Bosso urges  state gov’t to support Bayelsa United

Bayelsa United head coach, Ladan Bosso has called on the state government to be more concerned about the plight of the team.

The Prosperity Boys only escaped relegation by the whiskers last season but the current season has not been different despite the acquisition of Bosso with the club languishing in 18th  spot with 10 points after 10 games.

Bosso told journalists in Yenagoa shortly after the game that he has not got the needed encouragement and that things must be done fast about that to avoid a not too pleasant outcome.

“I think I am the best for the job. I am not only a coach I am also an instructor. Go and ask them to tell you the truth. Who played better in the game?” Bosso asked rhetorically.

“Bayelsa Queens that are yet to start the women’s league have had all their players cleared but most of the players we used today are yet to be cleared. We still are playing at the mercies of the managers.”

The former Abia Warriors, Gombe United and Kano Pillars gaffer rued his sides’ missed chances in the game with Enyimba while asserting that they would pay more attention to conversion of chances in the build up to their weekend tie with Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

Bosso noted that he is not bothered about the present position of Bayelsa United having been in similar situations in the past with some of his former clubs and still helped them to retain their topflight status.

He said: “The most important thing in football is creation of chances because when you create chances goals will come. What we need to do is to work on the attack so that we can convert the chances we created.

“I have faced this kind of situation before . Remember in 2007 I was in Wikki Tourists. We went to the FIFA Under 20 World Cup and returned with just seven games to the end of the season with Wikki Tourists in last position. When I resumed with a few reinforcements we were able to finish in the seventh position.

“With what we played now, it is just for us to work on the attack I think we can get something in Port Harcourt.”

Stop signing watery contracts: Bosso tells Nigerian coaches

Coach of premier league side Elkanemi Warriors Ladan Bosso, has told coaches in the country to stop signing watery contracts on one hand and settling for gentleman’s agreement on the other.

He noted that desperation has forced many coaches in the country to cheapen the coaching profession by accepting jobs without defined agreement only to lament about poor treatment and non payment of salaries among other lamentations songs.

Where there is no agreement from the outset, he said it becomes difficult to hold a club responsible a blissful romance hits the rock.

“We cannot continue they way we are going.  If you must work for any club insist on having a contract.  A written contract which specifies how much you will be paid, mode of payment, how long you will stay on the job conditions under which the contract can be terminated and so on. When you have such agreement signed by both parties it becomes binding and you can pursue a case if need be.

The era of gentleman’s agreement is over so our coaches must wake up to realities, “he submitted

The former under 17 and 20 coach regretted the coaching professional in Nigeria has become the centre of controversy where coaches and their employers are always at logger heads over entitlements.  Such recurring decimals according to the former Tornadoes, Wikki Tourist and Abia Warriors coach affects the game in the long run. “We should not be having such controversies every now and then because it affects the game one way or the other because it is a major distraction, “he added.

Elkanemi Warriors are waxing strong this season in the NPFL, and currently occupy the second position with 30 points in 17 matches just a point behind table toppers Plateau united. Some diehard fans of the Maiduguri based  side are hoping that their performance remains on high with hope rising on the possibility of earning a continental ticket at the end of the season.

He needs a coach to manage him to mature well. He is not yet matured to play for Akwa United,” Bosso disclosed to SportingLife.
He added: “I always paired him with Umar Zango so that he can learn more from him. Money is not everything. For his future, he should follow sequence of development. I am advising him to return to Maidiguri because is not going to be released to any club.”

Ex-Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, has tipped the Golden Eaglets to defeat Mexico and secure a place in the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Bosso said the players were splendid in their two games and are hot favorites to book a final ticket.

However, he warned the boys to maintain tactical discipline for the remaining part of the competition if they hope to defend the title.

“I want to assure you that the Eaglets will beat Mexico and also win the U-17 World Cup again. The boys have played with so much enthusiasm and discipline and if they maintain same till the end of the competition, it will be hard for any of the remaining teams to beat them,” Bosso told Goal.

“I also want to hail the impact of the highest scorer, Victor Osimhen. He has been remarkable in Chile and I tip him to lead Nigeria to the title.”

    Bosso impressed with home-based Eagles

Coach of Nigeria  Professional Football  League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors, Ladan Bosso, has thrown his weight behind the select league players who represented Nigeria’s senior national team in the Abu Dhabi tour.

24 NPFL players were invited by the NFF and Assistant Coach Daniel Amokachi to execute two international friendlies in January.

The Dan Amokachi-led team picked a win against Yemen and lost 1-0 to a Gervinho-inspired Ivory Coast side, who played a 1-1 draw in their first game in AFCON 2015 yesterday against Guinea.

Bosso identified the off-season in the league as a factor that could have affected the fitness of the players on the tour, nevertheless, he was impressed with the performance of the team.

“With the present situation, I’ll still have to praise the team. The season is off, players have been on holidays yet in training they put up true professional displays.”

The Abia Warriors continued: “We must be patient with the home-based players, they have a lot to offer the national teams.”

    • Backs Bubagha to lead team

NEW Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors, Ladan Bosso believes Bayelsa United can do well in this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup second round first leg clash against FC Konzo of DR Congo if the team is properly managed and in the right frame of mind.

Bosso dumped Bayelsa United to join Abia Warriors last week.

The former Flying Eagles coach told SportingLife that the recruitment he made for the team before he left is best for the continental engagement.

He added that the boys must be in a positive mind to get deserving result in Congo.

“By any standard the current squad is the best any team can have for the continental assignment. I must say that the team needs to be managed well and the boys must have a positive mind to get results. I don’t doubt that they will do well in Congo,” Bosso told SportingLife.

“The recruitment we did was best for continental engagement. We have some experienced players who have played continental games among the new players. Mutiu Adegoke played Champions League with Enyimba so also Olufemi Adebayo who has played at highest level including World cup. Sammuel Esuenyen and Okechukwu Gabriel have played in the continent too. Gabriel was part of CHAN Eagles in South Africa. So if they play in the good atmosphere they will deliver.”

The former Wikki Tourists of Bauchi has also advised the club’s management to allow his assistant coach Richard Bubagha to continue leading the team, stressing that any attempt to bring in new coach may destabilise the team build up.

“I think Bubagha is ripe to lead the team. He was part of recruitment exercise and we achieved everything together last season. He knows the terrain and he has the experience as well. I don’t think there is need to bring new coach for the club. This is the kind of situation that happened when I left Kano Pillars, the sorted for my advice and I told them that they should allow Mohammed Baba Ganaru to lead the team which they did. The rest is history today and Ganaru delivered, winning Glo League back to back with Pillars. What Bubagha need is the support of the management and cooperation of players. He will deliver.”
