Stop relying on men’s benevolence, Linda Ikeji advises ladies

Prominent blogger Linda Ikeji has urged women to pursue financial independence and self-reliance.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, accompanied by photos of herself in one of her luxurious cars, Ikeji emphasized that women should strive to be as successful and wealthy as men, rather than depending on their benevolence.

She encouraged women to be fearless, strong, determined, and graceful, and to work hard to achieve their goals.

Highlighting the importance of financial independence, Linda described it as a superpower that enables women to make their own choices and live life on their own terms.

She shared her personal aspirations of being able to afford anything she wants without relying on a man and providing the best life possible for her children independently.

Linda wrote: “Dear young lady, I hear you! If that’s how you see life and want to live life, it’s your choice! To each h@s own. As for me, I’d rather be as rich as those men who must pay me for being beautiful. Being rich is not the birthright of men alone. I’d rather be their contemporary than waiting for their handouts.

“I know many believe it’s a man’s world; maybe it is, but with fearlessness, strength, determination, and grace, women can dominate and thrive in it. So, instead of waiting for men’s charity, I’d rather start early to fight for my dreams, build my business (es), break boundaries, and if God allows, shatter tables.

“I want to get to a point in my life where I can get myself anything I want that money can buy without having to beg or sleep with any man to get it. I want to go into a store, see a $60k Cartier watch that I love and pay for it, instead of wondering which man I’ll call and plotting all the things I will say and do to get him to buy it for me.

“I know that my greatest superpower as a woman is being financially independent, as this will give me the choice to live life on my own terms, date or marry whoever my heart wants and walk away when it no longer serves me, instead of being forced to stick with a man I can no longer stand because I can’t stand on my own.

“I want when a man comes into my life, no matter how rich he is, for his money to be a bonus and not my only source of livelihood. And as he gives to me, which I will happily collect, I will give to him in return.

“I want to dress as sexy as I like and enter any place without a man walking up to me and asking how much it will cost to take me home for the night because he knows who the F I is… a boss babe with her own business as rich as he is or maybe even richer!

“Seriously, I’d rather, if God forbid I end up with a deadbeat, be able to give my child(ren) the absolute best life without having to be at the mercy of a scornful & bitter ex.

“With all humility, I refuse for the quality of my life to be dependent on the benevolence of men. I want the protection, power, and security that comes with having my own money. But like I said in the beginning, that’s just me!”

The blogger intended for a sweet post and caption about the kids’ vacation, but fans swiftly turned things around after they noticed in her caption that she referred to her son with her last name.

In a clarifying statement on her Instagram story, Linda revealed that her son has always carried her surname since birth, putting to rest speculation of a name change.

The blogger expressed disbelief at the notion that she would alter her son’s identity, emphasising that such decisions will be left to him when he comes of age.

  • Bitter-rival celebs

What would our social media look like without the stiff fights that often distract us? Boring! 2019 is not over yet but it has had its own fair share of drama and fights. Most of these fights played out on social media. Our package this week is on the top celeb beefs and tiffs this year.

    Lizzy Anjorin vs Toyin Abraham

It’s time to get the popcorn ready because the feud between Nollywood actresses Lizzy Anjorin and Toyin Abraham is still a running tiff. As things stand, this very emotive fight might enter a new phase soon. The court drama that it gave birth to is yet to be resolved.

Anjorin has feuded with more celebrities than we can count – simply because she can’t hide her feelings, and it seems as though we can now add Toyin Abraham to her shortlist! Their social media feud began after Abraham put to bed, and some fans accused Lizzy of not sending her a congratulatory message. This sparked a debate on Toyin’s page during which some of her fans reportedly rained insults on Anjorin. There was a lull and then everyone thought the dust had settled. But it was the calm before the storm. Shortly after, Anjorin launched a blistering attack on Toyin and the social media went crazy as the fans of both actresses rallied to their defence.

Anjorin alleged that Abraham always incited her fans against fellow colleagues and celebrities in the entertainment industry. It has been hell ever since.

