  • Idahosa fetes widows, less privileged at 54

    Founder of God First Ministries AKA (Illumination Assembly) Lekki, Lagos Bishop Isaac Idahosa has presented gift items to widows and less privileged on his 54th birthday.

    He also gave out awards of recognition to icons such Nollywood superstars such as Fred Amata, Zeb Ejiro, Monalisa Chinda, Angela Phlips, Racheal Oniga and Tricial Kirry.

    Some of the artistes who thrilled worshippers at the event include Mike Abdul, Monique, Mamuse twins, Psalm 100, Bishop Praise Machine, Mega Praise, Awesome Crew and Lion Dancers.

    The birthday coincided with the launch of his new book Don’t jump up, grow up reviewed by Archbishop John Osa-Oni and Prophet Chris Okafor.

    Some of the icons who received awards of excellence include Actress Rachael Oniga, Prophet Chris Okafor, Azuh Arinze, Azuh Amatus, Tricia Kirry(Bold faces) and General Michael.

  • Rotary Club empowers the less privileged

    Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, in conjunction with Rotaract Club of Omole-Golden, has empowered the less privileged by giving them tools.

    The empowerment, which was done to commemorate the 2019 World Rotaract Week, was held yesterday in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos.

    The President, Mrs. Ibironke Alaba, urged the recipients to use the items well.

    She said the empowerment, which was a joint project on vocational service, was being done by the clubs as part of their humanitarian services.

    A former President of the club, Mr. Abiodun Oshinibosi, said the empowerment was being carried out to enhance businesses and support people.

    Oshinibosi said: “You need to build a good relationship with your customers. You need to prioritise customer relationship. You should interact with your customers and prospective customers. If you do this, you will retain their patronage and secure new ones. Learn to treat your customers and clients well. Do them right.”

    Rotaract Club of Omole-Golden President Deji Sobowale hailed Rotary Club of Omole-Golden for being a role model, a motivator and a supporter.

    A recipient, Mrs. Yinka Fusigboye, a hairdresser, who was given a dryer, on behalf of others, thanked the clubs for their gesture.

    She said: “We will use the equipment well and obey the advice given us.”

    Other recipients are Mr. Ope Adebayo, Mr Kehinde Fatai and Mr Olusola Adedayo, who received a pair of clippers each, Mrs. Iyabo Adebola got a drive (a machine used to check sugar level) and Miss Temitope Oladunwo, a sewing machine.

  • Kogi First Lady fetes less-privileged

    The joy of the needy at Okene, Kogi State knew no bounds as Kogi State first lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Amina Oyiza Bello, the Hayat Foundation extended her philanthropic gesture to the less privileged as the team led by Hajia Fati gave out food and other relief materials  in the spirit of giving back and demonstrating love and compassion.

    In the same vein, on January 1, Her Excellency, Amina Oyiza Bello during her visit to karama Jiji ; home for people with disabilities paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler. She pledged her support to the community saying that her Foundation is not only committed to the well being of the community of disabled people in karama Jiji but through the Foundation’s Economic Empowerment program.

    “These people will be empowered through vocational skills and for those with talents and trades, the Foundation will support them in translating their talent into wealth creation in order for them to be self-reliant and major contributors to nation building”.

    She stressed the need for society to stop discrimination against people with disability but rather to show love and compassion and respect for them. She also urged government to give people with disability equal right as other citizens without disability.

    Mrs Bello further encouraged the community of people to be confident in themselves and that disability should not be a barrier to them living a purposeful life. She reiterated  Hayat Foundation commitment to advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.

  • Apostle supports less privileged on birthday

    Presiding Pastor of Chris Holy Mountain Lagos, Apostle Sediq Moses celebrated his birthday recently by providing support for the less privileged.

    Moses offered cash and materials support for the less privileged, saying it was his way of giving back and appreciating God.

    He said: “My birthday is as good as the day the Lord has chosen to add another grace to the ministry, not just to gather people to eat.

    “It’s a day of giving another meaning to lives, putting smiles on the faces of people who do not have.”

    The Apostle urged Nigerians to continue praying for political leaders.

    According to him: “If Atiku wants to be President, let him stay out of troubles. God will give it to him and if Buhari wants to be re-elected, let him ask for mercy and stay out of troubles.”

    He also called on the leaders to work together and work for the progress of the masses.

  • Foundation lifts widows, less privileged

    A non-governmental organisation, OVL Foundation, has provided free medical check-ups for widows and market women in Lagos.

    It also distributed free drugs at a special concert and outreach for widows, women and the less privileged at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba.

    OVL’s Executive Director Victor Laniyan said God inspired him to establish the foundation to empower women, especially widows and the less privileged.

