Lagos health district conducts medical outreach in Ibeshe Riverrine community

The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, has advised mothers and caregivers to fully utilise the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) facilities provided by the Lagos State Government, noting that the centres are strategically established to ensure accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services at the grassroots level.

This statement was made recently during a medical outreach programme organised by the Lagos State Health District V for residents of ibeshe riverine area of Oriade LCDA.

Asiyanbi expressed concern over the low level of patronage at the Ibeshe Primary Health Care Centre. The Permanent Secretary disclosed that the facility records fewer than 20 patient visits per week and appealed to community members to take advantage of the healthcare services available to them.

Dr. Asiyanbi further advised caregivers to promptly administer Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to children experiencing diarrhoea and to immediately take such children to the nearest PHC if stooling occurs more than three times in a day, to prevent dehydration and other health complications.

During the outreach programme, a range of healthcare services were rendered free of charge, including Medical Consultations, Eye Screening, Malnutrition Screening, Deworming for children, and Dental Examination, Scaling and Polishing, Tooth Extraction, as part of the State Government’s commitment to improving community health outcomes.

Earlier at the event, Dr. Asiyanbi visited the newly renovated Ibeshe Primary Health Care Centre, where he inspected the facility and interacted with health workers to assess their welfare and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents.