    Tonto Dikeh vs ex-hubby

This rather public feud probably should not come as a surprise. That is because Churchill Olakunle is the ex-husband of hard-hitting, non-nonsense actress, Tonto Dikeh. For most couples, separation or divorce is like a declaration of war. This assertion also holds true for this celeb couple. Most of their fights played out on social media. Dikeh accused her ex of being irresponsible, incapable of meetings the needs of his family, domestic violence and some other sundry issues.  After their bitter separation war on social media last year, sometime in the early part of the year, Tonto Dikeh, again came out to drag her ex-husband, Olakunle, on social media and this time around, she revealed more than what a lot of people were expecting to hear. During her interview with media personality, which has to do with an issue of the bedroom. Olakunle, who was mute all through the period Tonto Dikeh was ranting and rainy insults on him, opened up, saying it was all a lie. He described himself as  ‘a tireless machine’ with a woman when one of his followers had commented on one of his posts, saying “40 sec makes one.”

He wrote: “Of course not, don’t be deceived; you cannot undermine an ex-military boy… I am a tireless machine during marathon…”

However, we hope that the two will settle and eventually become friends again for the sake of their son.

Lizzy Anjorin vs Ronke Oshodi Oke

Although you would think that Lizzy and Ronke would get on well; thanks to their shared interests-Nollywood Yoruba, it seems as though the complete opposite is the case. Last year, actress Liz Anjorin took to the social media to slam actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke for allegedly poking fun at her at a party they both attended. Before then, Ronke had taken to the social media to caution her colleagues for excessively display in their worldly possessions on social media. Though she didn’t mention names, Liz Anjorin felt the video was directed at her and she replied, describing Ronke as in some unprintable terms. Although things cooled off after a while, a new twist was introduced to the conflict soon enough when Ronke, while handling the mic, alluded to the tantrums heaped on her by an actress. The disclosure made Lizzy uncomfortable as she felt harassed. Ronke, on the other hand, put out a long video saying she and Liz were not mates and she will continue to ask for money at events because she’s doing her job as an MC. Liz didn’t allow that to go unchallenged. She replied Ronke: I’ll rubbish you anytime you do that. We hope the two actresses will sheathe the sword soon.

    Iyabo Ojo vs Kemi Olunloyo

Iyabo Ojo has been able to work her way up over the years to become a huge name in the world of show biz and it seems as though she’s also learned a lot over that time. This has given her the opportunity to have a large fans base and to speak on personal matters and sundry issues on social media; apparently some people aren’t too happy with her posts.

The controversial journalist and the Nollywood actress were engaged in a nasty war of words on social media with each party dragging the other with equal venom. Not until recently was a truce brokered by Toyin Lawani and Toyin Abraham. Kemi Olunloyo even claimed that Iyabo Ojo wasn’t married to her husband and claimed that she had evidence to land the actress in jail. The beef has, however, been settled.

    Davido vs Kemi Olunloyo

Superstar musician Davido aka OBO and controversial Kemi Olunloyo have been engaged in a continuous social media feud for years. This feud seems not to have an end. The latest episode in the long-running fight between the two manifested when Olunloyo congratulated Davido and girlfriend Chioma who have plans to marry next year. Olunloyo remarked: “Congrats Chioma on the birth of your baby boy. I will come visit you this weekend,” she tweeted. The hip pop star reacted through a message on social media, saying: ”This one wan near my pikin, 400 dey wait you.”

    Kemi Olunloyo vs Linda Ikeji

Linda is arguably one of the most famous bloggers in Nigeria. The dispute between Kemi Olunloyo and Linda is one of the most famous in Nollywood. Is it over? We are not sure. What we know is that Madam Kemi still attacks Ikeji fairly regularly.

The renowned blogger and socialite, Linda Ikeji, celebrated her 39th birthday on Thursday September 19, 2019 in Dubai with friends and family Kemi claims Linda is not revealling her real age to the public.

While wishing her a happy birthday, Kemi pointed out that Linda is 43 years old as opposed to what she and Wikipedia are saying.

“Happy 43rd birthday to Linda Ikeji. Fans, Wikipedia age is 39th birthday,” she wrote.

    Shan George vs Femi Branch

You might be wondering why Shan George is on this list, considering she just recently had a spine surgery. Well, you don’t need to worry, because the surgery is the bone of contention.

That’s because, just days after the actress went through a successful spine surgery in Abuja, Femi Branch, who also happens to be a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria(AGN), took to his Instagram page to share a picture of the AGN executive giving an envelope to recuperating  Shan George.

