    How I coined my stage name – Liquorose

    Reality TV star and actress Roseline Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has shared the story behind her unique stage name, revealing it was inspired by her love for liquor and her real name.

    Speaking in a podcast with VJ Adams, Liquorose said she chose the name in December 2012, and it has since become a household identity.

    “I picked Liquorose on December 31st, 2012. I like liquor, and my name is Rosaline as well. I am a very shy person too. My mum says in her language ‘Alcohol is never shy’”, she said.

    She added that she values her family life and misses home, despite her busy schedule.

    “I don’t go home often; it’s bad. I miss my home, I miss my bed. We are very close in my family, and we know how to make each other laugh. We have stories we tell each other. I miss that. The last time I was in the hood was last year because I do this charity stuff every December. That was the last time, and it’s bad”, she said.

    The actress also shared her future plans, including her desire for a large family.

    “I want nine kids,” she added.

    Dancer and reality TV star Liquorose has disclosed her enduring passion for music, stating that she had always aspired to be a musician.

    In an interview with media personality, VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she was actively pursuing a music career prior to her participation in the Big Brother Naija show.

    She said, “I love music too much. I’ve always wanted to be a musician. Yeah, I’ve been recording. There was a time when I was always in the studio before I went for BBNaija show. I was very hungry with music.”

    Liquorose further stated that while she currently feels comfortable about acting, she still has a strong desire for music.

    She added, “I know that feeling because I’m a poet and I write. If the music isn’t sounding like that, I know I could do better. And I work with writers as well now and stuff. I wanted to ignore music because I’m like I love acting.

    “Acting is like my safest place right now. I’m comfortable, I can act till like I’m 80 or 70 years old. But the urge to make music remains strong. But you see music, there’s a side of me that people have not seen. And it’s my music side.

    “And one thing I need people to know is that the sound won’t just be for you to dance. It’s going to touch you. I can do dancehall, I can rap if I want to, because I write poems. I can’t sing like Beyoncé, but I can hold my own.”

    The duo won the Best Dressed Female and Male titles, respectively, impressing the audience and judges with their stunning traditional outfits.

    Liquorose’s elegant attire was designed by Prudent Atelier and showcased Yoruba culture with intricate beadwork, coral accessories, and a dramatic headpiece.

    Prince, a former Mr. Nigeria, exuded regality in his intricately embroidered outfit, paying homage to Benin culture.

    The winners each received a N1 million cash prize courtesy of Goldberg, the official sponsor of the fashion segment.

    The AMVCA Cultural Day is a highlight of the awards ceremony, celebrating African heritage through fashion, food, and performances.

    The event was held on Friday, May 9, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos, bringing together celebrities and fashion enthusiasts to appreciate the continent’s rich cultural diversity.

    Multi-talented actress, reality TV star, and dancer, Roseline Afije aka Liquorose, has revealed her plans to give back through charity as she reflects on her style, growth in acting, and public reception.

    Speaking with The Nation at a recent event, Liquorose shared her sentiments about a standout outfit she wore to the event and hinted at a charitable project she’s planning around her wardrobe.

    “Obviously I won’t be able to wear it again after tonight. I’m doing like a closet thing soon, so I’m either going to give it out or keep it for my closet collection. I’m going to do charity,” she said.

    Known for her bold fashion statements and magnetic stage presence, the former Big Brother Naija housemate also opened up about how she prepares for events and the mindset behind her red carpet looks.

    “It’s a special outfit but I feel blessed. I have to slay, dress to stand out and be very comfortable,” she said.

    On the acting front, Liquorose expressed joy over the positive feedback she has been receiving, especially as someone who has battled stereotypes in the industry.

    “It feels amazing to receive accolades for my acting. I think I’ve been a victim of stereotypes a lot, so seeing people appreciate my acting is amazing,” she stated.

    Roseline Afije aka Liquorose has thrown her weight behind the inaugural edition of theOtuo heritage week in Owan east local government area of Edo State.

     The BBNaija Season six first runner-up expressed joy at the initiative, which is scheduled to be held between December 26 and December 30 in Otuo.

     Speaking during a visit to the Chairman of Otuo heritage week planning committee, Ayoola Omoruanga, at his country home, Liquorose said she is in full support of the heritage week and identifies with the mission and vision of the organisers.

      She said, “First, I want to thank all the sons and daughters of Otuo who supported me two years ago in the Big Brother Naija Season 6, making it possible for me to finish as the first runner up in that contest.     “I am in full support of this Otuo heritage week which is meant to further open up our town to the rest of the world. Otuo sons and daughters are doing very well in all areas of human endeavours.
