    I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne, says Tems

    Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recalled how she used to mimic American rapper Lil Wayne when she was younger.

    Revealing how she used to ‘pretend’ to be Lil Wayne, on ‘The Cruz Show’ on Real 92.3 FM, the Oscar-nominated singer and songwriter disclosed that the American rapper was her role model.

    “Hip-hop is my thing. I used to pretend to be a rapper. I love Lil Wayne as well. I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger,” she said.

    Tems also said she’s looking forward to meeting the rap icon.

    “I’ve not met Wayne. I want to meet him so bad. Very soon I know I’m going to meet him.”

    American rapper Lil Wayne has shared his disappointment and heartbreak over not being selected as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.

    In a viral video message, Wayne admitted that he feels he is to blame for not being mentally prepared for the disappointment.

    He expressed that headlining the show in his hometown of New Orleans would have been a significant honour, referring to it as a “dream stage.”

    “That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together,” he said.

    Trinidadian-born rapper, singer and songwriter, Nicki Minaj has hailed Lil Wayne for “single-handedly changing” her life.

    She announced this while introducing Wayne to the stage at her recent concert amid wild cheers from an electrifying crowd.

    Prostrating three times for Wayne, she described him as “the best rapper alive.”

    Nicki Minaj said: “Make some noise for the man that single-handedly changed my life.

    “I am nobody without you. I don’t give a damn how long I’ve been in this game, I think you are the best rapper alive. Thank you for changing my life.”

    However, Lil Wayne said he would have agreed with her that he is the best rapper alive “but there is a certain person by the name of Nicki Minaj” who is better than him.

    Nicki Minaj started her career under Lil Wayne’s record label, Young Money, alongside Drake.