    He said: “Today we are remembering women. We have decided to help women, who are in need in our society.

    “I want to encourage women whether married, single, and young girls that there is hope for them. Widows should not give up irrespective of what they go through.

    “It may be a big deal for them to go to hospital for treatments, hence the reason we decided to bring along doctors and nurses who will help to diagnose them and give medications as required.

    “As for critical cases, a referral letter will be given to such patients to the nearest government health facilities where they will be treated.”

    Laniyan said the foundation had an agenda for  women empowerment in the form of skill acquisition and financial assistance and health intervention.

    “We go round Nigeria to help the underprivileged widows in the society and today we are at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

    “Specifically to give praise to God, and while doing that, we’re also helping the widows and the less privileged by providing medical assistance, which would have cost them a fortune if they were to go to hospitals.”

    A member of the medical team who simply identified herself as Bukola, said those diagnosed with ailments had been given professional advice, while those with minor cases were given drugs.

    She said: “We check their glucose level, as many of them are hypertensive and diabetic; we advise them to visit hospitals for medical check-ups because the major health challenge we have in Nigeria is that many people do not visit hospital for medical check-ups until they at the point of death.”

    One of the widows, Mrs. Ronke Ibirogba, said since her husband died in 2013, leaving her with 10 children, she had been moving from one relative to another, begging for alms.

  • Empress Njamah donates to the less-privileged

    To celebrate her birthday which took place over the week, Nollywood actress Empress Njamah donated food, wheel chairs and other items to children on the streets.

    Njamah, the founder of House of Empress, a foundation catering to children with special needs which she started in 2006 said charity was inborn in her.

    “Charity is my passion and in my next world I would want to do same,” she said.

    “They give me so much joy. 20 wheel chairs this year! Never say never! Trust in God and have faith and it will come to pass! The devil tried to discourage me but God pass am! Thank you Lord because it can only be You.”

    In 2012, Empress Njamah was nominated for best supporting actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, but lost out to Terry Pheto, started acting in 1995.

  • StarTimes, Ooni empower less privileged

    StarTimes Nigeria is  partnering with Hopes Alive Initiative (HAI), a Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan, to empower the less privileged.

    During a Give-Back Concert held recently in Lagos, the Managing Director of StarTimes Nigeria, Justin Zhang, said CSR is a core value at StarTimes Nigeria. He said StarTimes focuses on children because they are the most vulnerable in the society.

    “When we heard about this laudable initiative from the Ooni of Ife, we took an interest immediately because we are always optimistic about getting involved with youths projects.

    “We have a project currently ongoing in Abuja and we are working with Nigerians in conjunction with the Chinese Government to support the villages in Nigeria,” Zhang said.

    HAI, which is targeted at the less privileged, seeks to draw attention and bring out abilities in disabilities, thereby using the platform to raise funds for orphanages.

    HAI in collaboration with StarTimes said it seeks to empower the less privileged in the society as a way of creating a sustainable social value for communities and individuals.

    The Ooni urged well-meaning Nigerians to care  for the less privileged children, to enable more orphans benefit and sustain a decent living.

    “I have made up my mind to celebrate the less privileged. I want them to meet with world leaders and successful people in the society so that they can feel what a regular person in the society feels. Believe me; these kids have raw, untapped, amazing and unique talents,” the Ooni stated.

  • Cleric charges the rich over less-privileged

    The founder and General Overseer of Living Spring Church, Pastor Femi Emmanuel has appealed to well-meaning individuals to always show concern to the well-being of the less privileged and needy who are in their larger numbers in the society. He made the appeal while giving his word of exhortation at the launching of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) initiated and named after the wife of a popular gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele, christened Temitope Titilope Ayefele Foundation (TTAF).

    The event held at Music House Hall of Fresh FM radio station, located along Ibadan-Lagos expressway, Challenge, Ibadan. According to the cleric, no mortal will be remembered for the number of cars, houses, children or wives he has but rather, by the number of lives he has impacted positively, citing the examples of the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, late MKO Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi and Nelson Mandela who are being remembered because of an impactful lives they had lived.

    In her remark at the occasion, wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Oluwakemi Alao-Akala, described the launching of the foundation as a welcome development which should be embraced and given maximum support by all and sundry bearing in mind the level of hunger and poverty across the country. Yinka Ayefele, husband of the convener, stressed the need for the well-to-do to always put smiles on the faces of the needy at all times as this is the only way they would be remembered when they are no more.

    Earlier In her welcome address, the convener, TTAF, Temitope Ayefele, disclosed that the vision of the foundation is to cater for the less privileged, the needy, physically challenged and the indigent in the society. She added that the foundation will move around different states in the country with the sole aim of helping the people who are in need in order to make the society better.
