    Leo District 404B2 president pledges innovative leadership

    Leo Club District 404B2 Nigeria, the youth wing of Lions Club International District 404B2 Nigeria, has ushered in its 12th president for the year 2025/2026. He is Emmanuel Oladokun.

    The event, held on Sunday, also saw the installation of district officers and club presidents, highlighting a commitment to transformative service across Kwara, Ekiti, Osun and parts of Oyo and Lagos states.

    District Governor Eribake Oluwakemi praised Oladokun’s dedication, describing him as a leader with “vision, courage and humility”, who embodies the principle of service beyond self.

    She expressed confidence that his administration would achieve milestones, urging members to rally behind him. “The success of a leader depends on the strength of the team,” she noted.

    In his farewell address, outgoing president, Ayodele Kayode reflected on his tenure, citing achievements such as chartering six youth clubs, publishing a quarterly magazine and spearheading initiatives like World Diabetics Day.

    “My success was made possible by your support,” he told the audience, expressing optimism for the district’s future under Oladokun’s leadership.

    Speaking after his inauguration, Oladokun outlined his vision to “lead innovatively, bringing new ideas to the Leo District and serving communities differently and better.”

    Anchored on the theme: “Innovative Leadership: Service Beyond Self,” he emphasised addressing community needs through impactful projects. Oladokun announced plans for over 21 monthly initiatives, including donations to sick bays and elderly homes, campaigns to raise awareness about sickle cell disease, and a flagship legacy project of a 50-seater classroom donation to Itaji Community Grammar School in Itaji, Ekiti State.

    Oladokun also highlighted recent efforts, such as providing relief materials to the Igando IDP Camp in Lagos, conducting leadership boot camps, and partnering with the Kenya Academic Alliance to equip youth with practical skills for self-reliance.

    The luncheon doubled as a fundraiser for Lions Club International’s global causes, including diabetes, hunger relief, environmental protection, cancer awareness, youth development, humanitarian services, and disaster relief.

    The new president announced the successful chartering of a new youth club and the revitalisation of existing ones, aligning with Lions’ Mission 1.5 to expand community outreach.

    “We are building a stronger district for sustainable change,” Oladokun declared, calling on youths to join the movement.

    Leo Club replaces disable’s 15year-old wheelchair

    Ikeja Metro Leo Club, District 404 B2 recently replaced a disable’s worn-out 15-year old wheelchair with a brand new one.

    The occasion was the Ikeja Metro Leo Club Fundraising for Community Service Activities/Public Presentation of Leo Ignatius Chimaobi Okore, as the 17th club president alongside other officers in Lagos.

    Guest speaker at the event, First Vice District Governor, District 4043 Nigeria, Lion Mary Onu, who spoke on the topic: “My Almsgiving: A Source of Hope for the Betterment of the Future,” told the audience that almsgiving is an investment in the future, emphasising that, “Hope flourishes when people feel seen, valued, and supported. Imagine the impact of our collective almsgiving!

    “Each time I give, I am reminded that true wealth is not measured by what we accumulate, but by what we share. And as we give, we build bridges of hope, strengthen communities, and create a legacy of love and service.”

    Diamond Guiding Mother of The Day, Lion Blessing Umebali, whose speech was read by immediate past district president of the club, Lion Olufolake Adegoke, expressed her joy at the honour.

    Umebali, a member of Montreal Autism Community Lions Club, Quebec Canada, advised the new president: “Please always remember that leadership is not just about titles or positions, but about the positive influence you have on those around you.”

    The new president, Leo Okore expressed gratitude to the members for the opportunity, saying “is not just an honour, it is a responsibility that I hold dear.”