“God bless the & Actors Guild of Nigeria for coming to the side of our dear colleague and friend @shangeorge as she recovers from her back surgery”

Reacting, however, in the comment section, Shan said: “They didn’t come to my aid sir. I’m not crying for any aid/help; it was just a show of love from the AGN president towards a colleague, @chief_femibranch. I know say you hate me but this is more than low. Aid ko, Babiala ni, you either correct this wrong impression or just kuku delete this post. Thank You”.  We also learnt the actress took to the AGN group chat to blast the actor.

In her words:  “Abeg, make all of una help me tell Femi Branch to stop his bile for me now! I’ve had enough of of ur display of hatred for me at every little opportunity u can scramble at..Delete that bloody wicked evil post of urs…” Femi has remained mute all through.

Sonia Ogiri & Angela  Okorie vs Mercy Johnson

Nollywood actresses Sonia Ogiri and Angela Okorie are said to be embroiled in a social media mêlée with Mercy Johnson. The social media has been buzzing with mixed reactions after a Nigerian actress identified as Sonia Ogiri, in an Instagram post, titled ‘healing process’, shared her bitter experience in the hands of top Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson. However, while many people attacked her for trying to start a smear campaign against Mercy Johnson due to how successful she has become, there were others who believed her. Fellow Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, reacting to the post, revealed that the actress did worse to her and went on to accuse the actress of fighting her both physically and spiritually.

  • #10yearschallenge: Don Jazzy,Tonto Dikeh, others attribute success to patience, hard work

Some Nigerian celebrities have attributed their success in the past years to patience and hard work in their trending hashtag on social media: #10yearschallenge.

Actress Tonto Dikeh, On-air-personality Toke Makinwa, music producer Don Jazzy and popular blogger Linda Ikeji, amongst others, have taken part in the challenge.

They took to their Instagram pages to share photos taken some 10 years ago in comparison to recent ones.

They attributed the noticeable transformation as displayed in their pictures to their constant hard work and patience in the entertainment industry.

They also encouraged their fans not to despise the days of little beginnings but should continue to dream big.

On her part, celebrity blogger Linda Ikeji, took to her Instagram page where she posted the pictures of cars she had driven from 2008 till date.

Barely a week after she was delivered of her son, the single mother of one bought a Bentley Muslanne car for herself and the baby.

  • Linda Ikeji: Tough year for celebrity blogger

There would never be a more challenging year for Forbes-proclaimed Nigeria’s highest paid blogger, Linda Ikeji.

Linda’s blog, according to a report, is currently worth more than 12 million dollars with the net worth standing at more than N3.2 billion. Her blog is said to enjoy between 100,000 and 250,000 visits from 180 countries daily.

Though admired by many, especially youths, because of her unique way of reporting celebrities, the act would seem to have earned her more enemies than friends. Ask Kemi Olunloyo and popular artistes like Davido, Whizkid, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Stella Dimokokorkus and others, and they would tell you that Linda has harassed them with her blog.

Early in the year, there was excitement in the air when a pre-wedding photo of Linda with a comedian, Hyenana, was released. The fact that Linda did not respond to the post further fuelled suspicion that the story could be true. Thus, not a few people were disappointed when it was later found that it was a joke taken too far.

The controversial blogger stirred the hornet’s nest when she released a picture of her pregnancy bump on May 20 and became the butt of public derision. It was payback time as many of the people she had rapped in the past found an opportunity to get at her.

Known for her stance against sex before marriage, it came as a shock to many that a role model who had been preaching celibacy could have a baby outside wedlock.

The singular ‘error’ became Linda’s albatross as she battled to explain different things at different times. First was her explanation about the pregnancy. Next was having to justify why she would not marry the father of her baby.

Kemi Olunloyo, a fellow blogger and journalist did not spare her. In a video on May 22, she described Linda as a liar.

Appalled by Linda’s baby bump photo, Olunloyo said in a tweet: “…nobody sane should flaunt their real pregnant belly online. Dahlin, just tell people you love kids and will adopt or do a surrogacy. ….I warned you about role modeling. I only mentor people. Role models fall from grace. God should be your role model. You let down a lot of young girls. You haven’t taught them how to blog. You haven’t shared your secrets of blogging with them. You must carry them along, Linda.”

