    Lagos college begins admission

    Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Yaba, has announced commencement of its admission for 2025/2026 academic session, inviting qualified candidates to apply for programmes in health technology.

    In a statement by the Provost, Prof Raheem Akewushola, the institution reiterated its commitment to providing top-tier health education.

    He warned prospective applicants to beware of fraudulent agents posing as admission facilitators.

    Akewushola stressed the need for transparency in the application process, urging applicants to obtain their admission forms through authorised platforms only.

    “It is crucial for candidates to follow the official guidelines and only to buy forms through sanctioned channels to ensure a smooth and legitimate admission process,” he said.

    According to the college, the sale of admission forms will end next Thursday, while the screening and entrance examination will hold on July 30.

    It encouraged interested candidates to act promptly and follow due process to secure their admission into the institution, renowned for producing frontline health care professionals.

    The Provost, Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Yaba, Prof Raheem Olasupo, has emphasized the enduring importance of nursing in the healthcare sector, describing it as a profession that cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence or automation.

    He said this at the institution’s 25th Matriculation for students admitted into full time programme for 2024/2025 academic session.

    Olasupo stated that importance of the unique human touch that defines nursing and its indispensable role in patients’ care.

    “Nursing is one facet of healthcare that will hardly be replaced by artificial intelligence or automated inventions. While technology has made significant strides in diagnostics and telemedicine, the empathetic and hands-on nature of nursing ensures its continued relevance in the evolving healthcare landscape,” he said.

    According to him, the transformative role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in reshaping learning is the dynamic nature of modern education.

    “At the convenience of their homes, students now have access to tools and software that can enhance their understanding of complex concepts. In healthcare, technologies like telemedicine and advanced diagnostic software have made life easier and more efficient for both practitioners and patients,” he explained.

    He noted that the increasing integration of technology in the future of the health sector is maintained and that nursing would remain a critical pillar.

    “Precision medicine and virtual diagnostics may advance, but the essential role of nurses in delivering compassionate care cannot be automated,” he said.

    He advised the newly matriculated students, on the importance of preparation, focus, and resourcefulness.

    The Registrar of LASCOHET, Adelakun Idris, described the event as the culmination of months of hard work and dedication.

     “Today is a day we’ve long anticipated, and it has finally come to pass. It has been a journey of sleepless nights and tireless efforts, but it is all worth it for the good of the college,” he said.
