Lagoon School stress parents’ involvement in child learning

Lagoon School in Lekki, Lagos State, has stressed the need for parents’ involvement in child learning.

At an Open House organised by the school, parents were told to always review their child’s performance and support their development.

Open House is one of the school’s most important annual event.  It allows parents to have a one-on-one with their child’s teachers. As well as engaging with parents, teachers listen to questions, give parents answers and build a relationship with them .

Upper Primary Coordinator, Mrs Toyin Binang, said it is important parents assess efforts made by the school in educating and training their children to be successful, noting improved performance by pupils.

She noted this is due to use of learning resources and standardised classroom techniques..

“This past term, the children performed better than before. I have asked parents to engage their children this holiday. They should engage them in study; a little play, a little study”

A parent, Mrs Adeoye Folashade, attested to the improvement of her child since joining the school. “She has improved in academics and behaviour”.

Femi Ogunjobi said “the school has improved my children academically – in hand writing, literacy and behaviour.”

Mrs Blessing Victor, a  teacher, said “as the term draws to a close, Lagoon is encouraging parents to keep their children busy with learning resources.”
