“The past few months for me have been about the ‘why’ — why I do what I do and why I’ve made the choices I’ve made. Trust me, the search for these answers took me into the craziest phase of my life,” he wrote.

The rapper promised to share more details of this introspective experience with his audience, but not before unveiling the results through his new music.

“I will share this experience with you. I promise you I will. But not before I show you the result of what that experience brings”, he added.

Some alumni of the Big Brother Najia reality show have shared how it transformed their lives and catapulted their careers.

They made this known in a recent interview at Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s birthday party.

For Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the show’s host, he said Big Brother Naija was a launching pad for his career as a TV presenter, crediting the show with helping him discover his potential and noted that without it, he would likely be practicing law instead of hosting one of the most popular reality shows in Nigeria.

“It [BBNaija] definitely made me a TV presenter. I was never going to be doing this. It was not in my trajectory. I was a lawyer, and I was going to be practicing somewhere today. But I went into the Big Brother house and discovered that I have this thing about speaking. Without BBNaija, I wouldn’t have a career in television today,” he said.

Actress Bisola Aiyeola echoed similar sentiments, stating that while she was confident of her success in the entertainment industry, Big Brother Naija accelerated her rise to fame.

“Big Brother Naija escalated the success that I knew I was going to have either way, but the reality show took it like zillion steps faster to the top,” she said.

Other former contestants shared their own success stories, Elozonam, an actor and filmmaker, said the show elevated his brand and gave him much-needed exposure.

“Big Brother Naija elevated my brand. It gave my brand exposure”, he said.

Mercy Eke, a former winner, attributed her entire transformation to Big Brother Naija, saying it changed her, her brand, and her existence.

“Big Brother Naija changed me, changed my brand, changed my whole existence. I think you can see it right here”, she said.

Gideon Okeke, an actor, was more emphatic, stating that without Big Brother Naija, he would still be unknown and struggling.

DJ Neptune addresses Laycon’s ‘Nobody Icons’ remix royalties dispute

Singer DJ Neptune has denied allegations of defrauding former BBNaija winner Laycon over unpaid royalties for their collaboration on “Nobody Icons Remix.”

During a recent interview on the “Zero Conditions” podcast, DJ Neptune addressed the controversy, clarifying that the issue was related to documentation rather than any wrongdoing.

He explained that the song’s distribution deal included advanced marketing expenses that needed to be recovered.

DJ Neptune also noted that Laycon’s team was offered a percentage of the royalties, but they declined the offer, which has led to ongoing discussions between their legal representatives.

DJ Neptune expressed disappointment in Laycon’s decision to call him out on social media, which he felt misrepresented the situation and made it appear as though he had been defrauded.

“Laycon is my brother regardless. Let me just establish here that nobody ate anybody’s money. I want to believe that you’ve knowledge of the music business. When you’ve a deal with a distro company or a label and you’re being given advanced marketing money to push the music, the video or whatnot. They’ve to recoup. It’s a return on investment.

“So that’s where we are with ‘Nobody Icons’ Remix’. What Laycon is fighting for is the documentation. In all fairness to him, he reached out to me. So it wasn’t like anyone was cheating anyone. When Laycon reached out to me, I referred to my legal team. I even asked him for his lawyer’s contact which he sent to me and I forwarded it to them.

“I’m not a legal personnel. I’m a creative. I have to perform and take care of my family. So I’ve put this in the hands of people that will handle it. And then there was a conversation that was ongoing [between our lawyers]. So I guess, maybe my own fault was not going back to find out what was going on. But a certain percentage was proposed to Laycon’s team and they kicked back at it. And the conversation was just there”, he said.

He emphasised his respect for Laycon as a brother and fellow artist and expressed hope for a resolution to the dispute.

Despite the song’s release nearly four years ago, Laycon claims he has yet to receive payment from DJ Neptune, who has not responded to the allegations.

It’s sad some people don’t want Nigeria to get better – Laycon

Big Brother Naija ‘Lockdown’ winner, Olamilekan Agbeleshe aka Laycon, has expressed curiosity and concern regarding the way and manner some of the supporters of the opposition parties pray and hope Nigeria doesn’t get better.

He wondered why citizens would wish for their country not to get better because of political differences.

On his X handle, the singer wrote: “Abeg wait to… so there are people (Nigerians, living in Nigeria) actively hoping and praying for things not to get better in this country because their preferred candidate isn’t the current President?

    “To what end?”

His post earned backlash, with many slamming him as they quizzed whether it was the “prayers and wishes” of opposition party supporters that brought the current economic hardship in the country.

Reacting to the backlash, Laycon said he was misunderstood, stressing that the Nigerian leaders are a reflection of the Nigerian people.

He wrote: “I have always stood on the opinion that our leaders are a reflection of who we are as individuals. And as long as we as individuals don’t change, we’ll continue to experience what we give out. Living with the notion that disagreement means hostility and bad intentions is wrong.

“I put out a tweet concerning a conversation I had earlier today and the mentions and response to the tweet shows how much some of you do not read to understand before replying. Take a moment and think before talking or typing.

“And yes, I believe our leaders are a reflection of us as a people. We have bad leaders. Yes, but bad people become bad leaders, not the other way around. The everyday people who make life hard for everyday people need only be in power for them to become leaders.

“The fuel attendants during fuel scarcity, the POS attendants during Naira scarcity, if they become leaders what would they do? The ones earning money in dollars, do you think they pray for the exchange rate to reduce or increase? Your superpower of criticizing should be aimed at yourself once in a while.”

He stated that the only bullying he has experienced is from online trolls.

“I don’t think I am someone people can talk to anyhow because I don’t move that way. Naturally, I have a lot of people around me who love me and care for me. The energy we give out is always positive. I can’t be in that space, I take myself out of situations or conversations that would put me in that space.

The bullying I can talk about is from online trolls, I can’t talk about industry bullying because I haven’t experienced it. The bullying I have experienced isn’t the physical bullying but more of the online trolls,” he said.
