The Lagos Boat Regatta holds on December 21, the organisers have announced.
It was initially scheduled for the Easter period.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs.Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said the regatta is dedicated to showcasing Lagos’ rich aquatic heritage.
“The shift in date has allowed us to refine the programme, ensuring a bigger and more impactful event,” the Commissioner noted.
The regatta is set to deliver an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors. It will highlight Lagos’ vibrant aquatic culture, diverse traditions, and scenic waterways, reinforcing its status as a top tourism destination in Africa.

This edition aims to engage local fishing communities, celebrating their cultural contributions while exploring avenues to drive economic benefits for them.
The regatta also serves as a platform to promote Lagos’ picturesque beaches and thriving hospitality sector. Participants from the state’s five IBILE divisions will compete across various categories, with prizes to be won. Private boat owners will also showcase their creativity, adding a distinct Lagos flair to the event.
The commissioner urged stakeholders, residents, and visitors to save the date and join in celebrating Lagos’ aquatic legacy in spectacular fashion.
