    Lions Club installs new district governor

    Lions Clubs International has installed Adelaja Adeleye, a banker, as Governor of its District 404B3 for the 2025/2026 service year at a ceremony in Alausa, Lagos.

    The event, themed “Impacting Lives,” also served as a fundraising luncheon for projects ranging from youth empowerment and pediatric cancer awareness to hunger relief, environmental conservation, and upgrading facilities at Lagos State Model College, Ojo.

    Adeleye succeeds Ibrahim ‘Jide Bello, who completed his tenure as the district’s second governor since its formation.

    In his address, the new governor announced three flagship service campaigns for the year: mental health awareness in October 2025, hunger relief in January 2026, and environmental conservation in April 2026.

    Now in its third year, the district aims to expand membership, strengthen leadership training, and deepen its impact through projects in health, education, environment, hunger relief, and disaster response.

    Past District Governor Engr Oyewole Oyewunmi urged Adeleye to “lead with courage, compassion, and innovation” while building on the foundation laid by past leaders.

    Outgoing governor Bello, now Multiple Council Chairperson, pledged his full support, as other past leaders called for continuity in service and membership growth.

    Lions pledges to grow membership, step up community service

    lions Clubs International, District 404B3, has  outlined a growth agenda at its end-of-year awards and leadership transition.

    The event in Lagos recognised members and stakeholders for their contributions in 2024/2025 Lions year. It also marked handover of District Governor Ibrahim Bello to Adelaja Adeleye, who will lead for 2025/2026 service year.

    Adeleye called for renewed focus on expanding the club’s membership as part of the global Lions Clubs “Mission 1.5” campaign, to reach 1.5 million members by July 2027.

    He said: “Our strength lies in numbers. If we’re going to expand our humanitarian reach and increase our effectiveness, we must grow.”

    Bello reflected on a year of “resilience and collective impact,” noting his cabinet, regional and club leaders for “purpose-driven leadership.”

    He emphasised that service projects carried out had effects in communities in the district.

    However, he cautioned that success of Lions clubs should not only be measured in ceremonies but in continued grassroots engagement.

    Awards were given, recognising members and persons for their service and support.

    Present were past district governors, corporate partners, and government representatives.