Olunloyo had alleged that Linda was never pregnant but paid a surrogate mother N1.8 million for the child. “Sincerely, I have been respecting myself but I think I need to fill you guys into this. Linda Ikeji got pregnant using ‘donor sperm’ because she started getting scared of menopause,” Olunloyo was quoted to have said in a report.

So what could have been the reason for a sudden U-turn by this billionaire blogger?

The 38- year-old Linda, while apologising to Nigerians, admitted that she had made a mistake.

She said: “I preached celibacy to young girls because I feel that’s the right way to live until you meet someone very special that you love and who loves you and wants to be in a committed relationship with you. Passing body around and having multiple partners is not the way, and I stand by it.

“And I’ve lived by it. But then I turned 36 and I knew there was nothing else I wanted more than to be a mum and wife, and celibacy wasn’t going to get me that! I even did a video talking about how much I wanted these two things and God has finally answered my prayers. Beyond blessed.”

While she would not be marrying the father of her son Jace, the identity of Linda’s baby’s daddy remained shrouded in secrecy. After a lot of accusations and counter-accusations, she revealed that Sholaye Jeremi was the father of her son, saying that they would not be getting married because they are not “suitable partners.”

According to her, after she got pregnant, everything became extremely weird between them.

Not long ago, Linda thought she had a scoop when she ‘unveiled’ the person behind Instablog9ja. Unfortunately, she goofed as she claimed that one John Abayomi, a former online editor of Vanguard newspaper and current online editor of Punch was the owner of the blog.

It was a ‘scoop’ that nearly landed Linda in big trouble as human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, threatened to sue Linda for publishing what he described as fake news. At the end of the day, she had to tender an apology to Mr. Abayomi over the ‘fake’ story.

For the second time in a year, she had to reverse herself.

  • My baby Daddy and I are not suitable – Linda Ikeji

Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji says her and her baby Daddy, Sholaye Jeremi are not suitable partners.

The 37 year old blogger took to her blog to detail reasons why her relationship with, her son’s father whom she met in Dec. 2015, didn’t work out as she had expected.

Ikeji, who welcomed her son, Jayce on Sept. 17 in Atlanta, Georgia, had many Nigerians wondering the real story behind her and Jeremi.

In her ‘epistle,’ she shared the strength and shortcomings in her relationship with Jeremi which eventually ended after she got pregnant for their son.

” By mid-2017, we were both still single and we started seeing each other again quietly. There were times it was very intense and we talked about a future together, and there were times that I couldn’t figure out what exactly I was doing with this guy.

” We were not suited for each other. Totally different lifestyles and there was the problem of my fame so I walked away from this man a million times and he came after me a million and one times.

” No matter how much I pushed him away, he kept coming back to me, because I couldn’t find anyone else, I kept going back. Lol! So I was basically going back to my ex because I couldn’t find anyone else,” she said.

According to her, after she got pregnant everything became extremely weird between them.

“We went from talking about the pregnancy and being okay with it, to literally not talking to each other anymore.

“When I was about three months pregnant, he did come to see my parents and actually became very cool with my dad. They were literally exchanging Whatsapp messages every day.

“He later agreed to a traditional wedding which he didn’t follow through and then he switched. He began to treat me with so much hate and aggression that I and my family had to cut him off completely.

“To be honest if anybody had told me when we met three years ago, considering how deeply we cared for each other that I would fall pregnant two years later and he would completely turn his back on me for most part of my pregnancy, I never would have believed it but that’s what happened.

“I thought God sent him as my life partner but I guess he just used him as a vessel for my greatest blessing. Now his part in my story is over. This one is done and dusted,” she said.

  • LINDA IKEJI finally ‘reveals’ baby’s daddy

After months of speculation, celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji, has finally revealed the identity of her son’s daddy.

Linda who gave birth last Monday in Atlanta wrote on Instagram: “Going home with my prince. Beginning of the best years of my life! His name is Jayce by the way, Jayce Jeremi. Will share pictures soon! ”

The billionaire Blogger has kept the identity of her baby’s daddy hidden for a while now.  Few months ago she gave a tip-off in describing her baby’s daddy as a tall, dark and handsome Itsekiri man but did not provide more information regarding his identity to her teeming fans.
