    After a harrowing experience, Lil Kesh said he is focused on recovery, a message met with an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artistes.

    Rapper Lil Kesh hospitalised after violent robbery attack

    Lagos was thrown into shock on Wednesday night after popular rapper Keshinro Ololade, better known as Lil Kesh, was brutally attacked by unknown assailants.

    According to reports, the award-winning Afrobeat star was ambushed by robbers who left him with a stab wound to the neck and a severe injury to his ear. 

    The attackers allegedly carted away his expensive jewellery worth millions. 

    While Lil Kesh’s management is yet to officially confirm the incident, close associates hinted that the robbery indeed took place.

    News of the attack quickly spread across social media, with the “Shoki” crooner’s fans flooding timelines with prayers and words of encouragement.

    One user, identified as Designs, wrote: “WTF! I think someone close to him had a hand in this. Quick recovery to him though.”

    Another added: “The country is getting very tough now. People are doing dangerous things to survive. My prayers to Lil Kesh—no one deserves this.”

    As fans wait for official confirmation from his team, the entertainment world is holding its breath, wishing the young rapper a swift recovery.

    Afrobeats star Lil Kesh has revealed that his breakout hit “Efejoku” was nearly given away to producer Young Jonn because he initially didn’t recognise the song’s full potential.

    Speaking on the song’s backstory, Lil Kesh admitted he was more focused on melody-driven tracks at the time and didn’t think “Efejoku” fit his musical direction, saying that he offered it to Young Jonn.

    However, after playing the track for music executive Olamide, popularly known as Baddo, and receiving an enthusiastic response, Lil Kesh said he had a change of heart and quickly moved to reclaim the song from the producer.

    The song eventually became one of his biggest hits, cementing his place in the Nigerian music scene.

    In a recent interview: “One of the songs that I’ve made in the past. I can’t really think of any right now but I can tell you for a fact, ‘Efejoku’, which is one of the songs that I will forever be grateful for that I ever recorded. I dashed it out.

    I know, crazy right? I recorded the song, I mean it was produced by Young John obviously, but I didn’t know the value of the song. I was like yeah it’s nice, it’s not bad because I’m a melody driven type of artist, I love melody. So I was like it’s better like, and he was like if you don’t like him, I like him.

    “I was like you can have So I remember I was chilling with Baddo and the boys, some night like that. I was at the Oriental hotel and I played it for Baddo and he was blown away. I was like, I dashed Young Jonn, he was like what? You better go back and collect your song. And me too, I was like um Jiggy, yeah you know that song, let’s have it, let’s have it. But yeah that’s a crazy story behind ‘Efejoku’.

    Singer and rapper Lil Kesh has expressed his doubts about marriage, stating that it doesn’t work due to the high divorce rate and numerous unhappy couples he has observed.

    At 31, Lil Kesh said he is currently single and has no plans to get married soon.

    Lil Kesh revealed that he ended his last relationship to focus on his career, prioritising his personal and professional growth.

    Speaking in a recent episode of the Esther Show, Lil Kesh said he’s not actively seeking a partner, but wouldn’t rule out the possibility of finding someone special who could make him compromise on his priorities.

    The singer emphasised that his decision isn’t driven by a desire to be free or a playboy, but rather his genuine doubts about the institution of marriage.

    According to him, he wants a happy home, but doesn’t feel ready to provide that yet, and doesn’t want to jeopardise anyone’s happiness.

    Fortunately, he said his parents aren’t pressuring him to get married, having accepted his individuality.

    For now, he said he is content with his single status, focusing on his career and personal development.

    He said: “I’m currently single. I have been single for a long time. I broke up with my last girlfriend because I figured out that I could do better on my own, as far as my career, everything that was a priority to me at the time was concerned. And ever since then, I have not been able to find myself in a space where I could juggle both.

    “It would be nice to find someone who would make me compromise. But now, I’m not intentional about dating because if I’m dating you, I will have to make time for you. Also, I’m no longer a kid. I’m 31. Luckily, my parents are not pressuring me to get married. They have made peace what the fact that I am different.

    “Marriage? Maybe, later. But for now, I’m not of that mindset. I’m also not going to intentionally make anyone my baby mama. I am not going to ‘wife’ anybody anytime soon either. It’s not like I don’t want to get married because I want to be free or be a playboy, I just don’t believe in marriage. They don’t work. Have you seen the rate of divorces? I have seen a lot of unhappy marriages. That doesn’t mean there are not happy ones. But personally, I want a happy home and I don’t feel like I can do that yet. And I’m not going to jeopardise any person’s happiness just because I have to get married”.

    Singer Lil Kesh has opened up about his journey to signing with Olamide’s YBNL label, crediting his breakout single “Lyrically” for catching the attention of Olamide Baddo.

    The 2014 hit, which showcased his rap prowess, was the catalyst for his record deal, marking his entry into Nigeria’s mainstream music scene.

    “Lyrically’ is one song that got me my record deal. I am a rapper, but I don’t like to identify as a rapper intentionally. I came into the game as a rapper”, he said.

    Despite his roots in rap, Lil Kesh explained his reluctance to identify solely as a rapper, noting that he intentionally positioned himself as a pop star to achieve greater commercial success.

    Lil Kesh highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerian rappers, observing that many struggled to maintain long-term relevance due to the country’s preference for party-friendly music.

    “Most of the people who identified as rappers, most of them couldn’t stand the test of time”, he added.

    He pointed to Olamide as a rare exception, whose ability to blend rap with commercial Afrobeats ensured a sustained career.

    Inspired by this, Lil Kesh crafted hits like “Shoki,” “Is It Because I Love You,” and “Efejoku,” which skyrocketed him to fame in 2015, establishing him as one of YBNL’s top hitmakers and a street music sensation.

    In an interview, the artist disclosed that he believes he has ADHD, despite never receiving a formal diagnosis.

    He reflected on how his symptoms have been present since childhood, shaping his personal and professional life. 

    Lil Kesh also attributed his anxiety to the pressures of fame and personal challenges, acknowledging that uncertainty has been a major trigger for his struggles.

    He said, “I don’t like to identify as ADHD, but I have ADHD. I diagnosed myself, but trust me, I know.

    “Everybody has a particular level of ADHD to them. But it’s bad when it is a disorder. I’ve had my fair share of that disorder right from when I was a kid.

    “I feel like not knowing, lack of clarity… that’s one thing that can give me anxiety. Once I know what it is that I’m dealing with or what type of emotion I’m actually feeling or what my problem really is, that is half solved,” he added.

    “Shout-outs to people like Justin Bieber who were vulnerable enough to tell their story. I went through things similar to that.

    “Coming to the spotlight at a very early age, I was also deprived of a lot of things; life experiences that I should have learnt before. I was put in a high position at such an early stage. It was overwhelming trying to handle all of that.”

    Musician, Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lil Kesh, has recounted how his mother and her dog slept for 24 hours after they both ate a cake from his fridge. 

    The ex-YBNL artist shared this on his Twitter page now known as X app.

    His post seemed to suggest to social media users that there was more to the cake because of how long they had slept.
