue losses and production disruptions. To tackle this, the company worked closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other security agencies to monitor pipelines and protect assets. These measures have not only reduced theft but also ensured uninterrupted production.

Another strategy the company adopted innovative approaches to maximize output from existing fields while exploring new opportunities. By leveraging advanced technologies and streamlining operations, NNPC Ltd has been able to optimize production processes and achieve higher efficiency.

Kyari’s emphasis on collaboration has been a key driver of success. The coordinated efforts of Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners ensured that resources and expertise were pooled to address production challenges. This partnership model has proven to be effective in driving sustainable growth.

The establishment of the Production War Room demonstrated Kyari’s proactive leadership. By closely monitoring production activities and implementing targeted interventions, the team was able to swiftly address bottlenecks and sustain momentum.

Buoyed by the current momentum, NNPCL under Kyari is confident in its ability to reach 2mbpd by the end of 2024. This ambitious target, declared NNPCL boss, has outlined a roadmap for achieving the goal, which includes further investments in infrastructure, exploration of new oil fields, and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders. The company is also exploring opportunities to leverage renewable energy sources, ensuring a balanced and sustainable energy mix.

Nigerians urged to support oil sector reforms under Kyari

Nigerians have been tasked to support ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector under the leadership of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.

The call was made by Mohammed Abdullahi of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations Against Corruption (COCSOAC); Oluwatoyin Animashaun of Nigeria Professionals in Diaspora and Kenneth Emea of Bloggers and content creators association of Nigeria at a joint news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

The coalition said that recent attacks against Kyari were attempts to “derail the critical progress that has been achieved under his leadership.”

While expressing firm support for Kyari, the coalition urged President Bola Tinubu not to yield to these “unfounded demands for his sack.”

Animashaun, who read the text of the press conference said: “Since his appointment as GCEO of NNPCL, Mele Kyari has been a transformative force in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, a sector that has long suffered from inefficiencies, corruption, and lack of accountability. Under his watch, there has been a profound shift toward transparency, professionalism, and operational efficiency. His stewardship has saved billions of naira, ensuring that NNPCL can finally act as a reliable and accountable player in the global oil industry while driving national economic growth. Kyari has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to cleaning up the sector, implementing key reforms that have restored investor confidence and positioned Nigeria on the path to energy self-sufficiency.

“One of the landmark achievements under Mele Kyari’s leadership has been the successful transition of NNPC into a limited liability company (NNPCL), operating with greater transparency and subject to industry best practices. This restructuring was crucial for creating a financially viable, market-driven entity that can compete with global oil giants. This historic shift is the result of visionary leadership and dedication to reform—a testament to Kyari’s resolve in transforming NNPCL from a government entity into a commercially viable and profit-driven corporation.

“Moreover, Kyari has been instrumental in reducing the long-standing problem of oil theft, which had cost Nigeria billions of dollars annually. Through strategic partnerships with security agencies, he has championed efforts to curb this menace, enhancing the nation’s revenue base and enabling a fair share of resources for development. Kyari’s efforts are restoring accountability in the oil sector and demonstrating what can be achieved with principled leadership and a commitment to national interests.

“We recognise that reform is often met with resistance, especially from those who have benefited from the previous status quo. The recent calls for Kyari’s sack appear to be orchestrated by these interests, who are threatened by the transparency and accountability he has brought to the oil sector. But we stand here today to affirm that Nigeria cannot afford to reverse the gains that have been achieved. We call upon the President to remain steadfast and not succumb to these baseless demands. Nigeria needs leaders who are willing to challenge the status quo and work in the best interests of the nation, as Kyari has consistently demonstrated.

“We urge all well-meaning Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to lend their voices to support Mele Kyari and the reforms he has championed. Let us reject the divisive tactics of those who seek personal gain at the expense of national progress. The oil sector reforms under Kyari’s leadership have brought us hope and a renewed sense of purpose, and we must not allow vested interests to undermine these achievements.”
