    Council distributes materials, vehicles to schools

    The Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, Adetoyese Olusi, has distributed school materials to all primary and secondary schools within the council.

    He said the initiative reflected his administration’s commitment to raising the standard of public education by providing students with essential learning tools.

    “We are determined to ensure that every child has access to quality education through the provision of complete school kits and improved learning environments,” he said.

    According to him, the school packages include uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, writing materials, and school bags tailored to meet the needs of students across government-owned schools in the LGA.

    He said the project was designed to eliminate basic learning challenges faced by pupils and reduce the financial burden on parents.

    In addition to the school items, the chairman also handed over five new official vehicles to key management staff of the local government.

    The council boss said the vehicles would enhance supervision, project monitoring, and overall administrative efficiency.

    He added that the project would be sustained and expanded in the coming months to accommodate additional support for teaching staff and infrastructure.

    APC Deputy Chairman of Lagos State, Moshood Mayegun, commended the initiative.

    He encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity.

     “The council chairman has done his part by easing the burden on your parents. Now, it is left for you to face your studies. Read your books and always remember this day when you become great in the future. The prayers in the corners of your homes, now and forever, will remain with you. May your parents reap the fruits of their labour,” he said.

    He added that the council assured that the initiative would be sustained and expanded in the coming months to include more support for teaching staff and educational infrastructure.

    Chairmanship aspirant unveils manifestos

    A chairmanship aspirant in Lagos Island Local Government of Lagos State, Biodun Coker, has unveiled his manifesto to the residents and supporters.

    Coker, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declared that he is the most qualified and best man for the job.

    Declaring his ambition at the Oluwole Car park opposite the Lagos Central Mosque, he said that his decision to contest was borne out of his desire to add value to the lives of residents and contribute to socio-economic development.

    He said some of the agelong challenges in the area have been identifed, dding that he is well prepared to solve them with full support from his team within the shortest period in office.

    Coker said  the residents, the business community and party faithful should hold him responsible if he fails to render account and deliver on the campaign manifesto at every one hundred days in office.

    Looking back at his interventions in the area in the last two years, Hon. Coker noted that his Biodun Coker Foundation had trained and empower over 790 children in computer literacy while 1,000 families have been registered to attend hospitals free for one year.

    In the area of education which he noted that was a priority, the Chairmanship aspirant disclosed that over 800 students have been offered free JAMB training while promising to empower all the public schools with ICT with 20 computers each to akcmolwdge the importance of education.

     He insists that the residents of Lagos Island Local Government deserves the best assuring them of producing more of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu and former Governor and Minister for Works, Babatunde Fashola.

    Biodun Coker said that his administration will initiate Irorun Scholarship scheme and revive all the Primary Health Care Centres within the locality towards bringing healthcare delivery closer to the door steps of residents in the arra.

    Mr. Oladele Musbau Taiwo who spoke on behalf of the Eko Pathfinders said that it was a glorious moment for them and happy to see the crowd that voluntarily came out to welcome the aspirant.

    He was of the view that Biodun Coker did not take a wrong decision by throwing his heart into the ring of the Premier Local Government Area and urged members and others to rally round him to succeed.

    Oladele Taiwo noted that Coker has brought a new dawn to the Lagos Island politics never witnessed in the history of the council assuring that he will keep to his electioneering campaign to improve the well being of residents.

    On behalf of the Arewa Community in Lagos Island Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Awalu noted that the choice of Biodun Coker was not by mistake promising their full support for his political aspiration.

    Mr. Festus okundiri who addressed the gathering on behalf of the Ndigbo declared that they will mobilise at least 5,000 votes for him from Jankara, Idumota and Balogun markets with large Igbo traders.

    He described the Chairmanship aspirant as God fearing and a thoroughbred grassroots person.

    While showing support for his son, Alhaji Yemisi Abdulbaqi Coker assured the gathering that he will not disappoint them saying his record while serving as Councillor are there for people to see.

    He appealed to residents and the political class to forgive him of any shortcomings adding that he was very elated to see the crowd that attended the event.

    A member of the Biodun Coker Foundation, Sekinah lawal said that the show of love and support for the aspirant was geniune due to his antecedents and selfless service to the people around the area.
