Reality TV star Leo Da Silva has cautioned Nigerians against dictating how people should mourn their loved ones.

He reacted to the case of a content creator who lost his wife and was criticised for posting online shortly after her passing.

The creator explained that staying active online was necessary to provide for his three children.

Leo questioned the moral basis for judging how others grieve, stressing that everyone processes loss differently.

He also emphasised the need for empathy, especially toward those balancing grief with financial responsibilities.

“This guy makes content with his wife and his wife just died leaving him with 3 kids. Nigerians are telling him to go offline to mourn. He’s telling them he needs to be online so he can feed his family. Who tf are you to tell anyone what to do after they lose their loved one?”, he wrote.

The content creator’s followers, including a widower, shared their own experiences of being judged by others for how they handled their grief.

The widower’s message reads: “When I lost my wife 3yrs ago, people asked me to stop posting my about my business online and on my status because to them it was insensitive. These were people who didn’t even contribute a kobo to her coffin nor burial”.
